2011 Grand Cherokee and it possible Alfa brother!
dasbulliwagen replied to dasbulliwagen's topic in The Pub
The new Grand will also have adjustable suspension, that will allow you to get an instant 4.5" of lift on demand. Also, the forward facing side of the headlight reflectors will have a Jeep emblem built into it! And the headlights will self adjust when the vehicle is lifted so as not to blind anybody. Just some info. I havent seen one in person, so I'm kinda reserving judgement. -
I pulled the Chrysler history for Eagle... it has been titled, and no it doesnt come with any warranty... but it did have 2 recalls performed on it in 01 and 03.

2011 Grand Cherokee and it possible Alfa brother!
dasbulliwagen replied to dasbulliwagen's topic in The Pub
Also no SRT Grand for 2011 either... maybe in a year or so, but you can still get it with a Hemi. -
here's a better pic of the 2011 Grand....looks much better than I thought it did before.... thoug I thought the same of the new Ram pickups too.... they are much better in person. The article on allpar.com also shows a very possible Alfa Romeo version of the Grand also... very intersting! "An Alfa Romeo-based Grand Cherokee has been all but confirmed; below is an artist’s representation of how hit may appear. The Alfa might only be sold in export markets, where Fiat and Alfa Romeo are mainstream brands with heavy dealer, service, and parts support; or it might be sold in the US as well, adding an “import brand” stamp to those who positively will not buy an American vehicle. An extended version, dubbed the Dodge Durango (possibly Dodge Magnum), was also planned; this would go beyond the old Jeep Commander idea and provide minivan-like interior space." Also found a Durango based on the Grand.... not bad looking

Yes, I was. Yeah, I expect that the tires may have some dry rot and the battery won't live five years, but this was a NEW Cherokee Limited. I checked it over. It had not been driven. All window stickers were still in place. It is definitely worth $22,000. no, it is NOT worth 22,000. it's a tin can that you're giving to a person who doesn't have driving experience. it's 10 years old. it's never been driven. tires are gonna be junk, battery junk, all fluids junk, and quite possibly will have issues with the trans etc. from not being lubricated for all of 10 years. so, I think you're nuts as far as that goes. as far as your question...did they cash the check? you may have had a sales contract, but unless they cashed the check, you didn't have a binding contract. How will the trans have issues if it hasn't been driven? If the parts are not moving, they don't really need lubricating?? So a NOS trans that's been sitting in a warehouse for years at Chysler is gonna have issues? The only issues should be contaminated trans fluid, or the fluid has broken down and lost its lubricating or heat dissipating abilities. But if the fluid has never done anything but sit there, how can it be contaminated?! Do a full flush and with new fluids it should be fine. How is that any different than you taking something out of a JY rig that's been sitting for years, USED, and putting it in your truck? :dunce: :smart: The clutches and the seals can dry out after sitting soo long and no longer grip or seal properly if they arent getting a regular drenching of fluid to keep that from happening. Ive seen it happen, and can only be fixed with a rebuild.

WJ steering conversion
dasbulliwagen replied to 88pioneer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Youll need different unit bearings so you can mount your old wheels as the WJ ones have a different bolt pattern, and I think maybe some spacers? and maybe different axle shafts? I'm sure others will chime in. I need to know to as I have this mod planned as well. -
If your original horn wire connector has two wires spiced together at the connector, one of those wires goes to the other side in the front... same color... I found this out after wiring in a second horn on the driver side. I saw the wire just dangling there and wondered what it was for, saw it was the same color as my horn wires and then tested it...HORN!

Flowmaster 40 or a simple glasspack will get you what you want.

The 3.8 is being phased out along with the 3.7, and the 2.7 being replaced by the new direct injection 3.6 that will show up in the new grand cherokee this spring... but yes, the JK needs a V8 option and a good diesel option..... as well as them building a real pickup like the one here that we love so much!

Just found an actual article about this.... it is actually a Chyrsler concept vehicle. The nose is made of carbon fiber and the bed is from AEV Brute. Ill copy and paste a link and text.... http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/31/chry ... safari-20/ [source] Our personal favorite? That has to be the Jeep Nukizer 715 (above). While the name could use a little work, this truck is the epitome of what we want to see Jeep produce. Designed as an homage to the legendary Kaiser M-715, this beastie makes use of a J8 two-door body and an aftermarket AEV Brute pick-up bed. Chrysler's engineers built that leaning front nose out of carbon fiber, and stretched the frame to 124 inches to make a little more room for the new bodywork. It only gets better when we start talking drivetrain. At its beating heart, the Nukizer 715 uses a 2.8-liter tubo-diesel four-cylinder mated to a four-speed slusher. A Dana 44 axle sits up front, backed up by a Dana 60 in the rear, both with 5:38 gear ratios. Perfection? You're looking at it.

I feel your pain, and hope the best for all involved, but it always amazes me how many places are built next to a river on a flood plain... and then everyones always suprised when they get flooded. Natures a real bee-ahtch! don't mess with her!

You have way to much time on your hands!

Ive been into Beetles for 20 years and have never seen anything like that. And with my knowledge of bugs, I know too, that a camper like that would make a bug eat a number three cylinder exhaust valve in no time! Those engines in the later years couldnt even handle having AC added to them without overheating... let alone pulling a camper! I love em though and still have it in the back of mind that I want to build a rail buggy sometime... though over the last ten years or so the parts for them are getting more and more expensive. The last one I really built was a 59 Microbus panel van. I had about $5000 in motor and trans alone. It was sweet, a dual 2 barrel throttle bodies each with 48mm bores and port injected with a serpentine belt system and all the other goodies... it was slammed to the ground sitting on 195/45R15 tires....NICE. Sorry for the reminice!

What are folks opinions of the 2009-10 Cadillac CTS
dasbulliwagen replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in The Pub
Is the CTS a warmed over Opel? Maybe even made in germany? You should research that. I really don't know, but I do know that GM's Opel division provides a few platforms for their American divisions. Maybe if it is made in germany, thats why the ratings are so high. -
I did read an article saying that FIAT wants to expand the Jeep lineup, but weather or not they do something as awesome as this has yet to be seen.

More axle swap questions.
dasbulliwagen replied to JeepinSoldier's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Go to the dealer for the perches, they arre cheaper, stronger and come in pairs and you can have them next day if ordered before 2 with no shipping. MOPAR makes very nice perches and they are only like 12 or 18 bucks for the pair... can't remember exactly. They may be your best bet for a speedo gear too... good luck! -
