centerforce preasure plate
dasbulliwagen replied to MancheKid86's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The package price for the clutch kit probably includes the throwout bearing/slave cylinder combo, and a clutch disc centering tool. Thats probably the difference, but I could be wrong. And yes a centerforce is overkill unless racing, otherwise a stock unit will do all you will ever need it to do. -
We are the cleanest generation yet, and you beleive we are the problem? Look at your history books and see the amount of pollution created at the turn of the last century and before during the industrial revolution. This problem was started long before any of us came along, its just that we are starting to realize some of the affects. And I agree too that it is a natural phenomenon but at a slightly accelerated pace. We have done more than any other country already to reverse this process, but to think that we as humans are going to stop it, is just foolish. We do need to clean up more, but we also need to realize that we are going to need to adapt as well, because the climate will eventually change, and if we are to survive we need to change with it and deal with it instead of whining about how thing are different than they were 50 years ago.

We need more info about you MJ to tell you any more, what engine you have, 2.5 4 cyl, or 2.8 V6, what trans you have, auto or manual, and if manual, 4 or 5 speed, If your truck is 4x4 or 2wd. We can then tell you what will work and what won't. For example.. an 86 with a 2.8 v6, 5 speed trans will have an AX5 trans, NP207 transfer case, and 4:10 gearing in the axles with either a Dana 35 rear axle, or an AMC 20 rear axle if it has the metric tonne package, and a Dana 30 front axle. We can tell you that a 4.0 is not a drop in swap unless you change the engine with the trans and transfer case and driveshafts and wiring inside and out, and fuel pump. Stuff like that and everything else in between. There is a wealth of knowledge here about these trucks and we are happy to help. Let us know what you got!

A company outside of Vancouver, BC called accelerated motion has a selection of camshafts available for the 2.5. I have yet to deal with them, but they seem to be the only place Ive found to make performance cams. I think the website is amotion.com, but I could be wrong as I don't have my notes with me right now. A search should easily find them for you, but their website says they are shut down till April... so who knows. Clifford performance carries headers, and an intake that can be set up for carb or custom fuel injection. Then there are tricks like throttle body spacers, cold air intakes, removing the crank driven fan and replacing it with an electric, re gearing the axles, rebuilding with the maximum overbore.... stuff like that. I want to do all this stuff to mine as well when the time comes. I even bought a spare 2.5 running motor to start a rebuild on. Let us know what you end up doing, and good luck!

First, I would like to say that I agree with you completely, especially living in Michigan where nice examples of our MJ's are few and far between. But we have to realize too, that most people see their vehicles as merely transportation, as disposable objects with a finite lifespan. And there's nothing we can do about it. Many of these same people see pets that way too, to be thrown away when they don't like them anymore, but thats another subject. We as enthusiasts just have to hope we can catch as many of them as possible before they head to the junkyard, and save what parts we can if they do make it there.

None of this really matters anymore, because the original poster no longer has an MJ.

The SCCA Coamnches ran the 2.5 also, dint they? Id like to see thee specs on those engines and what mods they did to them to make them go. Anyone know where or even if this info is available?

project i dont have a name yet
dasbulliwagen replied to waggy's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Why are you parting out your waggy? Sounds like it was a pretty sweet XJ from all the stuff youre pulling off it. I just swapped a waggy front end onto my 87 MJ. You can see pics in the projects section under " Comanche Limited" Good luck with the build! -
I think all the Dodge Chrysler cars and minivans will fit too, and also the nitro. At work we have a set of 17 inch steel wheels from a 300 sitting in storage. I pulled one out once to see if it would fit, and it was perfect, center was the right size too. Youll just have to be careful of the backspacing on them though as most of them are front wheel drives, except for the newer 300/charger/magnum/challenger.

The ones I used almost 20 years ago, were more like a soldering iron that had a place you could stick your plastic rod into and melt the two surfaces together. You needed to identify the original plastic and use the correct rod when doing the job as well. My recent foray into this was on the electric cooling fan I mounted in my 2.5. I used a high temp 2 part epoxy I bought from Lowes, scuffed the surfaces with a little grinder, and it seems to be holding real well so far. I didnt do anything to pretty up the joints though, just painted it satin black with plastic paint. Though to think about it, some fiberglass mat going over all the joints would help with strength along with the 2 part epoxy. Good luck, and send us some pics of how you do it!

Al Gore getting one for that stupid movie was a fluke, but them giving another one to Obama for doing nothing just means that the Nobel Prize no longer has any credibility. He gets a million dollars too... to continiue doing nothing. Its just joke now. The Nobel prize used to mean something, I guess that isnt the case anymore. And it is insulting to those who really did do something. Wasnt there a middle east terrorist leader who got one a few years back? I can't think of his name. Its all a bunch of BS!

Yeah I think the donor will get fixed up down the road. Maybe a bed bob, bedliner paint job? Who knows. Its too clean to scrap it out. But If I ever do, this place will get first dibs at it. Thanks Guys!

Wheels interchange?
dasbulliwagen replied to johnj92131's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The 17, 18, and 20 inch wheels from the Jeep compass and patriot will bolt up though, but not sure on the backspacing... same goes for the liberty/nitro. -
Is shark repellant what its called when you shart yourself in the water when you see a shark swimming around you? :ack:

Thanks for stating that eagle, Ive been wanting to say it to, but didnt want to offend. The very least that needs to be done is drop the pan and put in a melling high volume pump. I bought one for my Gr Wagoneer 4.2 years ago from Autozone. Put a pump in it, and re check pressures then go from there. If you still have little to no pressure, time for a bottom end rebuild.
