I do understand your argument, but modern baja trucks are doing 100+. I'm not sure that's really considered "trail riding". :D plus they are usually 2wd so there's no complicated drive mechanisms to break up front. but that aside, the big problem with IFS is that factory setups are usually engineered for the street and are pretty weak once the trail gets rougher. and adding lift and upgrading the innards can be quite costly because of the complicated designs and how integrated into the frame/engine/trans they sometimes are. :(
