Just so everyone knows, it's not a good MJ place. They just happen to have this one there (and another one that was toast).

Some did have headrests. The 88 MJ (the one I owned but some how didn't keep) had them and so did the 91 that was at that yard (rough shape though). Browsing through my 86 brochure I can't find a single shot that shows a bench with headrests. Oh, and if anyone really wants those panels, PM me and I'll tell you where they are in Central Ohio. They were in decent shape.

Was at a 'yard buying up some 8.8s and asked if they had any MJs. Walked away with a great headliner (already re-upholstered) and a nice black cloth bench seat (unfortunately it doesn't have the headrests, did they even come in 86 MJs?) I would have bought the black door panels too, but they wouldn't part them from the doors and $120 was not in the budget for panels.

Nice ingenuity! :D Why o' why can't I get stainless steel tubing for brake lines? Is it too brittle to form the ends? :mad:

Be prepared for stickershock on those unit-bearing hubs. :(

The buzzer drove me nuts so I removed it... I think that might have been the first mod I ever did to my 88. :D

Inrared thermometers are awesome. :D I just picked up a craftsman one.

So, if you guys are finished about the AX-4, I'm proposing this amendment to the jeepwiki page concerning the T-4 and T-5: "Although not officially offered by Jeep, the T-4 (4-speed) and T-5 (5-speed) manual transmissions have been known to pop up in some 86 Comanches. The T-4 and T-5 is fully interchangeable with the AX-4 and AX-5"

I disconnected the interior lock button and now it's impossible to lock the door without the key. Problem solved. :D

What condition are your U-joints in the driveshaft? Do they freely rotate or do they bind and stick?

I gave up trying to get my E-fan to come on automatically and wired it up (through a new relay) to a switch in the cab.

I'm a lot less sick now that I've mastered the proper anthrax handling techniques. :brows:

I would plan on replacing all the brake lines unless some miracle has occurred. :(

When you guys are searching, don't forget to check the box that says "Search for all terms".

Secure the truck so it can't roll away on you, put the trans in neutral and jack up one of the rear tires. Make a mark on the driveshaft that you can see so you can count it's revolutions and then watch it carefully as you spin the one tire 2 complete revolutions. the number of times the d-shaft spins will tell you the ratio. Just over 4 times would be 4.10, just over 3 times would be 3.07, etc. If it turns out you have a posi in the rear axle, you'll need to jack up both rear tires and do the same thing, but this time only spin the tires around once. Anyone can feel free to correct me if my brain got that backwards at all. :D
