A search on car-part.com the other day showed me to find that 87-89 had 4:56 available... didnt see any of them on any other years. But that don't mean it didnt happen!

Is that 3:56 gears, or 4:56 gears???

If this truck is not what you were expecting, then get rid of it.... meaning sell it to someone who does think its worth it.... and get something else, because frankly, I'm tired of hearing you say youre going to scrap it. Youre obviously not happy with it and I don't think you ever will be. You havent had it that long either... not much time to fix it up to give it that wow factor youre looking for. Ive had mine almost three years now starting out with a $250 truck that was caked with an inch of tree sap and ran like crap. But after three years and not much if any of a budget, it is getting to that point. You can't expect miracles, especially if you can't spend much money on it. You have the first step beat... getting it running good. Now its time to add your personal touch to it by fixing it up cosmetically and making upgrades... just don't get pissed about it if it don't happen overnight! After three years I have mine running good, Ive made a few upgrades, and have more on the backburner. I got it running good first, and justdrove it for a while till I discovered this site... since then Ive bought a second Comanche parts truck with 5 speed trans and 4:10 gears and 4x4... which is all getting swapped into mine, Ive added cold air intake, flowmaster exhaust, electric cooling fan, Ive added a Waggoneer grille, and have ready to install power window and lock doors with movable vent windows. I also swapped the power steering and AC from the donor truck, made custom rear bumper brackets to install a cherokee rear bumper, and I'm in the process of making a rear hitch for it. There are a million things you can do to make it your own if you want to. Just quit bitchin about it or sell it to someone who treat it the way it deserves!

Spring perches for Chrysler 8.25
dasbulliwagen replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I wish I could do that, but the dealer near me closed. The next closest is about 45 mins away and they close during the week before I can get there. Credit cards will take care of that.... Call, pay and have them leave it outside where you can get it!!! CW Sales dept stays late every day, have the parts guy leave it with sales manager, and pick it up from them after parts hours! -
2.5 questions...update 5/20/2010
dasbulliwagen replied to manimal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Good trade for a running truck! Once you get it home, go over everything, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, good gas..... youll be suprised what a difference they can make. Mine was like that when I got it... had been basically sitting for 4 years, but the owner started it every week and made sure it was still running, but it ran like crap after sitting that long and neglected, wouldnt idle. I tuned it up, put good gas in it, and I got it to idle and started driving it, the more I drove it the better it ran, up to a point, it would still buck and miss quite a bit, so then I replaced the O2 sensor and its run perfectly ever since. That engine is just about indestructable, so check it over and I'm sure youll be fine. -

2.5 questions...update 5/20/2010
dasbulliwagen replied to manimal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ive done a bunch of those mods on my 2.5 already... the cold air intake, electric fan, gutted cat converter, and a flowmaster 50 series muffler. I have an extra 2.5 that I plan to rebuild with ported head, cam, and a header, I'm not sure on the intake yet as I don't know if I want to stay with the injection or go with the clifford intake and put on a 390 cfm holley 4 barrel. Ive been wondering though lately if a 2bbl injector from chevy pickup could be modified on to the clifford intake and tied into the factory harness..... I have some research to do! There a few of us 2.5 lovers on here, so don't get too discouraged by all the yelling voices that say to swap a 4.0. Good luck! -
Yeah JBHILL... he's still working on it.

Seems like just about every Cherokee I see around here that has ANY kind of lift is dogtracking really bad.... looks stupid to me. They all need an adjustable track bar and professional alignment, which most of these guys just don't do because all they want is the lift right off and don't think it all through to make it right. And most adjustable bars Ive seen only have the adjustment on one end, so the bar needs to be taken loose in order to adjust it, theyre not usually like a tie rod where you loosen the adjuster and then turn it. It would be nice if they were, but they probably wouldnt be as strong that way.

17'' rim with jeep bolt patern
dasbulliwagen replied to wannabeMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The new Patriots and Compass, caliber have rims that are the right bolt pattern too. and the current libbys and Nitros too. -
You can buy anything that isnt the engine or complete vehicle, that means you can buy the bed, trans, axles or anything else, you just can't buy it whole and re title it, or buy the engine.

17'' rim with jeep bolt patern
dasbulliwagen replied to wannabeMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
05 and newer Chrysler 300, Dodge Magnum, Charger and Challenger have 17" steel wheels and the cop cars have 18" steel wheels that really arent bad looking if you can find them. The 17", 18", 20" are also available in aluminums, but like the other guy said, check the backspacing, I know that the lugs and the hub centers are right, but I'm not sure about the backspacing. There was a set of 17" steelies sitting here at work for awhile and I put one up to my Comanche parts truck while the wheels were off to just see if it would bolt up but didnt think to look at the inner clearance. I think another employee made them disappear before he quit to put on his Ford Galaxie. Id like to have a set of the 18" cop wheels for my 86 build when and if I ever get around to it... -
I don't care for the idea of DBW either, but being a current Chysler tech, Ive yet to see any problems ... at least with the Chrysler systems, and have only seen 2, in 4 years of working with them, that have failed in safe mode. They are installing them to keep throttle opening and closing speeds at levels that the computer system can keep up with to control emissions. Thats the same reason they want to do away with manual transmissions too. There is already too much of that happening already with the ever growing laziness of the american public. Dealers just don't want to carry manuals because they sit on the lot too long before being sold. Its just sad. :(

Looks like a Challenger with a slightly different nose and a fastback.... wouldnt be much of a stretch to build one... though I don't see it happening...... Wasnt that an April fools article from hot rod last year?

Yes 4cyl auto from 87 to 89.... at least thats what I found on www.car-part.com . There is only a handful of them around the country... at least with those that list on that website. Price from $250 to $400. There were others listed there too that I'm pretty sure werent 4:56 geared though so youll have to call the yard to confirm anything. Good luck!

Thats one of the first things I did when I got mine. I set it up in the woods in the backyard two years agoi. And last fall, a neighbor comes by and asks if he can buy it if it would fit his F150 Lightning stepside. I told him that if it fits and he can use it, he can have it! It was gone three days later, and I saw it on his truck as we left out to head north for christmas. I guess he just wanted it for when he takes long trips south, to keep everything protected. Whatever works!

possible purchase of a 92
dasbulliwagen replied to blusteve's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
still worth $700!!! Those items are minor, and the hinge is a common repair. As long as it runs, its worth it! -
All that matters is if you like it. Just remember that! I personally, now that I see what youre doing....hate it. Sorry. I applaud you for trying it though!

Has anyone done this swap ? WJ Knuckles ....
dasbulliwagen replied to DJM/78's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm curious about this too, as I have a bad WJ dana 30 sitting under my bench at work. It still has all the steering stuff on it, but not the brakes. I thought it would be a good swap for if I ever put a lif on it. This would raise the drag link up where it is supposed to be for correct steering angles ( I think ), and the brakes would be a nice upgrade, though I'm not sure it could still use 15" wheels. Time will tell! -
In England, Japan, or Australia do they have left hand drive Jeeps as mail cars? Just wondering.

When I added dual horns to mine from a wagoneer, There was 2 wires to the horn that were both together to the horn terminal. I didnt think much of it till I noticed a same color wire not attached to anything on the other side of the front end. It was the other wire from my original horn. I noticed this after making a wire and mount for the second horn both on the driver side!.... so it was already wired for two horns.
