  1. Most all junk yards have a parts crossover reference book, so they would know if there were others or not, they probably wouldnt even tell you they were doing it if they were. The 07 up wranglers have the same bolt pattern, but not sure if they are the same length or not or if the axle is even the same or not. Across town really isnt that bad though is it, compared to across state or across country? Good luck!
  2. "Traction Control" in its literal meaning was never offered on MJ's. Traction control is a system integrated into an antilock braking system that controls wheel spin to individual wheels so as not to loose traction and spin out. This is also often incorporated with electronic throttle control or DRIVE BY WIRE. I'm not sure if the late model XJ's ever even had this. I know some got ABS, but traction control is only recently becoming a big thing on lower priced vehicle.... lower price being a relative term. Is that waht you were asking about?
  3. It had been several years since I had owned a truck and I was getting the itch to have another one now that I had a house of my own and all. I had put feelers out with several of my friends telling them that I was looking for a CHEAP truck fixer upper. I was mostly looking at old Fords as Ive always loved them and had previously owned two others... a 1968 F250 Ranger Camper Special with a 390 big block auto 2wd, and my dads 1985 Ranger 2.3 2wd that he had bought new. Then one day my buddy Chip said he had a friend who was moving across country and was basically selling everything and that he had a Jeep truck for $250. I went to look at it initially. It was locked so couldnt pop the hood. I looked underneath and thought I saw a 4.0, but it ended up being a 2.5. It was covered in dust and tree sap and I had no expectations that it would run, and being told that it had been parked for about 4 years I thought that would have been guaranteed. So I said I would take it and we met a week later with the owner, he hooked up the battery and cranked it up! It didnt want to idle real well, but it was running! Evidently this guy made it a point to run it around the block about once a week or so the whole time it was parked! He was the original owner and the original sale recipts are still in the glove box. It was rust free and it drove itself home, thats all I needed. I put several bottles of fuel injector cleaner through it, and a tune up, but it would still act up every once in a while, but got better running the more I drove it. I finally decided that it couldnt hurt to put an 02 sensor in it, and as soon as I did that, it has run great ever since. And then the parts truck came along for $125... that meant I could now do a 4x4 conversion and a 5 speed, and power steering and AC.... and then CFC came along and got me a Wagoneer front end and all the body parts I could use...... I can't beleive how fast this addiction has grown. Ive only been on here for a year and most all of what I have described has happened in that time. There really is something about these trucks....
  4. I suppose YOU want that state to be Tennessee? I don't think so tim.
  5. I hate to say this, but youve been on this forum long enough, you should know the answer to your question already. Have you learned nothing here? Or are you just not paying attention? I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but it just seemed like a stupid question for someone whos been on here as a regular poster since 2006.... but you know we still love you right? RIGHT??? :nanner:
  6. This needs to go in the DIY section! And a list of the years it came off of.
  7. Chock the front tires, jack the rear end way up, put a 4x4 board under the hitch, and let the truck back down, then get in the bed and jump on it till the bumper is straight again.
  8. 0 inches so far, and no signs of startin! I think maybe Ill ride my motorcycle today!
  9. The Chrysler report I sent you says 3:07 gearing, 175 MM rear axle, which is a dana 35, it says 5 speed manual which would apply to either the BA or the AX, but the 89 sheet I did for another guy earlier today said 5 spd HD transmission, so maybe that means AX15 and the description without HD means BA 10/5???? Just my guess. I have no other way to tell. And yes you have renix.

  12. here's a set on my truck. They are my favorite wheel style, I even got an extra set off of CFC Cherokee when we had them here at the dealership.
  13. Thats why NO ONE borrows my vehicle unless I trust them implicitly... like my dad or my wife... thats it.
  14. Oh, oh, I know, I know!!! :waving: THEY SUCK AND SHOULD NEVER BE INSTALLED ON A JEEP!!! :rotf: What if you have them on your Jeep because they were FREE? They were installed on a wrangler that got traded in and were rubbing on the lower control arms. They didnt like the noise when they let a customer test drive it, so they told me to put some stock size street tires on it, so I did, and I put the BFG A/T's on my truck. They are only 235's and they don't rub on my truck. SCORE!
  15. Its probabaly water not gas. If you were getting enough gas through to dump out the tailpipe, it wouldnt run like that or at least not very well. In colder times of the year more water condenses in the exhaust system and gets blown out the tailpipe. Nothing to worry about!
  16. whatever specs everyone keeps asking me for when i ask a question Send me the last 9 digits of your VIN and your milage and I can look on chrysler and get you a build sheet that should be pretty close to what you want, either post it here or PM it to me and Ill look it up for you.
  17. I'm originally from Michigan so I grew up in the snow, but I'm living in North Carolina now. It snowed here once last year, maybe an inch or two, and when the "S" word is even mentioned on TV, everything gets shut down, I mean EVERYTHING! It didnt bother me one bit, and I did my usual daily routine of dropping the baby off at daycare and going to work. Well, When I showed up at the daycare (actually the ladies house) I woke them up because they thought no one would be coming. Then from there I head to work, and drive around a line of cars held up by one guy with bald tires trying to go up a slight incline, even though the MJ is 2wd I went right around them. I pulled into work right on time and was one of three people who made it to work that day. The first guy is an old timer with a little 4wd mini truck, them me in my 2wd MJ, and then shop manager in her Rubicon JK. Needless to say we didnt do much that day, I think they officially shut down at lunch time and sent us home.... which by that point in the day all the roads were now clear just from melting. I miss the snow sometimes and usually get a shot of it when I go to Michigan for xmas, but its not the same as having to live in it. Have some snow fun for me while youre at it my northern buddies, and keep the rubber side down!
  18. Every 4 cyl Ive seen run, be it a bike or a car, when getting off the line at the strip will immeadiately bog on the starting line and take who knows how long before it actually gets up and goes. Their problem is no low end torque. Many of the ricers have the idea that its not torque that wins races, its horsepower... but to me that doesnt make much sense if you can't get the car/bike going to begin with. The Comanche has torque on its side, and if you can get off the line first, you have a good chance of getting him in the 8th.
  19. Well, I'll be bamboozled! IDK - this guy has a cone air filter, over sized fuel injection tubing, 3" exhaust pipes, new old stock parts, and over priced spark plugs... Does the car run? I hope youre just kidding about the "new old stock" parts. You do know that this means NITROUS OXIDE SYSTEM right?
  20. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:
  21. 99 newer grands won't fit, an 07 newer wranglers won't work

  23. This is a generalization, but usually 4 cyl 4 spd = 3:55 4 cyl 5 spd = 4:10 4 cyl auto = 4:56? But all of these would have to be confirmed visually either by doing the driveshaft thing or pulling the cover off the diff housing.
