  1. plus fusible links (short wires designed to burn out to protect stuff downstream). there are a few over by the starter relay.
  2. sleep is overrated anyway :D
  3. neat!
  4. definitely needs more stickers. I can still see glass! nice score! especially that bedliner. not a lot of those around.
  5. not that anyone has found yet. between the exactness needed and the insanely huge variety of driveshafts out there, it's the ol' needle in a haystack (made even worse by junkyards that frequently bend the rear shaft when they pick up the truck with a forklift).
  6. there's a thread in the DIY forum with the various factory driveshaft lengths. I got my 2wd shaft shortened.
  7. No, I haven't. What's better about it? Never even heard about it it plugs right in and puts the power through relays instead of through your switch.
  8. well, I gotta push it back a bit. looks like I can do this either April 16th or April 23. how's that work for everyone?
  9. it's a uniframe construction, so you won't be able to buy just a frame. you need a whole truck. or just repair the one you have if you are skilled with a welder.
  10. I would go with 4.5 coils because I can always add in a small spacer if needed. do not use XJ shackles. shackle length is important for proper spring movement.
  11. do you have a picture?
  12. quick question, have you done the harness upgrade yet?
  13. love it! 'tis old school, just like our trucks. :D
  14. don't make me bring out the PT Cruiser :D although.... I might bring the trailer along. it's half an MJ so that kinda counts. no date just yet because I don't yet know when I'm driving to birmingham. should know soon though. right now I just want to pin down a destination.
  15. final welding is a major milestone!
  16. I like having floors though... :(
  17. poor excuse. I'll be arriving in a liberty. maybe even the minivan. :D
  18. I have a scan of a comanche emblem. what I need to get vinyl cut is a simple, accurate outline of the letters and an outline of the outer bubble area around them. eventually it will need to be converted to a file type that is infinitely enlargeable (adobe, vector, etc) but first things first. anyone want to lend a hand? there's a free decal and coozie in it for ya :D
  19. It looks like I will be driving to Birmingham in about a month and since I know we have several members nearby, I figure we should meet up. somewhere. the thing is, I need info on what is near there that is a worthwhile place to meet up. doesn't have to be in Birmingham proper. It needs to be something fairly simple and cheap, but better than a walmart parking lot. for example, I hear there is a racing museum Birmingham (barbermuseum.org) or Talladega has the hall of fame. and before you ask, I don't think we can do a trail ride as not everyone going will have a 4x4.
  20. what about not cutting the bed and then wrapping it with a prerunner style bumper and corner guards?
  21. now that is pretty damn cool
  22. whichever looks coolest up on the wall of the garage :D or maybe as the back of a bench. that would be sweet too. maybe I should put one on the truck. I dunno, I might just drive away with them all. :rotf: guys from the rust-belt states can be unpredictable when finding themselves amongst clean sheetmetal.
  23. I genuinely hate it when that happens. If I didn't identify the issue and fix it properly, then I know in the back of my head that it can go wrong again at any moment. it's just waiting for an opportunity... some day when I'm in a hurry... :fs1:
  24. don't sweat it, Jim. just be sure to save me a tailgate for when I come to visit. :D
  25. I think a tow dolly with brakes is probably your best bet. keep in mind you are looking at stressing out every aspect of your 26 year old truck, including engine cooling, bumper, brakes and transmission. they had better be up to snuff. another choice is to get a friend to drive the TJ behind you and buy them a plane ticket back. might even be cheaper that way. lord knows it's safer.
