  1. DON'T YOU GUYS MESS WITH RIDDICK!!!!!!
  2. I still have to laugh every time I see your horrible typing! :rotf:
  3. A cousin of mine had the same thing happen.... he lost his leg after infection set in to the bone and multiple surguries to try to save it. Youll be lucky if you get to keep yours. We are pullin for ya. Good luck!
  4. 4:10 is what came on most 2.5, or 2.8 v6 models with the 5 speed. I have this exact combination in my truck with 235 BFG A/T tires and it works very well. Your truck should have 3:55 gears in it right now with the 4 speed. If you find a donor vehicle with a 4 cyl, and an auto tranny, it should have 4:56 gears factory and would be even better to run if you switch to the AX5. But if you stay with the 4 spd, 4:10 will be just fine.
  5. I don't know that the AX5 is a ticking time bomb like the BA10/5 is, but it should hold up just fine when not abused too hard. I think the weak spot in the AX5 is the 5th gear from what Ive heard. Cams are supposed to be available in a variety of grinds from Accelerated Motion amotion.com but their website says they are closed till April. I plan on ordering from them in the near future. Clifford Performance offers headers, and a custom intake system that can use either a 390cfm 4 bbl carb, 2 bbl carb, or their own custom fuel injection system. The throttle body spacers are a huge point of debate on here, but general concensus says that they work much better on our 2.5's throttle body system than they do on the 4.0's port injection. A part number Ive found is for a Power Aid spacer PN 310-510... made for a 4.0 but will bolt to a 2.5 supposedly. Definitely gearing down. Ive put 4:10s in mine and it really helped the get up and go, 4:56 would be even better, especially if you plan on somewhat bigger tires. A cold air intake helps a little. I don't think anyone makes one for the 2.5 MJ, but I had one I took off of a Mazda 3 that I cut down to make work on my truck. Takes a little fab work, but nothing huge. Another thing to do, like I did, is get rid of the crankshaft driven electric fan, and install an electric one with a fan controller. Seems to have made a little difference for me, but we are talking about the 2.5 here, so you shouldnt expect too much. Another 5 speed swap you can look into is the NV3550 as mounted in dakotas and wranglers. There is a way to adapt this trans to the 2.5, I just don't have the details right now. I also bought a spare 2.5 for a future rebuild. I plan on maximum overbore, 3 angle valve job, mild port and polish, and above mentioned performance upgrades. Many of the above upgrades are easilly accomplished, but like I said, just don't expect too muck. Good Luck, and let us know how things go, and if you have any questions!
  6. Your best bet for an actual quote is to visit each shop and get a quote on the spot. They may not give quotes by email because they need to look at it to tell exactly what it will take and add in your choice of fabric. I too am thinking more like 250 to have it done, but in this economy, I'm sure they arent doing much work and will be more competetive. Good luck!
  7. Not everyone JUMPS their trucks. Theres no way in HELL I would put my baby through that!
  8. Since when is P&R on on tuesdays?
  9. You tell us you popped the question. But you didnt tell us if she said yes. I withhold my congratulations until you tell us the whole story! :rotf:
  10. Pete!!! Is there any way we can get a top 40 list? Or 80???
  11. My main reason for selling is the fact that I'm no longer welcome here at Comanche Club. :( Once I sell it, I'll buy myself a vehicle where I can be a welcomed part of the corresponding forum. Yes and no. $9000 is a lot, if the scrap yard offered me $9000 I'd take it, and watch it get crushed with a smile on my face. Okay, maybe not, but anyway I am going to sell it and I'd like to do it sooner rather than later. I've got a number in my head I'd like to see, but obviously I'm going to try to get as much as I can. The price will drop until it sells. (Shhh....that's a CC secret) NO LONGER WELCOME????? Its all in your head man! We still talk to jeepcomj even though he's had issues too. And what could you buy and build for what you already have into your MJ? Remember we are the guys that helped your girl win the photoshoot. If you think there are issues between you and other members, it is only a minority few. don't worry about them... Just ignore them. Its amazing how quickly people forget, and everything will be back to normal!
  12. I'm not sure if it really matters at this point in the conversation, but a real professional burglar goes to all lengths to avaoid such interaction with the homeowners. If your house was invaded, nothing taken, lights left on, the criminal could have seen your wife coming and made a quick exit without having finished his job. They could have both been there at the same time and your wife would not have known it. But we all know too well the ones we have to worry about are the drug crazed ones that steal whatever they can for their next hit, but too, most of them will still only look for the easiest, quickest least interaction jobs they can find. I know that the worst of the home invasions happen, but I think too that TV and POP culture has us more scared than we need to be on this subject. If a criminal invades while someone is home, it is because they have intended it to be that way and have other things on their mind... such as rape. But most rapists attack in an open dark area, or through coersion. They too want the least possible danger for themselves, which makes a home invasion very unlikely. I know that a break in makes you feel violated, but it is highly unlikely that it will happen. Yes training on the subject of self protection is needed, and steps should be taken, but It does not sound like your wife will need to go the full distance and get a gun to protect herself. Pepperspray positoned throughout the house is a low cost measure that could be taken, change the locks of course, check the whole house for weak points in security and address them... This is probably all you will need. They say the security company stickers just put on the house without even a system is a detterant! All these little steps should point you in the direction you both feel you should be able to handle mentally and financially. I too have the Mossberg 500 that can hold 8- 2 3/4" shells in the mag and one in the barrel, but mine has a pistol grip. I also have a Berretta 3032 Tomacat 32 auto. This when loaded with hollowpoints hits like 38, but can still fit inconspicuously in your pocket. The wife has shot both, and has more than once gotten afraid at home by herself and kept the 32 with her till I got home. Would she use it to protect herself? I'm really not sure. But I know she wouldnt go down without a fight.
  13. Wife and I don't usually buy for each other... too much other stuff to get.... and we just spent $1000 on a heat and AC unit for the livingroom..... but I bought $300 in tools for work that she don't know about yet. :fool:
  14. I like the weld slag in the tennis shoe bit myself.... and sizzling my forehead on the hot cat converter was fun too!
  15. I too have a set of upper and lower WJ arms that Ive yet to put on. But measuring them bolt center to bolt center they seem to be the same length as MJ uppers. I am planning on installing all of them when I do my 4x4 conversion....hopefully within the couple months.
  16. I KNOW THIS IS AN OLD ONE BUT ITS ONE OF MY FAVORITES.... Two old men are sitting on a porch in their rocking chairs. Laying between them is an old hound dog, licking his balls. The one old man turns to the other and says " You know Jeb, I wish I could do that." And the other old man says, " You know if you do that, that dogs gonna bite you!"
  17. I used to do all of what you guys are describing, but anymore in my MJ I only have jumper cables (a really good set I bought years ago- good jumpers make a world of difference!) and a tow strap that I inherited from who knows where. In the age of cell phones I just don't see the need anymore to keep all this stuff in the truck. If I were to take it on a long trip, that may be a different story, but daily, I don't think its needed. OH! I always have my AAA card on me too!
  18. Is your MJ prominently displayed in the episode? And whos bipolar, your fiance? Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
  19. It was a fairly easy job, the wiring was plug and play, but the header panel bolt up was different than the MJ's. I think one of them had the bolt up studs on the fenders, and the other had the bolt up studs on the header. If yours are on the header like mine was, youll have to remove the studs on the fender and drill one of them out to bolt up the header, the other hole was already there. But if both of your bolt up the same, you are good to go. Fairly easy job... good luck! Here are the before pics,
  20. Chrysler has a technical service bulletin on those for the front and the rear bolts, they don't fall out, they break off. My truck is the same way, but doesnt seem to leak. They have a revised stud, washers and spacer and torque rating for them.
  21. We were heading north on 77 up through virginia, and WV during this storm and got stuck on the WV turnpike for 5 hours without moving. When we were moving we were dodging abandoned cars in the middle of the freeway that had been plowed around! An entirely dangerous situation. We started looking for a hotel and heard that every one was booked because of it, but we remembered the Hawks Nest State Park in Ansted, WV, called them and they still had rooms! (only because nobody knows they are there!) and we are now here for the second day waiting on the roads north to get cleared. We are first heading to mvusse's neck of the woods near Canton, OH, then up to Michigan to swing through Pete's neighborhood, and then back... that is if we ever get there! Hopefully WV will have thier she-ite together by tommorow. Wish us luck, just wish I could enjoy the snow in this area instead of having to dread it.
  22. Didnt I read somewhere that Chrysler is building those for the Egyptian Military? Or some version therin? I think they were even diesel powered. It would be cool though!
  23. Most all junk yards have a parts crossover reference book, so they would know if there were others or not, they probably wouldnt even tell you they were doing it if they were. The 07 up wranglers have the same bolt pattern, but not sure if they are the same length or not or if the axle is even the same or not. Across town really isnt that bad though is it, compared to across state or across country? Good luck!
  24. "Traction Control" in its literal meaning was never offered on MJ's. Traction control is a system integrated into an antilock braking system that controls wheel spin to individual wheels so as not to loose traction and spin out. This is also often incorporated with electronic throttle control or DRIVE BY WIRE. I'm not sure if the late model XJ's ever even had this. I know some got ABS, but traction control is only recently becoming a big thing on lower priced vehicle.... lower price being a relative term. Is that waht you were asking about?
  25. It had been several years since I had owned a truck and I was getting the itch to have another one now that I had a house of my own and all. I had put feelers out with several of my friends telling them that I was looking for a CHEAP truck fixer upper. I was mostly looking at old Fords as Ive always loved them and had previously owned two others... a 1968 F250 Ranger Camper Special with a 390 big block auto 2wd, and my dads 1985 Ranger 2.3 2wd that he had bought new. Then one day my buddy Chip said he had a friend who was moving across country and was basically selling everything and that he had a Jeep truck for $250. I went to look at it initially. It was locked so couldnt pop the hood. I looked underneath and thought I saw a 4.0, but it ended up being a 2.5. It was covered in dust and tree sap and I had no expectations that it would run, and being told that it had been parked for about 4 years I thought that would have been guaranteed. So I said I would take it and we met a week later with the owner, he hooked up the battery and cranked it up! It didnt want to idle real well, but it was running! Evidently this guy made it a point to run it around the block about once a week or so the whole time it was parked! He was the original owner and the original sale recipts are still in the glove box. It was rust free and it drove itself home, thats all I needed. I put several bottles of fuel injector cleaner through it, and a tune up, but it would still act up every once in a while, but got better running the more I drove it. I finally decided that it couldnt hurt to put an 02 sensor in it, and as soon as I did that, it has run great ever since. And then the parts truck came along for $125... that meant I could now do a 4x4 conversion and a 5 speed, and power steering and AC.... and then CFC came along and got me a Wagoneer front end and all the body parts I could use...... I can't beleive how fast this addiction has grown. Ive only been on here for a year and most all of what I have described has happened in that time. There really is something about these trucks....
