eek! you can't possibly be the first to experience that. what does teh company say? what about squishing the plastic tanks a bit before capping them? would that make any difference?

you may have maxed out the ideas until we see the project start to come together. I'm sure you'll get all sorts of thoughts and solutions as dilemmas arise. although I've been thinking about it, and I think you should either simply remove the rear window or cut the entire back wall away. I just can't see any benefit to a half-way approach.

those 97+ mirrors on the other hand, they are so big as to be actually useful.

there's a huge reason I jumped on my new 88. the unmolested originality of it all. First MJ I've had that wasn't hacked in some way by previous owners. Even my original baby, acquired when it was just 10 years old, already had a hacked up wire harness and cooling system.

an 87-90 full cluster will go right in. swap out the temp and oil pressure switches for sending units and go. should be a link to a writeup in the link in my signature. also should be a link to modding the odometer on the new cluster if you want the mileage to match.

It was originally built and titled in colorado (by a previous owner) and I can only say that it falls in the "weight/fee category" of 500#. I've got no idea if that means it weighs as much or is "rated" to carry that much.

upgrade time! slightly better shocks, slightly better (and bigger!) tires, an actual dedicated spare tire, slightly better wheels, and a slightly less better rear bumper (this one is a bit messed up and has bedliner all over it so I removed my perfect one for use on the new 88's restoration).

are those actually different than the left hand drive models? from an manufacturing standpoint I would have thought they'd have simply made provisions to simply swap them side to side. weird.

so I noticed that the Renegade grille allowed for more air to hit the radiator. And since I have an overheating issue on steep grades when the temps are high, I figured I'd get this installed before my trip through the appalachian mountains in the middle of summer pulling a trailer. I still have to repair the grille, paint, and install some sort of driving/fog lights, but it'll do ok for this particular trip.

Do people actually travel between the seat and the camper? what's the purpose of cutting away at the cab? honestly I think the comanche would make a good candidate because of how stiff the chassis is as a whole.

I will be doing that for the MJ. I'm playing around with the Dak just to see what can be done if anything. In the end it'll be up for sale and the next owner can figure out what to do long-term.

wait, why are you cutting an access hole? do you really think you'll be able to squish through to get into the drivers seat?

so I'm working on my 2000 Dakota R/T and it has the same issue as MJs with the dying clearcoat. since my hood is screwed up in more ways than one, I figured this was a great time to experiment with the paint. So far I've taken a flat razor blade to the, um, "more textured" areas that buffer between good clearcoat and no clearcoat (most of the hood is this middle stuff), and then wet-sanded with 1500 grit and things are way smoother than they were before. not perfect mind you, but better. then I tried a liquid rubbing compound and a powered buffer and the clearcoated areas look pretty good, but the rest of it doesn't really look any better. Is there a step I'm missing? a step I should be doing for a longer period of time? is all of this just a fool's folly? as I said, this hood will never look new, I'm just hoping for an improvement.

it's a powerful image for sure. the one big advantage of my own illness is that I've been blessed with the time to be a caregiver for all of my grandparents as they needed it. It's a lot of work and takes a lot of dedication and love. props to all that do it.
