I was just looking at a couple of Lund visor that I have in stock, one for an MJ and one for an XJ, one lighted and the other not. I"m not sure how well they will retrofit the non lighted visor as the lighted visor has a molded in recessed lens an socket receptacle. Might take some cutting and fiber glassing to make them work.

Axle swap and gearing question.
64 Cheyenne replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
FYI there is a date code stamped on tires, generally a tire shop will not mount used tires on a passenger vehicle when the date code is over six years old. -
FWIW, I always remove the CPS before I remove or install a tranny. This insures the CPS will not get damaged from the flywheel during the swap.

I need to know it all for the AX15 swap

Why are you not using the tranny mount from the XJ with the bracket for the exhaust already on it? Or in other words, there is an OEM part (tranny mount) that has what you need. -
I lived in Colorado 10+ years, aint no way in hell...even if you paid me...would I live there again...too many people. FWIW Montana sucks royal too, don't suggest coming here either lol.

Call a junkyard, get a price quote "if they had the doors", then price accordingly to save the buyer some $$$, make you some$$$. I'm guessing about $75 a door would be fair, (I"d charge $50 ea for four door doors), but since they are 2dr door doors, they might maybe, be worth +/- $100 a piece?

94 Cherokee interior in 91 Mj?
64 Cheyenne replied to Scalped's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yup, just make sure you get the brackets, and plenum which starts at the front of the console. Your option if you want to hook up the duct to the rear of the cab or not, I did, seems to warm the cab better. -
First time AX15 swap experience

Look at the hole location on the MJ body side bracket vs the XJ body side bracket... You need to use EVERYTHING from the XJ. -
Thats so cool! Makes me want to rethink the 87 again.

another ax15 question
64 Cheyenne replied to Jeepjeff859's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Suggest buying a new complete MC and line for 94 up w external slave. If you have ext slave. Besides I think it is recommended to warranty a new clutch slave you have to prove you put new MC and new line, or at least flush it. I suggest buying a stainless hose from here http://www.advanceadapters.com/categories/hydraulic-fittings--hoses/71/ If you work your truck REALLY HARD you pose the risk of melting the plastic line to the clutch leaving you sort of stranded, ask me how I know. Do you know how to shift without a clutch to get home? Strongly recommend the braided stainless line, peace of mind.... -

jeep mj with 33s and stock gearing yes or no?
64 Cheyenne replied to eyepod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Awwww Hell No! First I put 31s on with stock 3.07s, things were tolerable to a point, 5th gear was only usable downhill or with a decent tail wind, performance sucked, reverse was ugly, too tall, either the truck wanted to move too fast or I had to slip the clutch too much to go slow or use low range. unacceptable either way. Regeared to 4.10s, still on 31s truck performs the way it should. IMHO 31s are the way to go for a truck that sees mainly street and occasional off road use. Just for shi%^ and giggles I put 33s on the Chief (from parts pile for the 87), fenders scrubbed, performance REALLY SUCKED, all the same issues as 31s on 3.07s, but worse. Biggest best performing tire on a stock MJ with stock gears...stock tire size or 265 75 15. Bigger tire always equals more $$ more lift more clearance problems more breakdowns (because of what the bigger tire gets you into) more $$. FWIW I have an 8.8 LSD and a D30 (Lockright) set up with 4.56s 33 12.50 15s to go under the 87, someday... -
GF never believes me when I say "It'll just take a few hrs....", "yeah right" she says.

Clutch master cylinder
64 Cheyenne replied to wutangwisdom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Still, you didn't say if its internal or external... Internal-like brakes with the bleeder. External-take off slave cyl and compress with homemade tool, open hex bleed, fill MC, when fluid comes out of slave, your done, close bleed, remove clamp and install. FWIW, I've opened the bleed with slave on vehicle, added fluid when the fluid came out the hex (gravity) I was done. -
Clutch master cylinder
64 Cheyenne replied to wutangwisdom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sorry, depending on if its internal or external, means differing ways of bleeding them. They both fill the same. From the top. -
