  1. Apparently it is because they say it is. No other reason. The irony is that the bot scouts never intended it to be a political statement for the war, but the people complaining about it are certainly making a political statement against the war. Looks like the troop got verbal permission to do it too.

His last name is LaPorte. And I've got the address I sent the stickers to. I'll PM it to Jeepco.
  3. You guys/gals can talk about almost anything you want as long as you follow rule number 1. http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1239
  4. If I can remember how to do them. What did you have in mind?
  5. The stickies are only temporary. Just for everyone to read through it with suggestions, or ideas to expand the knowledge base in the project. Then the original author can have a chance to modify the steps or photos or whatever. When everything is said and done, I'll copy/paste it to the DIY forum for reference and remove the sticky.
  6. Nope. The manufacturer was out of town last week and I don't know what their excuse is for this week. I stopped by today but only the hired help was there, not the owner. I'll be trying again tomorrow.
  7. I live near Detroit. I was being serious. :brows: I saw a late 80s Taurus the other day that had the entire trunk crushed in and the guy had taped some taillights onto the wreckage. No joke.
  8. Car looks fine to me. :dunno: Although in my area I see cars like that on the road all the time. Might want to get the alignment checked though. :D
  9. I had 30x9.5 BFGs on my 88 back in the day with no rubbing that I remember. I had the aluminum rims though. With steel you'd be guaranteed a bit of rubbing since they pull the tire in a slight amount.
  10. I'd pass too. If I remember right, the really trick thing to do is to find a Ford fullsize front 44 (either pre-78 F-150 or 78-79 if you're going to re-tube it, or any year solid axle F-250 but then you need to think about brakes and bolt patterns) and narrow the long side to fit a Grand Waggy axle shaft. Makes it about the right width for an MJ/XJ. Then you just have to figure out a match for the rear. Maybe a Scout rear 44? In my opinion, it's better to start out with the best you can afford rather than the cheapest you can find.
  11. Mine are 2wd (both original and AAL) Shouldn't make much difference but there's only one way to know for sure. :brows: If it's still not enough, you could add in the XJ leaf too, but I'd start with the MJ one to help support the current main
  12. I'd do it too. Oh wait, I did.
  13. You can always get a longer d-shaft and have it cut down by a shop. Then you can get the perfect length.
  14. I added a second main MJ leaf to my packs and have been very happy with it. As far as I can tell the flex is unencumbered and the packs seem to hold up my heavy a$$ truck just fine.
  15. If you've got an automatic, the driveshaft from a 4.0/stick MJ (of the same bed length) will be 1" longer.
  16. To the best of my knowledge our forum software doesn't support it in that way (it was free after all). The best you get at this time is the aforementioned clickable. :(
  17. I wouldn't worry about that just yet unless you're leaving huge clouds of smoke behind you as you drive. It there's an exhaust leak at the connection between the manifold and exhaust pipe, I would try to fix it and see what happens.
  18. I won't buy it 'til they find that missing gear in the trans. :brows:
  19. Yup, that was another possibility. 86 was a crazy year.
  20. That reminds me, if the 4 speed manual was available in 92, then it might have 3.55 gears. Eventually the 4 speed went away and eventually the 2.5 was given 4.10 gears regardless of transmission, but I don't know what years the cutoffs were. For 86 you could have 3.31 (not likely), 3.55 with the 4 speed manual,or 4.10s with the 5 speed manual but the only way to really know is to look since the "rules" were either fairly liberal in the early years or we just haven't broken the code yet. Best bet is to look at the tag on the diff cover.
  21. I concur with taking off the shift tower. But I was thinking it was 10 mm. :dunno:
  22. Dirty just sent me a writeup so we'll use his as the guinea pig to see if my process plan will work. Lead', you may as well list the stuff you have here. The project titles at least, not the whole shi-bang. After I work out the best way to do this, you'll likely be posting them one at a time in the tech section before you need to send me anything. I want to give the group a chance to comment on them or ask questions before I get too involved with any potential editing.
  23. Not every sentence comes across quite right when typed. It's a short-coming of the internet and I suppose a big reason why we have all those little guys to click on.
