  1. Throttle body cleaner that won't hurt O2 sensor. Thanks !
  2. I gotta check that throttle plate and how do you clean the crud out, with some carb cleaner? :dunno:
  3. Yea, I was thinking that it could be the throttle cable digging into the outer shroud. Any idea what the dealer rapes, errr... charges someone for the new one? My inspection is up this month so I think I'll try the ghetto spring trick for now !
  4. Anyone ever had a problem with the pedal sticking during acceleration? I've lubed everything from the throttlebody to the pedal ansd it still sticks every now and then. All I have to do to un-stick it is to just pat the pedal with my foot and it releases. W T F ?
  5. Did you get yours recently?
  6. 1986 2.5L Anyone know where I can get my hands on a new one?
  7. You're right 87manche, I've got three more test to do tomorrow.I need to jump the negative wire(the small orange/black one) from the ECU to the relay to determine if it is a bad wire/connection somewhere, and if not,I need to check and clean the connection into/out of the ECU. All I did to the odd little metal box that you're talking about was to tap it with my screwdriver a few times to see if anything happened. I will check that a little more thouroughly too. I'll write back Thursday with my findings. Thanks
  8. OK I've had this problem that I thought was the fuel pump. Nope. I ran a jumper wire to the fuel pump and I could hear it run in the tank. Then ,with a lot of crankin and scratchin my head,I noticed that some times the fuel pump relay was not clicking when I turned the ignition switch.Thats when the fuel pump would not run.Duh  Then ,sometimes when I turned the key switch on,the relay would click and the pump would pump and the engine would start. :dunno: Now, I can't even get the relay to click at all,so of course, no crank  I think I have a bad ECU because several weeks ago while going down the road,I pushed my clutch in to shift and the engine revved way up. I,at that time, thought my floor mat had gotten wedged under my gas pedal. This happened twice. Then throw in the fact that my idle control stopped working when my A/C was on,and I think I have a control problem :???:  :ack: So,where can I get an ECU for an '86 2.5L TBI and whats it gonna set me back?
  9. well that should explain that. What about the fuel pump relay? I looked under the dash,by the fuses, but found no relay for the fuel pump. Under the hood I saw the three blue relays on the passenger side. I took them out one at a time and still had about 7 volts to the pump with each one removed. Where could it be and what does it look like? :???:
  10. '86 2.5 liter TBI...... Looked under the hood for the ballast resistor and there's not one.I read that someone couldn't find theirs either. Is this common? I bought this truck new and unless someone took this off with out telling me,which I doubt because I do almost all the repairs myself and I know anyone else who's done the work, then there is not or never was a ballast resister on this truck. And also, can anyone tell me where the fuel pump relay is,or what it looks like?
  11. OK ,I cannot find a ballast resistor any where, and where is the fuel pump relay and what does it look like?
  12. Does anyone know what the voltage to the fuel pump should be? I'm getting 6 volts. Is this enough? [/img]
