  1. Not the differential bearings (don't need anything from there), I mean the unit-bearings on the ends. Turns out I can't see them today so I have a bit more time to find out.
  2. anyone know if a wheel-bearing from a TJ low-pinion Dana 30 will work on a 98 XJ hi-pinion Dana 30 (in my 90 MJ)? Autozone has them as different part numbers, but that by itself tends not to mean a whole lot in reality. Can I make it work if I have whole the TJ axle (-brakes)?
  3. What? No story? I wanna know how you did it! And where are the pictures?! :brows:
  4. That's the kicker right there. Those coils are designed to hold up a lot more weight than an MJ.
  5. Maybe it's a wrong bulb in the socket? :dunno: They should have 2 filaments.
  6. Not that I know of either. :dunno: Theoretically it could be in the records somewhere, but if so then that's in the files and I haven't a clue how to access that sort of thing. :hateputers:
  7. I'm not supposed to be here. I should be halfway through Ohio by now. :(
  8. I got it (that's right, I'm still here waiting for dad to get home from work :( ). I just can't do anything until I get the new decals and magnets in. But the PM is sent.
  9. I want to use the Renix stuff. :brows: It's simple, reliable, I already know it, and I have a ton of spares. Problem is the knock sensor (or lack-there-of) if I go with the later block. :(
  10. My wheelers are on a strict no-carb diet. :D Beyond that, a stroker makes excellent power (250-300 ponies) while retaining just about everything that's currently on my 88. No expensive adapters to my AX-15, no expensive motor mounts, no custom exhaust, no custom anything. It bolts right in. It'll even retain the A/C (if I ever decide to track down that leak). I already have a donor 4.0 and a 258 but I need simplicity in this project or it'll never be finished and that's why I'm contemplating buying rather than building.
  11. Well, it's days later and the guy still hasn't emailed me anything. :headpop: But I found another stroker for sale. About the same asking price, but this one is based on a H.O. engine. The first one comes with just about everything in the engine bay and the second is just a block and head. Don't know what to do, but at least I have choices. :D I've got until June 29th to do something. That's when my parents leave on their trip and that's when I plan to move the 88 into the garage to swap axles and a block (whether a stroker or the stock 4.0 in the garage).
  12. I am genuinely shocked that ringpinion wouldn't know!! Maybe you need to call back and speak with someone else. :dunno:
  13. The fuel injected 2.5L is a superior engine to the 2.8L. I would just hunt down a good 2.5L block. If I remember right pretty much any year 2.5L block will work. The newer, the better.
  14. mine could. If Jeep hadn't given it traction control that I can't turn off. :(
  15. I want to say yes, but the guys at ring-pinion.com would know for sure.
  16. Make sure you take the alternator in to have it checked out. It still could be a poor connection at the alternators or something.
  17. I've preached this too. First thing I checked when I popped the hood at the dump. The terminals are clean and the connection looks good. I did notice however the cables are or atleast appear to be facotry originals, so they are probably on their last leg. Just trying to cover all the bases, but did you pull them and scrub them good? Just because it looks clean doesn't actually mean squat (and the reverse is true too, buildup of nastiness on the outside doesn't necessarily mean that the connection is affected inside). A good cleaning with a terminal brush can work wonders. :D And if you have any doubt with the cables, replace them!
  18. See rule #2. :D http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1239
  19. I would start by cleaning the terminals and checking the condition of the battery cables. Most of my electrical issues that looked like a battery or alternator problem was simply corrosion or poor contact.
  20. If you don't have a torch yet, I suggest a small MAP gas torch. :D Burns hotter than propane. And make sure you get one of these little babies (although I've never seen a hand-held MAP gas torch with out one): self-igniting torch:
  21. sue :D Maybe check with the better business bureau?
  22. I finally remembered to go measure my 4.0L/AX-15/4wd/dana35 and I got 43.5"
  23. I'm confused. Why would you need the computer and shifter assembly if you're going with Brett's shifter? I thought his dealie worked without them?

    hey Pete!

Yup. We had a bit of interference issue with my over-the-rail bedliner in a couple spots, but it should work nicely on a bare MJ (or maybe an under-the-rail liner). He's got the pics, so you'll have to wait 'til he posts up.
