  1. Triple check that bad boy and then buy it if it's fo real. :D
  2. You said it, not me. :D

    hey Pete!

Give me a call before you come over, just in case I went in the house at the moment you drive by. Do you have my number?
  4. Sure. :D If you see me outside just stop by. Otherwise let me know when you might drop in.
  5. Hahahahahaha... :rotfl2: :rotf: :clapping: :laughin: Oh wait, are you're serious? Cough-cough. Sorry 'bout that. No, there's no painting involved on this one. It's hard to tell from the bad photo up there, but the body is rotting away in too many places to justify spending any money on paint. It was a old truck in need of some TLC and I decided to rescue it and make it into my DD (hopefully a reliable DD) or at the very least then I'll have a pickup with a usable bed (I own 4 trucks and the other 3 can't be used as actual pickups anymore). Also it's a test platform for some minor projects (like the 95 XJ booster or Hurculiner in the interior) before I put them into my 88.
  6. Are you sure that law doesn't apply just to R-12? There are similar measures across the states that keep R-12 out of the public's hands.
  7. Step 1: Go get yourself some insulation. Even a functional A/C system can only do so much. Step 2: The conversion comes as a kit. Go buy it. :D
  8. They're low-pinion though, so it's still not quite a perfect axle. Stay away from the CAD ones and make sure it's a drivers-side diff. Just because it came from a big FSJ, doesn't mean it's the one you want to sink your money into.

    hey Pete!

Driving it? Not quite. There's still the issues with the hole in the floor, no shocks, no brake lights, bad fuse box, etc. Oh, and it's not plated yet either. Someday. But right now I need the garage space for other things so it gets to work on it's sun tan for a while. Yup, I've seen that red one too. I left a magnet with him. Dunno if he actually stopped by here though.
  10. It's ALIVE!!!!! :clapping: sorta. I just needed to move it out of the garage to make some room for the 8.8s. But she moved under her own power.
  11. That can be the kicker. The shop that first touched my 88 wanted like $500 for a new condenser ($1100 for the whole job). I bought mine through JCW.com for a fraction of that.
  12. Too dark now. I'll snap a couple tomorrow. If you're lucky maybe I'll even be able to find the energy to haul it out and prop it up in place under the MJ. :D Gotta do that eventually, right?

    hey Pete!

    :D
  14. I think I remember it being cheaper to convert and fill with 134 than to fill an empty system with R-12. And with the chances of reoccurring leaks in our old trucks, it can be even cheaper still over the years.
  15. If I remember right, I have a fill-hose and it only screws on to one port.
  16. Have you converted the system yet? There are several seals, o-rings and such that need to be changed or they won't work with the 134. I think the book is stating that you can't simply put R-134 into an R-12 system and expect it to work.

    hey Pete!

I've made another "investment" in 8.8s. :D You didn't notice the hasn't-seen-the-light-of-day-in-months MJ in the driveway?
  18. As long as the "dual" part is behind the muffler you should be fine. Eventually my new MJ will have "dual" exhaust. I bought a used system from an MJ being parted out. They exit right behind the tire and point sideways. It's propped up behind the garage and I can snap a pic if you'd like.
  19. You need really really good bits and then your tire won't be centered in the wheelwell. Although, Dirty doesn't exactly have a rear wheelwell, so... :D
  20. I had my 88 converted at the same time I replaced a bad condenser and it worked just fine (until I sprung another leak a couple years later).
  21. Nope, I went with a high-pinion fullsize Bronco (78-79) axle. In my opinion the early Bronco axles aren't worth it. They have small joints and such and then you have to screw around with the 9" of that era with its small bearings and shafts. If you want to stick with a close-to-stock width, I would pursue a Jeep Grand Wagoneer front axle and a rear Dana 44 axle from a 96 era Pathfinder or Rodeo which is the same width as the Grand Waggy, but has disk brakes and 4.30 gears. Then just regear the front to 4.27 to match.
  22. Well, there were a whole bunch of changes that were needed simply to accommodate the longer and more powerful engine including transmission and t-case upgrades, wiring upgrades to accommodate the new engine and new transmission, radiator supports for the bigger radiator, moving the hood latches to the outside so they don't interfere with said radiator, etc.
  23. Yup. At least it appears that way. Usually there was a "PIONEER" decal right below the back of your stripes. Maybe someone removed them.
  24. Please refer to rule #2. :D http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1239
