nope, an 88.

pulling the turn signal lever towards you push/pulls that rod which then activates the switch. on my 88 I needed to adjust the switch location because the rod had fallen off the switch.

turn signal stalk. on the column. not the headlight light switch. this is the metal rod

when you pull towards you on the turn signal switch, it pushes on a metal rod that runs down the column a few inches to the actual hi-beam/lo-beam switch. does the metal rod move?

that 1mpg was in your head (or more specifically you were driving slightly different). the laws of thermodynamics won't let you get free energy. not ever. you have to burn gas to produce the electricity that separates out the hydrogen and oxygen. and all along that path is loss due to friction and lost heat. also the technique produces an teeny tiny amount of actual hydogen. I'm old enough to remember all those fun snake oils

does the carb have an IAC? it's been a few years since I owned a 2.8, but I remember only an idle set screw of some kind.
