  1. This just shows you what America's real national religion is..... POP CULTURE. Thats how Obama got elected. It is what is popular, whats famous, whats celebrity, and because of that, it is what is important to many many many shallow people that populate our country and can't see what is beyond their TV or their IPOD, or their cellphone. It doesnt matter what is important! All that matters is what their celebs tell them is important, what their liberal news media tell them is important. Thats why 1 billion people will watch Tiger apologize for being an azz. And as long as we are talking about Tiger....He knew of his love for the ladies and ceelebrity early on. Why he ever got married to begin with I will never know. He could have stayed single, kept all his money, screwed all the girls he wanted to and never have been in any trouble! Its his owwn darned fault!
  2. One Jeep dealer I used to work at lifted brand new JK Wranglers, and threw out all the unused new take off parts. I grabbed a bunch of stuff from that including front and rear shocks. They are about one inch longer than MJ stock shocks.... at least on my 2wd 2.5. I did some slight modifications to the ends and installed the rear ones already and they work great. I modded the front ones too to fit but have yet to install them.... waiting to do my 4x4 conversion. But I expect them to work fine too! JK is '07 up Wrangler.
  3. I think that manifold and carb would put the 2.8 to a spectacular death! If youre planning on doing this swap, just start gathering parts and do it when youre ready! I am pretty easy on my rides. Even so, killing the 2.8 isn't necessarily a bad thing. I am more concerned of whether the mileage will be worse, and not better. I am much more concerned with mileage and reliability than speed. The carb is the original carb on this thing, afterall. So it's days are numbered. Nice bike, btw. Always wanted an S1. Mebbe someone will trade me one for my driveline and chassis parts ;). BTW, can ya put a 3.4L that was tied to an auto in to a Comanche with a stick, or is the boss too difficult to machine? From what Ive read, You use your original 2.8 flywheel, but take it and have it nuetrally balanced.... it should bolt right up! Thanks for the compliment on the bike! It is fun! But Id really love to have a softail or a roadking at this point, as I'm not as young as I used to be, but I won't get rid of the bike till I have another lined up. And that doesnt appear to be happening anytime soon.
  4. I think I may go and sell it. Is it worth a damn to put the intake and carb on the 2.8 until I can find the 3.4L, or is it too much carbeuretion for the 2.8? I think that manifold and carb would put the 2.8 to a spectacular death! If youre planning on doing this swap, just start gathering parts and do it when youre ready!
  5. I'm slowly working to finish my rear bumper and trailer hitch project, but in the last couple of days, the boss has been wanting to drive his and after years of neglect he is finnally doing some stuff to it. I know pretty much all of whats wrong with it, but knowing too his aversion to spending any money on it, I have not suggested anything. I guess this week things are finally getting to him.... during last weekends snow he tried to use the 4wd and it wouldnt work, so he had me look at that. Of course it was the CAD, I founf the vac lines to it completely missing, so I made up a new set and cleaned it all up and got it working, then today he finally tired of the squeely belt and the muffler rattle, so I installed a new muffler and new belt... al quiet now! Oh yeah... his is a 1988 Olympic Edition 4.0 auto 4x4 SWB.
  6. I can only assume that this is a mud bogger project. Because I don't think I wouyld want to put up with that engine in a crawler or trail rig. Looks good though... keep up the good work!
  7. I'm not sure if you already have one or not, or have ever had one, but a spare running tagged vehicle around is a great thing to have. I can't even count how many times Ive had to turn to my spare vehicle because one of the others could not be driven for whatever reason. If you can, keep it around just to have that little insurance policy of a spare car when its needed. You won't regret it!
  8. :agree: Sell the I5 stuff, buy a used 3.4 and a 4bbl manifold and a 390cfm holley and have fun!
  9. I like how it says they offer a 4 speed manual behind the 4.0!
  10. ^^^^^ WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!
  11. We need more details about your truck.... engine size, trans type, year, all that good stuff. But most conversions need a 4wd trans and transfer case with the TC linkage and handle assy, Front driveshaft from same donor, If youre getting donor parts from an XJ you will need to get a new rear driveshaft or have your 2wd one cut down and re balanced. The hole for the TC shifter is already in your floor, just blocked off.... fairly straightforward swap... especially if you have a complete donor vehicle, just swap all need parts directly over. Just remember youll need a donor from the same engine size and family (meaning renix to renix, HO to HO, 4cyl to 4 cyl) to be as easy as possible and to make you speedo still work.
  12. Just did one today on a ZJ, 15mm and 13mm for the starter bolts, but 13mm and 8mm for the electric connection.
  13. My guess too would be the dimmer in the headlight switch assy itself.... probly need a new switch.
  14. Maybe didn't 'splain well. Sorry 'bout that. Of course the dealer would order the part from the warehouse, get it in, and add 10% to what it cost them (dealer cost) and sell it to the customer for that price. Didn't know if the warehouse could drop ship to customer instead of having to ship to dealer. Probably not. Probably the way it would be done to save special order freight cost is when the order is received from a customer, it would be shipped with regular stock order. When I worked at a Ford Parts Dept, we did a lot of that for customer parts. But, as with "Megan Joy," a back plate is a less expensive and less "permanent" fix. Did the dealer say they would sell it at cost plus 10, because I bet you they won't, even if it is a part they have a butload of at the warehouse. I'm a Chrysler dealer tech, and know what youre talking about, but unless youre an employee or someone who has this type of deal set up already, I don't think they will do that for you. I'm not tying to be an azz, just saying I don't think youll get it at that price. And cost plus 10 is normal employee price at my dealer.... I don't think youll get it.
  15. The Jeeps got your blood pumping, but Daryl Hannah walking naked up the beach didnt???? Or did you watch the edited version? They cut all that out of the edited version. Go get a copy somewhere else and see full frontal Daryl Hannah!!!
  16. V8 ZJ sway bar....Grand cherokee up to 1998 with a v8 engine will bolt right up, make sure you get the bushings and mount plates with it as they are sized to the sway bar. The door seals are thicker and seal up better.... easy upgrades!
  17. If the parts are in the warehouse, they will not sell them to you for cost plus 10. Its the national warehouse, not something that belongs to that dealer. If they had them in stock at that dealer, and they had been sitting on the shelf for three years, then maybe they would, but I don't see them letting you for the warehouse ones. The warehouse ones don't count in the dealers inventory and therefore the dealer does not need to make any concessions on them to get rid of them.
  18. Rare... metric tonne MJ's ... 4 cyl automatic MJ's
  19. The entire system is not covered by that lifetime warranty, only one or two of the components. And, frankly, knowing that when the system fails it will leave me with no brakes tells me the lifetime warranty is a sick joke. It won't help me if I'm dead. If you read the recall notice, it tells you that if you can't get the shaft out of the housing, you can then order the whole unit, I don't even screw around with trying to fix them, I just order the whole assy and write in that I couldnt remove the shaft!
  20. This is true, also that ABS system has a chrysler lifetime warranty due to the recall they put on the systems.... there is no sense in trying to repair it, just replace, though here at the dealer we have to replace it with another rebuilt ABS system the same as the old.... they are a pain in the azz! If it has it, just replace it with a regular unit like stated above, you could even upgrade if you wanted to to a 96-96 style or WJ style!
  21. I take it the word "shine" is a relative term!
  22. Sorry, it just don't look right!
  23. We went today and bought a new sectional sofa in microfiber.... I know, I'm sooo romantic! We don't really buy each other stuff, we just get stuff we need for the house or whatever.... shes not a jewelry or flowers type of person... that and shes cheap. Cheap to a fault. Oh well, less money I have to spend on useless crap!
  24. I was wondering what it was for too.... thought maybe a nice demo derby car!
