  1. I bought some snow tires through tirerack and had them mounted at a walmart. worked out great for me. :D my local discount tire would not match their price, even with shipping and mounting costs. told me they only match brick-n-mortar prices. :fs1: mostly I just keep an eye on craigslist and local 4wd forums for screaming deals on practically new tires.
  2. I'm sure it'll have one eventually :D I moved the seat back to the original location now that he's 3 and can reach the pedals (Powerwheels say it's for ages 3+). still haven't been able to find the time to wire in the lights. also,t hebattery is not doing well. seems someone (cough*his grandpa*cough) forgot to plug it in to the trickle charger while I was in michigan and that plus the cold half-killed it. and since it's a Jeep, a breakdown is inevitable (pretend or not). gotta keep up on those fix-it skills :D admit it, you wish you had one of these when you were 3 :D
  3. that's my vid :D never did here back from the new owner :(
  4. and how many will pull up their carpet after seeing the Flintstones-mobiles many of us have. :( any location that can trap moisture needs regular inspection

michigan did that too. made us give up our white on blues for a blue on white for better readability.
  7. does the fan work on high at all?
  8. the parts involved with a limited slip swap will replace the carrier and will require gear setup. because of the labor cost involved, they are not cheap to add. If you want a limited slip diff, your cheapest route is likely a junkyard axle that already has it installed.
  9. the internal springs do that for you.
  10. x2. the only things you should be reusing from the MJ are the MJ-specific things like the gas tank, rear lights, etc.
  11. to sum it up... limited slip: generic term for a diff that tries hard to keep power going to both tires but will allow some differentiation if the going gets tough. this design can be expensive to get into your axle. locker: generic term for a diff that physically locks the two tires together when the going gets tough. this design has both expensive and cheaper types available. a "lunchbox locker replaces the spider gears inside the stock carrier and is relatively cheap and easy to install. a full diff locker is far more expensive but stronger because they replace the stock carrier. (the strength aspect won't matter in the case of the Dana 35 because the shafts in the axles will likely fail before the stock carrier) Dana 35C: the most common axle found under MJs and XJs. 1984-1989 were of a non C-clip axle retention design. 1990+ were of a C-clip axle retention design. The C in Dana 35C does not in any way refer to the C-clip. To sum up the summary: go buy a lunchbox style locker, install it, and then let us know how much you love it. :D one caveat to all this: the open diff that you have now is a better choice for snowy and icy streets (less traction, but far less likely to spin out). but in theory you could remove and install the lunchbox locker with the seasons.
  12. if you swap the XJ over wholesale, I think the fuel tank level wires need to be switched. something in my brain says they flipped them along the line and so an early sender with a later gauge (or vice versa) would give you a backwards gauge.
  13. weird. :dunno: The current software is reasably glitch free, but anything can happen. If it occurs again, post up in the problems forum so Alexia can see.
  14. moved it to the pub so more will see it
  15. nothing was done on our end

    I'm Back.

:waving: in the middle of a move myself. just got the 88 all comfortable in its new parking spot by the barn.
  17. consider a drop-in locker. 2-3 hundred to buy, should install relatively easy.
  18. you could easily have a problem with the switch. corrosion inside could be responsible for both the dash and the headlights. do the brights work?
  19. If what you want is great on-road performance for a stock-height MJ, it'll be hard to beat the WJ arms
  20. I would try wiring power directly to the pump.
  21. a pair of Cherokee lift pucks will work too.
  22.
  23. heat pumps essentially get less and less efficient as the temps drop. this is the weather than the "emergency heat" setting was created for.
  24. let the modifications begin! :)
