I just cut the wires off and hard splice them together.. Or swap it out at parts store.

Soft shackles better then d rings. I have a few smaller snatches for cable, something simple you can find at your local farm store. They have been used for a few recoveries as well. can't go wrong with having few different sizes laying around and I can see you plan to buy quality for the long use of it. I havent had any complaints with my steel ones. can't say id shell out 200+ for one particular one. Would it be worth it...surely. can you justify it, then its worth it. Nicer one's have less friction and bearings on some and those be real nice. Id just search amazon for something that looks legit and expect it to work. Tossing around logs i would think steel cheap ones would work good with a nice atv winch. Pull them logs right on up on the platform. I was looking at these Arb knockoff snatch block ones and it even comes with a tree strap.

Exactly. i have been the same way, from no roof to a shed to a tarp to a single double and even a triple garage at one point. This being great but a pain as its nice having a steady place to work out of on the regular and not have to haul tools and what not around for projects. Also a thing when its not "your" space even. Something behind a man and his dream garage. . But through the years learning i just learned how to fix something with whats available and be happy when not getti g rained on during a Repair.
