that seems like a poor candidate for a gut-everything-and-start-over type of project. -

there are threaded bolts inside the door on the support bracket. seems like it'd be easy to just thread in some bolts. but I agree with Jesse. I wish my trucks had the tow mirrors. but also, all of the factory mirrors kinda suck. I wouldn't get too dedicated to permanently removing yours until you try out the alternatives.
