I never said it'd be easy. :D Just dreaming at the moment. Mike has had that Bronco for years and, while the vehicle as a whole has been a huge pile o' crap, that engine is an incredible stump puller. Gobs and gobs of power. There are plenty of the typical problems to overcome, including the motor mounts, hood, exhaust, adaptation to the trans, etc. But I've got months to think about it. Giving up the EFI would be tough, but maybe I could adapt a junkyard EFI harness to the engine? Maybe I could grab a 2wd transmission and just throw the carbed 351 into my '86 MJ. That would be a riot. :D

So I've found myself in possession of my buddy's 86 Bronco (351W,c6,4barrel carb) and have until Weds to get rid of it or pay the re-up in registration. If someone buys it, fine, whatever (I'm only asking 600, but there are only so many days left). If not, then I'll likely have it for the rest of the winter (parked due to the dead starter and the wasted body) and come spring time, it'll be reeeal hard not to envision that all that torque sitting in my trucks. :D Anyone ever do the research on fitting one of these in an MJ? Is it wider than the 302?

Personally I would skip the revolvers, but more importantly, I would definitely upgrade those front U-joints to handle the aggressive tires you're contemplating (and I'd go with the 34s).

Yup, it's a 44 alright. That tag that is stuck between the two bolts on the left side of the cover should tell you what ratio it is.

the 242 was also available in comanches, it's just rarely seen Gonna need some evidence of that... :cheers:

It's not uncommon for the valve cover gasket to be leaking down the back of the engine and look like a leaky rear main seal. You might want to start with that one since it's way easier. :D Also, it took me 5 tries to get the rear main seal to stop leaking. Plenty of stuff can go wrong. :(

If it's just a factory or aftermarket "light" bar it won't do much to save your neck, so I say just bolt it down to the bed.

Just so everyone knows, it's not a good MJ place. They just happen to have this one there (and another one that was toast).

Some did have headrests. The 88 MJ (the one I owned but some how didn't keep) had them and so did the 91 that was at that yard (rough shape though). Browsing through my 86 brochure I can't find a single shot that shows a bench with headrests. Oh, and if anyone really wants those panels, PM me and I'll tell you where they are in Central Ohio. They were in decent shape.

Was at a 'yard buying up some 8.8s and asked if they had any MJs. Walked away with a great headliner (already re-upholstered) and a nice black cloth bench seat (unfortunately it doesn't have the headrests, did they even come in 86 MJs?) I would have bought the black door panels too, but they wouldn't part them from the doors and $120 was not in the budget for panels.

Nice ingenuity! :D Why o' why can't I get stainless steel tubing for brake lines? Is it too brittle to form the ends? :mad:

The buzzer drove me nuts so I removed it... I think that might have been the first mod I ever did to my 88. :D

Inrared thermometers are awesome. :D I just picked up a craftsman one.

So, if you guys are finished about the AX-4, I'm proposing this amendment to the jeepwiki page concerning the T-4 and T-5: "Although not officially offered by Jeep, the T-4 (4-speed) and T-5 (5-speed) manual transmissions have been known to pop up in some 86 Comanches. The T-4 and T-5 is fully interchangeable with the AX-4 and AX-5"

I disconnected the interior lock button and now it's impossible to lock the door without the key. Problem solved. :D
