  1. what did the a904 come from? for that matter, what did the 4.0 come from? are they both from a wrangler? I don't believe the 904 has an overdrive.
  2. the 2.5L's transmission won't bolt up to a 4.0L.
  3. that is immensely impressive!
  4. that's why we have these little guys... :rotf: :rotfl2:
  5. I know I keep saying It, but someday I'm gonna get out to your place :D
  6. I should be in GA then. someone give me a shout :D
  7. you should do something with that collection. maybe mount them to a board and hang that on the wall as garage art. that'd clear up some shelf space. :D
  8. don't forget you'll need to add an electric fuel pump.
  9. Jeeps giving their organs for other Jeeps. circle of life. :D
  10. proof that jeeps can always be rebuilt :D
  11. fair enough. just be sure to read up on the 3.4/3.1 swap so you don't miss anything.
  12. I ended up doing the same. the straps technically reached over the 31s, but not enough to actually bite into the ratchets. since I had 750 miles to go (and I'm a bit of a safety freak) I also added a couple logging chains and 3 more big ratchet straps to the mix. I bet that trailer could have rolled and my truck would still be attached.
  13. I doubt it's that simple. a carb is a carb is a carb. as long as it is the proper size and the linkages can be hooked up, it'll work fine. my suggestion is the do the engine swap first, then worry about changing carbs. too many changes all at once can compound troubles and make it even harder to diagnose any issues. keep in mind that the bolt patterns between carbs are different and an adapter plate may be necessary.
  14. in theory you could use a small 4barrel, but a 3.4 engine isn't huge. it's just a tad bigger than the 2.8. a quality 2 barrel will work great with it. a carb that's too big is just as bad as a carb that's too small.
  15. how can it eat your trans if you're retaining the carb? the hp numbers will be close to stock.
  16. be prepared that the bolts like to seize up in the bushings if you live in a rust-prone area. if they don't come out easy, I suggest just cutting them off and buying new rather than struggling too much with 'em.
  17. yeah, whether it's new or used, the 2.8 is a junk motor. the 3.4 is an updated and upgraded version. better in every way.
  18. leaf spring bolts are identical to lower control arm bolts so you can grab some from a junkyard if they have cherokees. :D
  19. I imagine the cost will reflect the trip. LA to UT has a few mountains in the way. the Camaro's trip is about 750 miles and costing us all-in less than 700 (which is about what it would cost me in diesel and trailer rental to fetch the car myself). with some negotiating and patience II bet I could have gotten it shipped for around 600 all-in, but beating winter was more important to us than saving a few bucks.
  20. are you on a computer or a phone?
  21. make sure your computer is accepting the site's cookies and that you're not running a script blocker.
  22. not in southeast michigan at the moment. :D the western and northern areas have some.
  23. bugs I can deal with. :D I was worried about the road salt. But the weather is perfectly clear the whole way down. she should arrive in GA tomorrow.
  24. howl? whine? my boggers threaten to shake the truck apart above 20 mph. and I'm not kidding. It's worse than the worst washboard road I've ever been on. but I got them used and they are pretty beat up. maybe new ones aren't so bad.
  25. she's on her way. :D
