  1. Looking clean and mean Coffman. Where are you located in Oz? Looks like East coast maybe?
  2. Relocated the IAT from the intake manifold to the K&N FIPK intake tube. Cleaned up throttle body and all associated sensors. Refurbished the backup ignition distributor and replaced the drive gear and sync pickup.
  3. What were the MJ years that the C101 connector was used? Only the Renix years? My 91 has a similar firewall connector, but it was completely redesigned for the 92 models. EDIT: Never mind, Just read Cruiser's Renix tips, 87-88.
  4. The whole state is in the rust belt mate.
  5. Anyone can make a mistake on a noise diagnosis. I sure have, several times.
  6. :agree: A header won't do much on your non-aspirated engine except lighten your wallet and may cause exhaust fitment issues as well. Just replace or repair your stock exhaust manifold.

  8. Yep, they never made the later XJ mirrors in chrome. If you decide to wire them up let me know - can send a wiring diagram.
  9. Uber nice Pioneer from Ohio HERE. The owner(s) must have parked it every winter. I'm impressed!
  10. For ornamentation - yes. For functionality - doubtful. Been there.
  11. Why didn't y'all p/u a switch and wire up the power mirrors?
  12. Sometimes they are a PITA to get in all the way to "click" in, especially the 3/8" size. When they are, I use some fine sandpaper and de-burr the hard line end nice and smooth then some 4-0000 steel wool to polish it up. Reassemble, shoot a drop or two of WD-40 and it should clip right in.
  13. I don't know squat about fire extinguishers and suppose I should carry one mounted on the back wall between the seats. What are you guys using? Dry chemical? Size? Rechargeable? Best place to buy? Gracias.
  14. My take on this is that AMC located the dumb memory-less Renix computer in the cab so all the multiple sensor outputs had to pass through multiple connectors to further attenuate an already weak signal to feed it. Then they came up with Kluge fixes like bypasses like the CPU "fix". It was a win-win for AMC because the average owner had no means to diagnose the ECU w/o a the proprietary DBR2 scanner, thus had to resort to dealer diagnostic $$ for troubleshooting. Or Easter egg swap sensors with more $$ until maybe or not the problem is fixed. Makes zero sense to me. :dunno:
  15. $22 in 'Bama for a normal renewal, but a custom "vanity" plate is an additional $50 annually. I had SOX WIN for a couple of years, but canceled it last year. Next year I'm thinking about a SOX SUK if things in Boston don't change. Classic tags here require a vehicle to be 30 years old.

    Broken Axle

I just threw out some snapped D35 axles, but have some new D44 axles with screw-in studs. Would that help? Also have some new spare rear Ford Explorer disk brake rotors punched out for 5x4.5 Jeep bolt pattern that would work to make a Jeep drill jig. You could "borrow" them.
  17. Throw a known good low mileage engine in then rebuild your old one as time and finances permit. Like a budget stroker.
  18. Have you tried soliciting bids on UShip? Sometimes a hauler will ship a vehicle super cheap because he's got a trip already scheduled in your timeframe close to your p/u and drop-off points and needs to fill space or will haul it behind his truck. I've done this quite a few times with bikes. Can't hurt to get some bids.............
  19. Trying to ignore the bickering children.. I didn't notice too much difference going from 3+1 to 3+2 MT leafs. Really the only difference is the additional overload leaf. The free arch is the same on both. They did ride a little bit stiffer, but my old springs were really tired, so I attributed it to that. The rear shocks have a lot to do with ride quality also.
  20. I installed a set of these springs about four years ago from the same vendor (same spring specs w/o the front military wrap). I got nearly 3" of lift over what I was with the old springs. The actual amount of lift varies with the condition of the original condition, thus the 1-1/2" to max 3" spec. My original springs were shot. They eventually settled down about 1/2" in the following year. You will definitely be higher using these on a SOA rig than using the stock springs.

  22. That's okay, most folks are. That's about the max HP a 500cc limit thumper can put out. The built Honda and Yamaha singles come close but don't last long. Nothing to me sounds as sexy as a built Rotax 4-stroke thumper screaming at full RPM. They sound like nothing else.
