  1. so put a little winch in there. it's insane how often they are useful. doesn't need to be big or expensive. I've got a 5k "ATV" winch in my Liberty. works great as a "farm winch" around the property.
  2. be persistent and be proactive and you just might might the good stuff.
  3. the black dash trim is common enough that you can just buy an intact one if you choose. I won't lie, a part of me wants to save those door panels.
  4. just cut them slowly and cool the assembly off as you go. I used a grinder with a cutoff blade and had no issues with the rubber getting hot. it was easy.
  5. I know you know what you're doing. just razzin' ya. is that the factory air cleaner? was it typically that tiny back in the day? I'm pretty sure I've seen more square inches on a lawn tractor!
  6. congrats! old iron gets all teh looks next we'll teach how to take a good picture of a great subject... namely with the sun at your back
  7. getting into 1st and reverse could be an issue with the clutch not fully disengaging.
  8. I should have one that's on that mangled bed. tomorrow I'll see if I can free it from its... mangledness.
  9. he means the knee panel.

it's always possible it's a reused code that applies to some other chrysler car, but it's certainly worth a looksie.
  12. dammit.
  13. moved it over to Tech for ya so more eyes will see it.
  14. yup, they have eh pentastar ones. much more common and still work just fine.
  15. it's a real shame, but these days just because a part is new doesn't mean you can assume it's perfect. gotta test it.
  16. they were 10 bucks plus shipping. I'm kicking myself for not getting the last pair, but I'm not sure how to display a pair of tweeter on the nos wall.
  17. I do believe there's a writeup on finding an active short in the link in my signature. also a pdf of the electrical manual.
  18. I found another toddler to alter the art. how about this one. am I closer?
  19. there are cheaper ones if you don't mind the pentastar on them I thought for sure the AMCs were gone after the last 2 sold from that seller, but it appears they have more in stock than they let on.
  20. what would happen if an 87 computer was installed in an 88-90? I'm assuming that the computer wouldn't know anything about the resistor, but where would it send power? where could someone test for power to check that the bypass line is functional? is the wiring anything like this overly simplified drawing apparently done by some random kindergartner?
  21. I've sent them a note asking if the keys are 88-89 like the title or 79-86 like the compatibility chart shows. I'm assuming they are 86-90 compatible ones. https://www.ebay.com/itm/284330245541?fits=Make%3AJeep&epid=1223520792&hash=item4233673da5:g:AQ8AAOSwMXdfvUVf
  22. looking for someone with better wire diagram reading skills than me to find something I can share with others that shows where to look should the Jeep start with the resistor in play, but not at all if the resistor is unplugged. from my experience, unplugging the resistor should produce a fire-then-die condition, not a no-fire condition.
