  1. you need to host the photo somewhere on the web. see here for tips: http://comancheclub.com/topic/37727-how-to-post-pictures/
  2. It's supposed to be 38*F tomorrow. It's been so long since it was above freezing I half expect to be in shorts while workin' in the garage. :D
  3. yeah, they could shrink those headlights just a wee bit...
  4. It is a little cutesy, but it's far less hideous than the new cherokee or the compass. I kinda like it. just not exactly sure why. I was hoping the next Jeep would be more of a mini-wrangler.
  5. There is it was old 87 xj and wore out pushing 300000 we can not control how PO treats our vehicles I'm sure I'm just like most on here who did not buy their trucks new sure a 4.0 is a great long lasting engine with proper maintenance or at least some maintenance but it is not invincible and when you get it with 150k to 200k to start with its hard to turn back the hands of time all I'm saying is there are dozens of things that can fail and leave you stranded, and the bottom of the 4.0 engine isn't even on my list. But a fresh engine would be nice to have too. while you're in there, replace some of the sensors too.
  6. you were on the side of the road with an internal engine failure? I'm sure there's a story there. :brows:
  7. found this guy in the woods behind my parent's place. my guess is that someone's shot wasn't quite accurate enough and now they are missing their trophy. also, I like beer. :D Oberon is my favorite.
  8. ooorrrrrrr, you could replace the leaky gasket and ignore the knock. In a Jeep inline engine, that's hardly a death-knell.
  9. very impressive. I've had a 30 gal freshy for years now and know how much of a pain it can be to find that just-right balance.
  10. anyone catch last week's Mythbusters? :brows: vacuum pump + looooong tube + pressurized choke chamber = 800+ mph ping pong ball WANT!
  11.
  12. :rock on: I vote for a metal band :D
  13. all classified stuff should be in the classifieds or in PMs. car-part.com should be able to help find some WJ lowers. I've purchased a couple sets for $30. If you don't find what you're looking for, you might try searching for a bigger ticket WJ item (engine/ front axle/etc) and then call the junkyards nearest to you and see if they have the arms available.
  14. Rockport offroad park in illinois Moab Badlands park in indiana
  15. if you look closely, you'll see I don't really have pinch seams anymore. :( so using them as support in any way was never an option. but on the other hand, if I had some rust free pinch seams, there's no WAY I'd be drilling holes through them. I live in Michigan and rust is always stalking you, just waiting for a opportunity, an opening... a weakness... don't remember what the round bars are but they were one step thicker than what is typically used in rollbars. the square ones are 1/4" walls. tie-in plates on the frame are 3/16" thick I think.
  16. I'm curious, whats a better way then? Weld all the way around? well, circles would be ideal. straight lines are bad. I fudged it a bit and nipped the corners on mine. it's sorta round now. :D but mine aren't welded on in the typical fashion. the tubes go through the frame and are welded to both sides.
  17. many many moons ago I went with a leather generic $#!&fer boot from jcw.com Came out pretty nice.
  18. an unlit propane torch works in lieu of carb cleaner.
  19. the factory is NOT to be assumed to be the perfect anything. they gave us the dana 35, the peugeot, the CAD, the god awful wiring for the headlights, the zip nuts that break off inside the frame, the plethora of leak spots to get water under the carpet, the bumper hitch made from sheetmetal, and the hideous-to-drive 3.07 ratio in the axles.
  20. it's not all that cut and dry. when I replaced the blown 3.07 d35 in my 88 (2wd/4.0/stick) with a 3.55 geared d44 my mpgs got better. don't believe the hype. :D there are plenty of reasons why your fuel economy might be a bit lower than it should, from off sensors to off calculations.
  21. Oreillys carries one: http://comancheclub.com/topic/42141-aw4-floor-shift-cable/?do=findComment&comment=427367
  22. where did you find the new cable?
  23. I didn't miss anything. I have a dvr. :D
