  1. It's very important to find the source of the oil before throwing tools at it. For what it's worth, I nicked my RMS and it leaked like a sieve right away. :(
  2. Personally I don't think any of it is all that new, I just think we're exposed to more and more of it due to all the news coverage. Think back in history to any era and try to imagine what a 24 hour news channel would be covering.
  3. That's a lot too far for me to "swing by" but it sounds like you're going to need to get your butt up there in person. Good luck!
  4. Early AX-5s seem to have been external. Got one on my 86 MJ.
  5. The Detroit area is pretty big, but I live just south of the Motor City. Where abouts are you?
  6. Unless one of you has a time machine (and if you do, feel free to PM me :D ), no one was ever going to get them by Christmas. They take 2-3 weeks to make.  If anyone want their mags/cards/stickers sooner, just lemme know and I'll get them in the mail before I leave Saturday. (SuperWade2 yours will be on their way)
  7. I've gotten several last minute hat orders and I leave on Saturday for a week at my sisters place for the holidays. Does anyone have any objections with me placing the hat order on Jan 2nd? I know it's not exactly fair to the guys that forked over money weeks ago, but I still want to give everyone an opportunity to get one. Your thoughts?
  8. Intermittent 4wd is usually a faulty CAD (Central Axle Disconnect) in the front axle. Maybe the vacuum lines are leaking, or the shifter fork is sticking etc. A quick search for "CAD fix" should bring up some of the common ways to bypass the stupid CAD (make sure you click on the button that searches for all words).
  9. I can't help but notice that the cab doesn't match the bed and doors. :hmm:
  10. All anyone ever has to do to get some magnets/cards is send me an address.
  11. Been there, done that. My dog Perri had a horrible infection that he wasn't supposed to live through. We paid for the treatment anyway (over thanksgiving weekend no less). One gi-normous bill later later he made a full recovery. That was maybe 6 years ago and he's ~13 now. Never ever regretted it. :D We certainly aren't rich, but the decision to fight the infection came easy. Everyone's circumstances are different though and it's something you two have to decide for yourself. But I can offer this bit of advice: get a second opinion, or even a third. I don't ever want someone to say they "think" the problem is such-and-such. They better be telling me precisely why they think that and then I'm going to another expert and see what he thinks. In the automotive world this is usually a defense against ripoff artists, but in the medical world it is a defense against the utterly innumerable possibilities that certain generic symptoms could be resulting from. Good luck! :( --Pete
  12. The Metric Ton has 5 total leafs (including the overload) and normal MJs have 4 total. The Dana 44 was available with the "tow prep" package
  13. :D I didn't say it was necessarily going in my wheeler (aka the '88 ). :D But if it went in my 86, I'd suddenly have a reason to drive the thing more than once a year. :brows:
  14. Nooooobody's touching my R/T. :D
  15. I never said it'd be easy. :D Just dreaming at the moment. Mike has had that Bronco for years and, while the vehicle as a whole has been a huge pile o' crap, that engine is an incredible stump puller. Gobs and gobs of power. There are plenty of the typical problems to overcome, including the motor mounts, hood, exhaust, adaptation to the trans, etc. But I've got months to think about it. Giving up the EFI would be tough, but maybe I could adapt a junkyard EFI harness to the engine? Maybe I could grab a 2wd transmission and just throw the carbed 351 into my '86 MJ. That would be a riot. :D
  16. So I've found myself in possession of my buddy's 86 Bronco (351W,c6,4barrel carb) and have until Weds to get rid of it or pay the re-up in registration. If someone buys it, fine, whatever (I'm only asking 600, but there are only so many days left). If not, then I'll likely have it for the rest of the winter (parked due to the dead starter and the wasted body) and come spring time, it'll be reeeal hard not to envision that all that torque sitting in my trucks. :D Anyone ever do the research on fitting one of these in an MJ? Is it wider than the 302?
  17. Personally I would skip the revolvers, but more importantly, I would definitely upgrade those front U-joints to handle the aggressive tires you're contemplating (and I'd go with the 34s).
  18. Yup, it's a 44 alright. That tag that is stuck between the two bolts on the left side of the cover should tell you what ratio it is.
  19. the 242 was also available in comanches, it's just rarely seen Gonna need some evidence of that...
  20. It's not uncommon for the valve cover gasket to be leaking down the back of the engine and look like a leaky rear main seal. You might want to start with that one since it's way easier. :D Also, it took me 5 tries to get the rear main seal to stop leaking. Plenty of stuff can go wrong. :(
  21.
  22. If it's just a factory or aftermarket "light" bar it won't do much to save your neck, so I say just bolt it down to the bed.
  23. That particular Rob's full name is Rob Bryce. Some googling might find some old photos if they are still on the web. It's been a while.
  24. Fixed your years for you. :D
  25. It's in Circleville, just south of Columbus, OH. I can't remember if any of that was usable.
