  1. I'm not sure about the canadian economy, or where you are in BC, but if you are anywhere near Vancouver, you may as well forget about it. But it is a buyers market in most places, and with the number of forclosures you could snag a deal. And like you said, who knows what its going to be like next year, go for it now if you can.
  2. We need more details... engine size, trans, year etc. My 2.5 does this, I think I read once that it takes three revolutions for the computer to get a proper crank signal, and after that it will start, and the high rev at least on my 2.5 is the throttle actuator that revs it up more at startup on a cold engine, it also bumps up the throttle for AC operation and high power steering pump pressures. Let us know what you got!
  3. Are you allowed to pull parts out of the cars? Where do the cars go once you kill them? Our dealership owner has allowed us employees that showed interest, remove body and interior parts from the vehicle at no charge to us. I know there are many dealers who are not allowing this. Our sales dept even sold wheels off of some of them before we even got a chance at parts. I got a ton of stuff for my MJ, including an entire front clip off of a wagoneer, including all power doors and antenna, skid plates, wheels ( if we replace them with something else), interior trim parts and electrics. Once they are killed, they get sold to junkyards or directly for scrap. I think the titles get registered and will not be able to be salvage titles. I guess I'm lucky to be able to save a few parts. And so are several of the other guys that work here who all but stripped all the XJ's and ZJ's we got.
  4. I think I d like to see one without the stupid grille and body kit. Just the high roof, and a lift kit and big tires, maybe a roof rack. It might look OK then, I think the body kit and grille make it look too much like a freakin minivan.
  5. Found these in the yard the other morning, they are pretty big actually, never seen any like them before.
  6. Pull the fuel pump relay and stick a wire in to where terminal numbers 30 and 87 go, this will make the pump run as long as you need it to.
  7. Yeah, you never see any on the highway, but you will see them around town. I guess a vehicle of that vintage is almost never the first choice for a highway trip, though I will take mine to the big city when needed. A half hour trip is about all I want to subject it to at that speed.
  8. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! microwave popcorn!
  9. Go to Wal-Mart, spend $50 and buy a new one. By the time you invest parts and your time in this one, youll have spent more than the $50. Or go to your habitat for humanity re-store and buy a used one for 10-20 bucks.... or how about yard sales this weekend?? HUH? HUH???
  10. You are correct sir! And I just now thought of it, Check your headlight switch, where the dimmer turns all the way to the left, it should give them power too, make sure it isnt on all the time right now.
  11. We just did our first two CFC killings, one Dodoge ram 1500 with a 360, and a suburban, they died in a very non exciting way. We poured in the sodium silicate (liquid glass) and they just slowly ground to a halt. Thats it! Two down 20 to go, including 5 XJs, 3 ZJs, and one WJ. RIP
  12. I put a set of P195/45R15's on a VW I once had. That'll lower you down some! Bad thing is, I don't think they make that size anymore.
  13. The switches are the grounds for the lights. Remove and adjust the door switches, both sides, one must be stuck on, maybe a bad spring. Play with them and see if it makes a difference. New ones are cheap enough if you have to replace them. I bought new ones for mine through the dealer, they still have them!
  14. Your girlfriend must live with her parents... hehehehehe
  15. She is sooo hot! I wish she was still on the show! I don't know where they find all those overacting idiots for the power block. If it werent for some of the good content, I wouldnt watch them at all. And then they get rid of the best "actor" they had (see above)! Sorry, I can't remember her name.
  16. What gets proven at the proving grounds? And what will you be maintaining? Just curious!
  17. But seriously... if you try to look up some desert racer MJ,s trophy truck style you may find pics of what you are looking for. Like these...
  18. Pete... why don't you tell us what you really think??? :D :D :D
  19. I figured I would wait till I got the controller to figure out the wiring. It of course will have relays and good heavy wiring, and Ill work the rest of it out when I get to that point. Maybe I should do the headlights to relays at the same time! Maybe, if I have time to. It would be good to do that when I swap in my Wagoneer front end. We'll see!
  20. I ordered my next reman Mopar pump, as they no longer carry new ones, ans also ordered a fan controller, found the Spal for $50, and another brand, through Keystone catalog for $58, I ordered the one through Keystone because our dealer has an account with them, and I won't pay shipping. I have a fan assy from a WJ, the one that was recalled. Sometimes people wouldnt know about the recall and replace their fan themselves out of pocket, then find out about the recall, and come in and have another new one installed. Many of the WJ's ran only the electric fan, so I think properly installed it should do fine on my 2.5. The size is similar to the radiator too. I'm going tonight to limp the truck home. Wish me luck!
  21. I installed the cone filter cold air tube recently as I was doing my power steering conversion, but have yet to check to see if it made a difference in the oil or TB. And now that I'm replacing another water pump, I have decided to get the Spal electric fan controller and get rid of the engine driven fan. That is probably the next best thing to gearing that will help the 2.5. It will definitely do more than a spacer, but I too will probably get the spacer later on.

  23. Budget??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. Checked out the truck, found water dripping below the water pump... the MOPAR reman pump I put on a year ago. I think it ran low on coolant and then pressure blew past the rad cap spewing everywhere. I was hoping for a busted heater valve, but I guess Ill be getting another new pump.... maybe time for an electric fan conversion!
  25. From what little research Ive done, reading here and other places, they say it can help a throttle body or carb setup some, but really no help to a port injected setup. And just about everyone Ive seen say it is worthless has put it on a port injected engine. I don't remember the price of one, but I don't think it was much, and if it helps a little, it may be worth it for us 2.5 guys. Yes I agree gearing is the best thing you can do, but a touch more power can't hurt either. Ive gone to 4:10 on my MJ, and it has helped, butyou laways want more. And many of us with 2.5's don't have the option of swapping to a 4.0 easilly. I say go for it, it can't hurt, and could even help a little, just don't get your hopes to high!
