  1. :agree: They so cheap, I keep one in most of my vehicles glove box (the older ones anyways). but they work fine also.
  2. Pull the motor... jks No really good question. If you had it apart, insured everything is straight & square, with a new gasket. I use my jusgethertightenough wrench :dunno: Without a torque wrench you want it tight, but not tight enough to break fasteners. Suggest you go around "pattern" 2 or 3 times sneaking up on final torque as above.

    Femtocell

Want to buy and use this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AT-T-Microcell-Wireless-Cell-Signal-Booster-Antenna-Femtocell-Model-DPH151-AT-T-/201325324794?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2edfeca9fa but will it work with my Straightalk phone? Or this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/331084176132?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I live in the boonies and sure would like not having to go outside to use my cell phone. And for a $300.00 Wilson product, no thank you, I'll stay inside on the land line if I have too.
  4. Yup, nice, red, shiny. These nice old trucks are fetchin top dollar, and I bet people are buying.... Might take a little while but I bet it sells.
  5. A good mod is to install an HO Tstat housing with a petcock in place of the temp sender, makes burpin easy.
  6. Couldn't get one from THE junkyard? ANY year of Cherokee would have fit. Is it possible to remove a used one from the JY? Yes, if I'm doing it, no seriously it aint hard if you don't rush it and take your time.
  7. Search "Burp cooling system" Jeep 4.0. You should still do this to remove any air left in system.
  8. There is no "original fit" Comanche glass VS XJ Cherokee glass. If MJs were produced in 97, they would have had the same exact rubber gasket and glass as the Cherokee. FWIW the 97 glass they have on hand would have worked also, just use the chrome trim and clips instead of the rubber gasket. Hate it when suppliers BS customers tryin to make more $$$.
  9. When I replaced both front turn signal sockets, all my turn signal gremlins went away. Problem is they corrode internally, cause ground issues, which affects how the rest of the other turn brake tail lights operate. Good replacements in the "help" section of most parts stores.
  10. Went wheelin a few weeks ago, found myself down some trails I really shouldn't have went....sorry no pics, next time....Anyways, the MJ did not suffer any damage with the exception of the license plate that was hung onto my JCR rear bumpers plate mount. But that is for another post...Sooooo, many obstacles, humps, pits, and logs, I'm running 31 10s and about 4" lift, I find myself making way OK but high center and drag the TC and CM over every obstacle. Never got stuck or winched off like the LJ in front of me  The terrain was mostly sedimentary rock (shale) and didn't appear to be causing any grief to the underside of my truck. Only thing I didn't like was the "dragging" of the frame rails over the obstacle. I do have sliders going on and want to put some of these on http://www.t-mfab.com/store-3/?model_number=mjcusto protect the "rails" but hence the problem, 10 ga or 3/16"? Since I don't really see tons and long arms in the future I'm guessing the 10 ga ones should be more than adequate. opinions?
  11. Every used vehicle I get gets new belts and hoses. Piece of mind. Decent old belt gets thrown in truckbox for trail spare.
  12. Mod? So what did you do, how did you fix it and got any pics?
  13. Aint no way in hell Id hang that thing under my dash when I could do my homework and get AC that looks like it came from the factory...
  14. Highly recommend replacing those C clips with full circle clips, especially if you wheel off road often. Why? Under load the u joint saddles can deform, lose the C clip, lose the bearing cap, trash the axle or stub. Guess how i know...first time out with unmodified axles. Had to replace a brand new U joint and trashed stub.Search is your friend....
  15. Just cause you got new U joints, doesn't mean you couldn't have gotten one that was made on a Monday.
  16. 88& 89 both Renix. No Bendix by itself, Renault + Bendix = Renix 86 is its own animal by its self.
  17. If you gonna do the effort, why not put the whole 8.25 under there? Gotta be tons better than the turd....
  18. Most any years of either are doable, but I would suggest staying away from any with the V6. For that matter, even the 4cylinder is a better choice. HOs are probably better....matter of opinion, really they are, but a Renix is ok, just that it has older engine control system. Either are ok in my book because both are computer controlled and fuel injected. You just have to know how to use a multimeter to troubleshoot the Renix system.
  19. Valve cover to intake, look for write up to increase line size. Is your air cleaner dry or saturated with oil? (another indication of an overpressure condition.) And I live in Charlo, about 50 mi north of Missoula on the Flathead Indian reservation, although I'm not flathead, I'm Cheyenne transplanted from Southeast MT.
  20. Check your vent line before you tear into it....a plugged vent line causes the crank case to overpressure, forcing oil out wherever it can like oil seals, valve cover gaskets and air boxes.
  21. Thought that part was called called a "wheelhouse."
  22. Didn't JP Mag do this swap (3550) on an MJ? Think I only saw the first part, think second part was going to show how to deal with the electronic speedo drive?
  23. Paid $100 bucks for my 88 Chief.... $500 for the 87 Got probably $3K in the Chief, $7K in the 87... $6,7,8K dollars go a loooonnnnggggg way in building a truck. Suggest a cheap truck, build, learn as you go, that way you aint buying somebody elses pipe dream and head ache. You also get the privilege to build what works for the most important person of all.....you.
