  1. motor mounts ok? exhaust hitting the trans crossmember?
  2. that would have been my thought too, except that the truck in his sig is 2wd.
  3. x2. that's a new one by me. :hmm: Are you sure the tires aren't touching anything? does it happen whenever you turn or only at full crank?
  4. My family's Libby CRD is only 3 years old and certain parts can be hard to come by. I couldn't imagine a 20 year old diesel. :wall:
  5. I mean the emergency hydraulic line. that second line that goes to the prop valve.
  6. bleeding that emergency line is a real pain. :(
  7. what sort of specs are you looking for?
  8. that's what i thought. :D
  9. Are you asking a tech question?
  10. I swore at my 90. a lot. :fs1: I hate rust.
  11. An easy way to check is to measure the diameter of the bearing caps.
  12. after much searching, I finally found mention of a CPS mounting location (the one on Pirate), which apparently does exist on the Dak housing. :typing: still doesn't apply to the 2.1 of course. :D
  13. Hmmm... For 2.5s it's not quite as easy as just finding that bellhousing. But the 2.1 might not have as many issues. hard to say since I can only assume the 2.1 would be similar to the 2.5 inside the bellhousing. hmmm... Blazing new territory... :D
  14. yes
  15. if it's a manual trans it should be an AX-5, and the t-case for an 85 should be an np-207. AX-15 won't bolt up, but anything from any year 2.5L will. my Liberty CRD has 3.73s. I'd have no problems with 4.10s behind a diesel with even less power. Also, there's nothing really different about the front axle in an 85 (about the same as any MJ front axle), but yes, the front driveshaft was pretty darn pathetic. :D
  16. flying is, um, hard. :D
  17. finally got it loaded up. :clapping: took all of 20 seconds before I had the dodge on it's side. :rotf:
  18. My Peugeot worked just fine in my daily driver. that is until it grenaded while I was cruisin' along the freeway. blew a hole out the side which promptly drained all the oil. Still managed to limp my way home some 25 miles. :D eventually it got stuck in 3rd gear and was making horrendous noises the whole way. the last few miles were really interesting. :rotfl2: Bottom line, if your Peugeot is working, keep the oil level up and be nice to it and it just might last. :D But read up on the AX-15 swap in the mean time and be prepared. try car-part.com be sure to search for a plethora of years and models since TJ and YJ and XJ stuff have different part numbers and part numbers for each individual model changed over the years
  19. so I've got some bits of my 88 MJ in action on the digi 8mm tape. the old tape camera barely works anymore but I was able to eek out a few minutes. Having no technology in this house that would directly transfer those images to a format I can upload to the internet, I improvised and set the little Canon digital camera on a tripod in front of the TV. :D oh yeah baby! redneck meets high-tech! It's horrible quality, but it's plenty good enough to hear me mangle a shift trying to backup. :rotfl2: Someday I'll find the DVD I burned last year (borrowed a burner) with all of my wheeling footage (moab, rockport, etc). Oh, and yes I know I need a new steering pump. This is all from the '05 MJ powwow Me testing out the rocker guards. Note how slowly I take the rear tire (since I don't have any guard back there yet) The next one has a bit of backstory. Bob's MJ (on 5" and 33s) got himself high centered on the soft ledge and needed a strap the following MJs/XJ (on 31s or smaller) smartly took the bypass. I was tailgunner and finally got my turn. once over the ledge, I saw the whole line of trucks still sitting in front of me and decided to play a bit more. :D
  20. I gotta imagine that if you hit something hard enough to deform the 1/8" steel bumper, you'll probably also damage the 16 ga sheetmetal frame.
  21. A little heel and toe action Although I doubt even the some of the best race car drivers could could do it very well in reverse on an incline. :brows: Do enough wheeling in a stickshift and it becomes second nature. :D practice, practice, practice.
  22. I got an idea. Tell him you got one and you'll install it for him. then go and shift the CAD over permanently and tell him it's fixed. :D
  23. Friends don't let friends keep CADs. :D
  24. problem is that almost any impact will deform the frame. Before it came to me, my 89 suffered the most minor of impacts on the passenger side with the stock bumper. Mangled the crap outta the corner of the uniframe. :dunno: The uniframe is very fragile. If you don't want to repair it, you need to strengthen it. I just can't see a crumple-able bumper saving the uniframe for anything over 5mph. If you want to save your skin in a high speed impact, then the front needs to be crumple-able, bumper included.
  25. what have you tried so far? Far as I can tell, with oil filters you do get something for your money. Buy a decent one like Wix or Mobil 1 and you should get good internals.
