there's a whole in my roof, dear liza, dear liza... got the hole cut and the roof flashing installed today. tomorrow we start assembling the stack and building its supports. if all goes well, I might even haul the stove outside for it's first fire! (I'm told it might stink a lot on the first blaze so we're doing that outside)

that are perfectly safe if it passes the 3 rules: -quality product (used to mean top-o'-the-line only, but in the past decade the offbrands have really stepped up their game) -hub-centric (meaning the spacer fits tight against the little bumpout from the hub and bears the weight) -torqued to spec using blue locktight on the original studs holding the spacer (not on the new studs that grip your wheels) no one else's opinion matters when it comes to wheels. it's all about what you want. also, the nuts cover the vast majority of the stud so I feel that part is fine. just don't go jumping your truck.

every state is a bit different. Utah's DMV website should have everything you need to know.

that sounds like a great idea. I've been trying to find a way to do something similar with my MJ trailer but the dang over-the-rail bedliner is in the way and I haven't come up with a good alternative yet. the old bed lights are super cool on a restored truck, but they honestly kinda suck when it comes to being useful.

well, you've got options: -small lift to pick the flare up out of the arc of tire travel -smaller tires -stock rims (should change the tire travel arc just enough to clear) -trim the flare a bit -ignore the noise -never turn around again

just because it makes the most sense, doesn't make it automatically true. maybe someday we'll get some more info.

I've seen a couple 87s now with the old script. I can't imagine them using up a few more emblems just because they had an extra box (when they needed to have NOS sitting around anyways), but I could see them stuck using the old stuff if there was a supply problem with the new. I do believe this dilemma is lost to time though.

the link in my sig will take you to an example relay harness (the ebay ads don't last so you'll want to run a search for it on ebay or amazon) but it won't fix a problem, only reduce the power going through the headlight switch. in order to use LEDs in the turn lights you need the special flasher pot that runs LEDs. (or the expensive LEDs with built in resistors to fake being a regular bulb but those don't reduce any strain on the wiring.)

they have downsides too. potentially unloading while on a hill climb comes to mind. though it might seem that way in the magazines, flex is not the be-all-end-all in the offroad world.

sorry, that should say august of 86. I fixed it. the earliest 87 model year truck in our registry was built August 10th 1986 and the last model year 86 in our registry was built July 14th 1986.

spent some time searching the registry and looking for vins with images and it looks like it happened around the end of August 1986.

does your truck have the all-caps COMANCHE emblem or the lower case Comanche?

I wouldn't move the cargo light to your 87, I'd get a more modern version from another brand truck for the 87. something that puts out better light.
