  1. Far from mr to encourage illegal behavior but it chaps my hide that we're conditioned to believe driving a jeep down a preexisting road does irreversible environmental damage. Yet Here in the ozark forest logging interests clear cut hundreds of acres in the process leaving rutted roads and paying no attention to the leavings. In the process making a hole in the forest thall be there 40years from now. Don't kit yourselves it ain't about the environment at all but rather where the $$ is.
  2. Thank god we bumped into page 2 as if this thread wasn't 56k unfriendly enough[;)] at this point it's done for a few days till some of the colors have a chance to cure, at which point I plan to add some small off white or tan blocks. odiously this is one of those projects that morph into something completely different than the plan you had at outset
  3. I saw that and quite frankly I'm staggered by the amount of time it must have taken. Hats off to whoever painted that one. I do however plan on blacking my grille in the same manner On a side note I'm considering adding another color to the mix to bust up the p[pattern a bit more. Prolly something halfway between tan and off white.
  4. slowly but surely Image Not Found Image Not Found
  5. it has begun Image Not Found I'm shooting for a pattern similar to the British Berlin Brigade's urban camo.http://www.emlra.org/articles/berlin_brigade.htm And yes urban camo comes in much different patterns and colors than the crappy pants you see sold from the back of a horse trailer in front of the flea market
  6. I have the below wrangler that I'm considering painting. It has its share of dents scrapes, and is in need of a windscreen frame. The current dark blue has gone completely flat. I'm anticipating doing a restoration in a couple years so this will be far from a perminate alteration. Now I could base coat the entire jeep in OD green and start from there but the tub will still be blue on the inside YUK! but what about using the existing flattened dark blue as a base for a "urban camo job" much like some of the aircraft in the USAF aggressor squadron. possibly in a digital format Any more pics of vehicles in such a color scheme would be very welcome, and of course any tips for getting the original paint to hold these other colors would be welcome as well.
  7. Well yeah if you pulled off the OE 800cfm carb and replaced it with the smallest v6 500cfm q-jet made I'm wondering how you bore a 560 block to a smaller 429 an engine which came in a cadillac no later than 1967 BTW 500-472-425 and the ill fated 368 v864 were the displacements you'd see through the 70's and early 80's
  8. You can't give folks a GM carb feedback system What year is the car? What tranny and what carburetor? Were you specifically looking for a 4.1 or did you simply snatch up the first buick v6 you could find?
  9. fyi, THAT caddy 4.1 v6 block is somewhat in demand by YOURS TRULY. :D Good eye. OK apparently I missed some back story care to fill us late arrivals in on your sinsiter plans?
  10. FYI those caddy 4.1 v6 blocks are somewhat in demand by the Buick Turbo crowd
  11. It's nothing to worry bout I had one crop up a year or so ago. If it doesn't diminish in a day or so see a Dr
  12. Then no I prolly don't have one. I was operating under the assumption that on an XJ they're in the console. The parts rig I have suffered from an underhood fire that also toasted a good portion of the dash
  13. my only rule is to NOT buy fuel at Murphy (WalMart) as all my vehicles run like crap and get terrible MPG on their over ethanolated (made up word) watered down fuel. My carburetor rigs would barely run on the stuff. I buy Shell when possible but it really doesn't matter as they all come from the same pipeline & truck (aside from walmart)
  14. I might have one..... where they located in the vehicle
  15. IMO bad sway bar links-bushings are also a very likely contributor. I've not owned a XJ yet that the bolts for the sway bar end links weren't loose or the bushings thrashed. My current rig was no exception
