  1. time for a disk brake upgrade?
  2. that pic is just a generic internet pic. my truck got a 9". But if you go to autozone's website and plug in a '99 Explorer you should be able to search for that part. oh, and never plug a vent. they are important.
  3. I think it's 98 or 99 4x4 without the snowplow option. There are other boxes you could use too.
  4. love it! (but you knew that already ) any plans? I mean, no Jeep is ever truly "finished".
  5. do you have power at the resistor pack?
  6. haha! and better wiring technicians. and more skilled with the various tools needed to removed a snapped bolt. and...
  7. ahhh, the delirious joys of owning a now decades old vehicle designed during the desperate, dying days of a small automotive manufacturer. plus throw some road salt into that wound for extra fun.
  8. the track for the glass? or the track for the mechanism inside the door?
  9. I've been known to let my engineering side get ahead of my common sense side now and again and I can totally get behind a complicated swap, but my gut just feels like a 4.0 block/heads/(intake/exhaust?) would be the way to go. stockish with modern innards. I'd probably even go and paint the valve cover and intake a dark color so they blend in rather than be all blingy. #oldirondeservestolookold? I guess I can't really comment on the transmission though, as I haven't driven a non-od trans yet.
  10. holy cow! I imagine that's one tool that autozone doesn't have on their loan-a-tool program.
  11. I think the real question is still: how much of the ol' girl's charm do you want to retain? are you wanting a mostly stock old Jeep to tool around in? or a restomod that looks old, but comes with the conveniences of a modern drivetrain to be a more comfortable daily driver?
  12. edit: found a video on it:
  13. well, I already knew I was pushing the limits of my knowledge and have now proved that by somehow disabling my wifi in the bios. I managed to undo the damage but clearly a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing. going to need a bit more step-by-step on using the bios to find the info you desire.
  14. my feisty, rebellious spirit? honestly, this particular Tosh harddrive is the only hiccup and if it never ever works, I'll be fine (used 500gb drives are only ~$20). oh, that and the capslock button on this keyboard. for some reason I now hit it a lot. I'll give it another week and if my brain hasn't acclimated to it, I'm just going to rip it off the board.
  15. see, it's installed, but not visible as storage. or as anything.
  16. I cannot access it in any way, not using my computer, nor my father's (also running 7). assuming I can someday, I intend to format it. I have not yet tried installing it as the only hard drive. I'm just not sure what all that would do.
  17. the toshiba should not have an os on it. (my seagate from the old laptop did and was causing some early confusion, but that is no longer in the picture).
  18. working on that now. on a side note, while jumping through HP's hoops, I found a menu that actual acknowledges the drive's 500 gig size!
  19. you should start a thread about the car https://comancheclub.com/forum/40-member-projects-other-cool-stuff/
  20. links are too short? most quick disconnects are longer than stock to accommodate lifts.
  21. assuming I did it right, windows says my sata driver is up to date. if it matters, I was using my old laptop's hdd in the caddy and it worked (a bit too good).
  22. it does the same thing if I use my hdd adapter cord and plug it into a usb drive. I think the next step is going to be contacting Toshiba.
