Z-28s don't that headlight issue :D I agree on the leaky t-tops though. and be careful about saggy doors. my father has a nice 83 Z28 HO. great little toy. :yes: I agree with the others and would just replace the carb. when it comes to hauling, more cubic inches is better. I'm going to go with my standard phrase: just because it's a good deal, doesn't necessarily mean it's a good idea.

buy a cheap XJ and use that as your winter driver. that's the ONLY way to keep your MJ nice. I'm serious. our trucks rot from the inside-out. there's no way to prevent your rockers from dying. there;s no way to keep your cab corners from dying. there's no way to prevent your doors from dying. there's no way to stop the red cancer from eating away at your truck except to keep it away from the salt. salt sucks. but if you want to slow the death, frequent car washes with an underbody nozzle can help.

update: changing out the pump cured it. but I wasn't able to reuse either of my older pumps because both had rotted pulley-attaching threads and you cannot use the old pulley on a newer jeep. it's close... close enough to work well enough for me to install one for a few seconds as a proof of concept, but it'll tear up the belt for sure. so I got a new pump and all seems well again. :D

I'll never go back to using a handheld light. :D worst part is I've done this before, forgotten all about it, and rediscovered it. my brain sucks. :fs1:

proper prep of the surface and a good technique for application are far more important than the chosen paint. :thumbsup: those are decent paints though. :yes:

I've had some insanely rusty MJs pass through my hands and none of them had leaks in the fuel tank.

unless it's crazy rusty or damaged, you really shouldn't need to do anything to it. :thumbsup:

has the radio ever lost power before? my kenwood had a "secret" spot I had to push any time it lost all power. sort of a lame an anti-theft measure I guess.

actually, I'm going to replace the line first. that'll allow me to cut the old line and check for any flow through the system. might as well pretend to be scientific :D

excellent. as I happen to have a couple 88 PS pumps lying around :D I'm also going to replace the low pressure hose, just for the heck of it.

anyone know if the older and newer pumps are interchangeable? I know the bracketry and such is different, but the pumps are tantalizingly similar...
