  1. There is someone on here doing the Isuzu swap... its in the projects section somewhere..... a lot of work from what Ive seen! Good luck!
  2. There are a couple of companies that make intake manifolds for the 2.8 that would allow you to use a 390cfm holley 4 barrel, or a standard 2 barrel. It would cost you more that way, but youd get better performance and reliability.
  3. Having moved from michigan to North Carolina.... I too know the rust thing, and if it was my choice I go for the rust free one and fix it...probably just needs clean gas and a crank sensor. You can swap buckets into the 88 and make it how you want it for sooooo much less hassle of rust repair, and then waiting for it to come back through on spliced panels.... and good luck finding a bed, and cab corners. Youll be much happier starting with a clean truck!
  4. Many of the above codes have been recycled by chrysler and mean different things now than what they used to be. So not all of the codes are 100 percent correct. The winch for the spare is standard on all trucks that came with a spare. Its the thing you crank to lower or raise the spare tire from its mount under the bed. 3:07 should be correct gearing for a 4.0 5 speed. Youre luck chrysler even has this info, 1988 is a crap shoot with it and 1987 and before there really isnt anything available due to Jeep being and AMC product at that point. I hope this helps you out!

  6. :agree:
  7. Time flies like an arrow.... Fruit flies like a banana.
  8. Is this for your truck... the Jeep. Chrysler says VIN not found... re check and re post or PM me and Ill try again. Also send me your milage... chrysler always asks for it when you run a VIN.
  9. GET IT? GET IT? uhuhuhuuhuhuhuuhuhuhuh!
  10. I think you either need more lift, or you really need to trim those fenders!
  11. Seeing as how you kept soo much of the factory air tube, you probably won't notice any performance gain at all. The smoother the flow you have from the filter to the throttle body the better, less restriction and turbulance equals higher airflow. If you can build a box around the filter too and seal up with the hood so it don't suck in hot air will help too, or extend the new tube down and mount the filter lower in the engine bay would help too. Nice work though, as always!
  12. Did you REPLACE the falsher units? I had this exact thing happen on my bosses MJ, it would slowly flash on one side and not flash at all on the other. Replaced the flasher unit, and theyre fixed. Its the small round aluminum looking can that pushes into the fuse block. There should be two of them, one for turn signals, and one for 4 ways. They both plug in the same, but I think the 4 way is a heavy duty unit so as to make all the lights flash at a reasonable speed. If you replace get new heavy duty flashers for both.
  13. If we can swap on 99 up WJ knuckles, I'm sure you will have no problem at all swapping the 89 stuff onto the 97. Just do it!
  14. Swapping in a 4.0 will not just be a bolt in deal, youll need the trans, wiring harnesses for the engine and dashboard, front driveshaft, shift linkages, have a rear driveshaft made, and other stuff. Youll basically need a whole donor Cherokee to swap everything over from, then still have to make a rear drivehsaft. A GM 2.8, 3.1, 3.4 will bolt to the bellhousing in your truck, but you would need a harness from a 2.8 and all accessories and motor mounts to make it bolt up and work.... just find another 2.5 from any year Comanche, Cherokee or Wrangler, and swap it in using all your old accesories, intake and exhaust, and flywheel. That would be the easiest swap for you if you really need to get this going.
  15. Please tell us she was named "Emma Jaye"!
  16. Yup, I"m getting there! Only thing is though, due to the radiation, I have no hair on either side of my head! Matt Another Buell rider! Gotta love it! Too bad our poor little comapny was given the axe.
  17. About three years ago, I had been looking for a REALLY cheap truck to have for weekend projects and whatnot. Id been looking at old Fords hoping to find one under $1000. A few came up here and there but they always wanted more than I could pay or were too far gone to mess with. I had told everyone I knew that I was looking, and a friend told me about a buddy of his that was selling everything off and moving cross country and that he had an old Jeep truck. Id always liked them but never really considered them a possibility due to the rarity. I asked what he wanted for it and he told me $250 and that it had been sitting for about 4 years. I went to look at it, and it was a solid rust free MJ with 336,000 miles on it. I told my buddy Id take it and work on it to get it running and we'd meet his buddy to pay for it. When We met to buy the truck his buddy opened the hood, hooked up the battery, and started it! Boy was I suprised. It didnt run good at all, but was good enough for me to drive it home! He said that he went out there once a week and drove it around the block to keep all the fluids moving, but that over the years it was running worse and worse. It didnt take much for me to get it going good and now its basicall an almost daily driver. Oh yeah, he was the original owner too, all the receipts for the truck are in the glove box! The rest is history!
  18. In my crappy fuse box, there is a fuse for the cluster that sometimes looses good contact, I just wiggle it a little and they start working again.
  19. Is there any real history to this truck or is it just a regular MJ with a retro paint job? I know its cool, and would be great to save one, but is it really worth it?
  20. Legally pete, but stored and repaired at Correy's... sounds good.
  21. First thing I did was the PS swap. I didnt notice any power drain at all. I noticed a touch of gain with the cold air tube, and a touch of gain with the electric fan, and a lot with the 4:10 gears, but when the AC compressor kicks in you notice a momentary drag on the engine and then back to normal... don't worry about a PS drain, it really only pulls a lot of power when you are turning at slower speeds, going straight it don't matter at all. If you do notice anything, it won't matter because youll be soo happy you don't have to force the wheel anymore!
  22. Search online for chemical supply companies... thats what the Mythbusters do. I have no idea where they found the humungous amount of cornstarch they used that one time, but I think they just searched online.
  23. Sorry, Chrysler don't have much info on the 87 models, you might be able to look up the codes somwhere else. 23583 - LOU'S JEEP-EAGLE INC Sales Type: 1 - DIRECT RETAIL City: GENEVA State/Province: IL Country: USA Telephone: (630)232-4016 Year/Model: 1987 DESC NOT FOUND Last Odometer: 0 Miles on Body Style: MJJL62 In-Service Date: Engine: ERB-DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE In-Service Odometer: 0 Miles Transmission: DGQ-DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE Odometer Type: Miles Color 1: PXF-DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE Car Line: XX Color 2: QXF-DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE Build Date: May 20, 1987 Current Market Register: Hour: 24 *X8 DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE - Q8 DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE AHL DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE APA DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE CAC DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE CGW DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE CKA DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE CLE DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE CUF DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE DGQ DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE DMR DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE ERB DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE GAC DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE GEC DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE GFD DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE GSC DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE HCC DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE JHA DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE JJA DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE LMA DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE MBJ DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE MDA DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE NAA DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE NFA DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE NHM DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE PXF DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE QXF DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE SBA DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE TBB DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE WJD DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE XEA DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE Z1B DESCRIPTION NOT AVAILABLE Special Equipment Code Description Code Description Code Description No Special Equipment Available Dealer Installed Equipment Code Description Code Description Code Description No Dealer Installed Equipment Available
