  1. Any body? I'd like to be sure before I cough up the cash for this thing on Sunday.
  2. Two friends of mine are trying this on "trail-only" cherokees. One is using 4" front yj leafs, Early bronco D44 and 9". The other is using custom toyota front leafs, waggy D44 front, Rodeo D44 rear with discs. Check out this thread from pirate: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=720309
  3. I'm looking at buying a 4wd AW4 from a 97 xj. Will this work in my 1988 2wd AW4 4.0 MJ? I just need to know if I will run into any wiring troubles with it being newer. I can grab the whole trans wiring harness if that would make my life easier? Brad

    Cut fenders

Maybe if you lost the end caps, and cut the bumpers on a 45* (when viewing from the front) it would look better. Don't paint it though!! Multi-colors make you stand out. haha
  5. Bit of a haul for me, but the better half will be in Italy for the month  so I can probably get away assuming I have my truck ready to go.
  6. Looks 10 times better now!! Glad to see you're keeping the rear of the truck the way it was and not tubing anything. This is still one of my favorite skinny-tire trucks.
  7. Ordered up my muffler, trackbar, and sway bar disco's today. Updates this weekend hopefully!
  8. It would seem that this Jeep would be better at plowing two 24" deep ruts in field.
  9. That almost makes me want Zoomies thru the hood on the 'manche.......almost.
  10. Knew I should've shot the other side :shake: Didn't think I'd find out huh Wahoo?! Thats ok...mvusse knows franken-jeeps kick arse.
  11. That was my plan. I've been preparing with the PB blaster all week. I intended to do it today, but spent a little too long at the fundraiser cookout for the uncle's race team
  12. Ya, that was right after the spacers. I have a set of 3 month old drop brackets that I picked up for cheap. I'll run those until money allows for a full set of adjustable arms. Right now my priorities are: 1. New adjustable track bar. (I bought the lift used, and the track bar bolt was cut off, so the top joint is Fubar) 2. Install drop brackets 3. Alignment 4. Fix small rust spots on bed 5. Register and inspect 6. Find a 4x4 AW4. (swapping to the BA10/5 and waiting for an AX-15 later just seems like a bad idea to me now) 7. Bumpers/armor 8. PAINT! Those will probably get mixed up and done differently as usual. I did get the dash back together today, and I'm heading back into the garage to work on the seat. If anyone cares, the seat frames for a auto and 5 speed are the same. The only differences are the foam and the covers.
  13. Very nice helper indeed!! It's funny how I get just as many comments on the dog as the jeep. But they are great animals, and mine has been keeping me company for the whole build.
  14. Been raining alot here, so I've been holed up in the garage the past few days. Got a few small things done here and there. new rim color: sneak peek of painted flares. (truck will be flat black in the future) trimmed front: minimal triming in the rearof the front flare, we'll see how it works out close up of paint color, Ultra flat krylon camo sand or something still fits....barely still too much junk back here to work on the spare tire rack my sidekick: what a mess: me and the girl, taking a break:
  15. RE 4.5" front lift with 2" spacers Rear spring over with stock 2wd springs 34x9.5x15 swamper tsl on 15x7 Needs to be trimmed, and drop brackets.
  16. Thanks for the compliments guys. I bought the wheels gold, and thought they would be terrible. But they actually match the truck really well. I tried repainting one of them with Ultra Flat Krylon sand, so we'll see how that looks in the morning. In the mean time, here are some pics with the front spacer's installed, and the final ride height. I still need to trim my fenders and install my track bar and drop brackets. The spare is on while I get a new vavle stem in one of the tires.
  17. I know, they are sort of growing on me. Plus I like to be different. I might paint them a tan closer to the color of the stripe.
  18. Finished the lift and bought some tire. Rims will get painted this week. rear SOA, front 4.5" New bumper idea...I may lengthen it a bit FrankenJeep Front 6.5"
  19. Tach never came out of the cluster. It did sit at 3k rpm when I pulled it, but I have no idea if it worked in the previous truck, as is didn't run or have a battery. Needle is fine, not bent or spun, etc. I don't think it is possible to put the plug in upside down, because the tabs are two different widths I believe. Tach is at 0 rpm with the key ON. Tach slowly climbs to about 1800-2000 rpm with the key OFF. Tach is at roughly 3000 rpm at idle. All other guages work as they should. Hope that clears up what the symptoms are exactly
  20. Thanks hornbrod. I'll have to try that when I pull the dash for my new speedo cable. The tach does work, but like you mention, the needle is just off. It was kind of cool to see a 4.0 rev to 8k plus :rotfl2:
  21. hmmm......I was afraid of that. Anyone know if the rest of the guages (oil press, fuel, battery, temp) can be swapped into a dummy light cluster? Brad
  22. I swapped the full guage cluster from my 1986 2.8l 5 speed into my 1988 4.0l auto. Everything seems to be working like it should, except for the tach. When the key is off, the tach sits at 2800 rpm. At idle it is up around 3500. The actual rpm's are fine, but the guage seems to be off. Is the guage junk, or is there something I've missed? I can always put the idiot light cluster back in, but I'd prefer not to. Thanks in advance.
  23. Check out the Sutten Center's live Bald eagle nest cam!! http://www.suttoncenter.org/eaglecam.html
  24. I know, I really just hate to see it go to the junkyard. I wish somebody close could use it.
  25. I'm trying to give away a whole truck, and nobody wants it. I assume it's because there's a 3.07 attached to the rear. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Looks like a good project so far.
