The code 53 comes up when the ECU senses an internal fault. The other codes could be be caused/effected by the ECM fault code. First thing I'd do disco the cable and eyeball the 60-pin ECU connector for obvious bent and/or recessed pins. There's probably gunk on the pins too that becomes brittle from the extreme cold overnight. Clean it up real good with some contact cleaner and a tooth brush. Reconnect and try again. If the same symptoms and codes persist, I'd try another ECU. I'm not sure a 93 ECU will play on a 91 because some of the pin assignments are not the same, but it wouldn't hurt anything to try. Even the 91 and 92 ECUs have some pin assignments............

Ship names don't bug me either as long as they never build a USS Barack Obama. Unless it looked like this:
-
Yeah, me too. I attribute it to too much social media like Farcebook and the others and the need for the airheads to make noise on it. Next we'll see people in Cali and Colorado whining about the Ferrari California and Chevy Colorado, or people from other states complaining about USN ships named after their state. :dunno:

Military Wrapped Springs With Lift, Group Buy

Looks like Fiat Chrysler has relegated the Jeep to the back of the bus to remain at status quo for now and shifted emphasis to Alfa Romeo. New Jeep models will receive nothing but simple facelifts and the JK based pickup has been postponed. I read it as being crap-canned. An example of Alfa priority is that the new Trailhawk will be built on a rear-wheel-drive platform developed by Alfa. :shake: Have been looking forward to a new Jeep JK-based pickup, ain't happening any time soon.

How's the road access in and out Ben? Paved? Looks a bit off the beaten path; just thinking about the winters. But coming from MN that's probably not a concern for you guys.

Agree. Looking at the firewall, most of the heat looks like it was concentrated in this area.

Axel and spring pack identification?
HOrnbrod replied to johnj92131's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They look like original standard 3+1 springs with hacked AAL jobs on each. Only one place for these IMO John - the scrap pile. -
This it? If so, this is the format you need to use w/o the quotes. Just paste it in as text. " "

Alexia's 1987 To 1997 Comanche
HOrnbrod replied to Alexia's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
For me? No. For Jeep? :dunno: Been seriously looking at and corresponding about the Eaton 90 side mount kit though. Just not sure how much good it'll do for the stroker though. Sorry for cluttering up your build thread Alex. -
703 injectors for 92 4 liter?
HOrnbrod replied to 1989 comanche mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The 703's will run fine in a stock NA 92 4.0 engine using the stock FPR if that is your question. Do you have emissions testing in your location? If so, you should get it tested after you install these injectors. An A/F gauge is always nice to have so you can monitor the actual a/f ratio under varied conditions. -
What Minuit knows about stock Jeep radios
HOrnbrod replied to Minuit's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
So is there not a way to intercept the signal before its amplified? Well, there's a way, but it'll require picking off the L/R audio channels before they go to the radio final amp stage and wiring them out to RCA chassis jacks. Not hardly worth the effort, plus you'll ruin the factory unit's originality. I like this small external amp application and will be looking forward to the results. I could use a little more volume with the new AM/FM/CD factory unit I recently put in, especially with the CDs. Probably have to upgrade the mediocre Sony Exploder speakers too........... -
Mitsubishi J54 diesel Jeep
HOrnbrod replied to thejim42's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Way to go! I've no idea how the vehicle import Customs regulations work today. Can you get it back to Bama? 32K km - that thing isn't even broken in yet. -
You don't mention if it's LWB or SWB. The front you can get at the yard from a similarly equipped XJ donor. HERE is a thread about driveshaft lengths. It's basically useless with all the errors in it. I would just finish up the conversion, then measure for the eye-to-eye distance you need for the rear shaft and have a local driveshaft shop cut and balance your old shaft.

The side mount Eaton M90 kit? That requires the later 3-bolt power steering mount which you already have, so you are good to go. I'm looking at this kit too. Go ahead and get it, and let me know how if flies. I'd trust your review on this kit over the canned recommendations from people I don't know.

Was referring to the Rochester Corvair carbs as in the original post.
-
The throttle valve regulates air velocity through the carb and controls the amount of fuel delivered to the engine. If in a multiple carb setup the throttle valves don't open equally it will affect the main and acceleration circuits as much if not more than float level. Float level is set and forget as long as it doesn't clog up.
-
The right and left A-pillar trim pieces from 84-96 4-dr XJs can be used on MJs. Same p/n's.
