I know extreme 4x4 on power block was a rerun, but it was like a complete Rusty's love fest on there today. I know that extreme is getting paid by them to be like that, but are we the only ones that don't like Rusty's or are other forums/clubs like us, when it come to them? Just thought Id throw this out there. I don't really frequent any other forums so I don't really have a clue when it comes to this. Can anyone share their experiences on other forums about rusty's or are we alone?

Wasnt there someone talking about getting rear discs for these froma crown vic? Id like to know more about that too if it is what it is. -
Not true. Had a friend get busted like that in a private parking lot. Got a ticket for "Performance Driving"... it was like a 4 point ticket!

An AX15 would not have been mounted behind the 2.5 in an XJ. It would have been the AX5.

Question about steering
dasbulliwagen replied to BigMac72's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
To convert your AC to r134a you should get a new accumulator or receiver dryer.... can't remember which its called on this model, and a R134a conversion kit for your model.... most parts stores should be able to help with this. Install the new accumulator, install the R134a fittings in their proper places and take it to a shop to have it properly vacuumed and charged with new oil. Not really a big deal. -

To swap the 4.0 into an 86, you MAY or may not need to finnesse the firewall, and you will need to swap the front core suppert in order to use the 4.0 radiator, because theres no way the 2.8/2.5 rad will work with the 4.0. I'm not sure if its just a bolt up job, but I'm sure someone else will chime in with that.... I'm thinking there will be some welding? You seem to be on track with everything else. You will probably need a rear driveshaft made to fit because the cherokee one will be too short, and the comanche original will be too long. The 86 most likely has a dana 35 with probably 4:56 gearing... but that will need to be confirmed. 86 metric tonne models came with a nice AMC corporate 20 rear end, which is comparable to a dana 44, but they are extremely rare. Do not campare this 20 to the CJ 20 with its weakness, they are different animals. Let us know what you find and keep us updated. And start a thread in the projects section! -
Got pulled over in mine for failing to put my new plate sticker on.... the new registration and sticker was right there in my ashtray waiting to go on. Cop saw I was really up to date and let me go!

HEHEHEEHEHE!!!! Been there done that! I also did the 2x4 as a cab lift to compensate for rotted floor and cab sag in a Ford Ranger. ALuminum street signs work real good too! I'm glad I don't live up north anymore!

50 liters is more like 12 Gallons..... not that it matters.... you do a lot of riding... thats the point! Looks like fun. I never got to ride a quad, but My bike I think gives the same feeling of being out and free. Keep it up and good luck with your training!

Read somewhere that it has pulled in more than 1 BILLION dollars in box office worldwide already. BILLION!

Where in North Carolina are you guys? I'm in Asheboro. -
Bought steel today to begin fabrication of bumper mounts for an XJ rear bumper. When I get started I will make sure to take pics and maybe make a DIY thread. From initial looking and measurements it should be fairly easy and straightforward. I would like to add a hitch at the same time too if possible, I have a bunch of parts to fab one from so we will see what happens. Ill keep ya posted.

You won't get the built up stink of burned kerosene if you go with the propane unit. In an enclose garage too, you should eventually look into a permanent forced air heat system to bring fresh air in or at least to separate the burned air and vent it out so as to avaoid carbon monoxide poisoning.

Seeing those pics makes me really want to finish my 4x conversion! NICE!

WJ KNuckle and brake swap.
dasbulliwagen replied to pingpong's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a WJ Dana 30 sitting (BURIED) underneath my workbench. I havent taken any measurements to compare between the XJ/MJ Dana 30 and the WJ Dana 30, but the upper and lower control arms are the same lengths, and measuring the bolt pattern shows 4 1/2. My thinking (that could and probably is wrong) is that the spring buckets and control arm mounts may be spaced farther apart than on the smaller XJ/MJ platform. I would love it if someone would chime in to confirm or not, but then again I'm the one with a WJ axle sitting around. If I can soon, Ill try to measure the front parts of the MJ for comparison, but its been real cold here and I don't feel like laying on the ground. Let me know if you really need this info assuming no one else chimes in and Ill make sure to get it. -
Metal or rubber fill plugs has nothing to do with what axle you have. I have dana 35's with both styles in them. And a 4cyl truck most likely won't have a dana 44. Sorry. It will probably have 4:10 gearing though!

Also add a bottle of Lucas Power steering stop leak. It is really good stuff and will also help with noise. I have it in my truck and use it at work as well.

I really don't know that I could see paying anywhere close to their asking price, even if it is totally rust free, which in your neck of the woods isall but impossible. I know it is really low milage, but at the age these trucks are, milage isnt really an issue anymore....like buying my beloved Volkswagen Beetles, when they are that old milage doesnt matter to anyone anymore...just condition. And I don't see this being in good enough condition to be worth $2500. It doesnt appear to be in any better conditon than my truck was when I bought it with 336,000 miles on it. Just be careful about what you pay for this if you get it.Good luck!

Another trans to consider would be the NV 3550. Though I can't tell you at the moment which vehicles to look at as donors. It is a much smoother trans than the AX models, but will also be more costly to find used.
