Maybe you should call the U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff with your plan. Reminds me of the 1991 Mt Pinatubo volcanic eruption in the Philippines that took out the Subic Bay Naval Station, Clark Air Base, and several other smaller facitities. That was great fun being there at the time. Our gov used the opportunity to pull all the military out of the Philippines a year later rather than rebuild. I'd still be there if they decided to rebuild. Natural disasters can happen anywhere, anytime. Relocating the facility would be a lot more expensive than rebuilding. Ain't going to happen.

Hot hot hot! Comanche crank no start
HOrnbrod replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Unfortunately those oil-filled pressure gauges will leak over time - mine did after a few years and I removed it. I think it would be better to stick a 1/8 NPT Schrader valve in there for quick and easy fuel pressure testing like the below. That's what that plug is for anyhow, a diagnostic port. EDIT: To answer a PM, The gauge wasn't leaking fuel; the damping fluid inside the meter was seeping out a bit around the lens. That's why I junked the rail fuel gauge. http://www.riffraffdiesel.com/replacement-schrader-valve-fuel-injection-rated-1-8-npt/ -
You don't want to burn no stinkin' pine. Those Georgia pine trees fall down if you look at them wrong. You took a hit Bo, but could have been much worse.

Isn't there a 1/8" NPT plug on the throttle body for checking fuel pressure? -
Yeah, she's in contact with the authorities nearly hourly. Doesn't look like a quick fix....

Did you check the pressure to be safe? -
Crap - I went to edit my post and somehow deleted it. The 20K air cooled model will be fine for us. Longest we've been w/o power is 20 days a few years ago due to a tornado. Not fun. I have a 7K portable for the fridge and lights, but would love something bigger for A/C or heat. AND self-starting. Will call next Monday...

91 Comanche 4.0 dies when warm (Fixed!)

Here's the 94 coil and wiring harness on Ebay. These are rare and tough to find. From the FSM: Correct ECU for a US 91 w. standard trans., non-Cali, w. RFI: 56027532 -
You need to add armrests and they would be perfect.

Check the ECU 60-pin connector and receptacle for any bent or recessed pins. Use some contact cleaner and douche out and lightly brush clean the connectors. Might help, but I've never heard of an OBD1 ECU causing ignition cut-off problems when warm. If the ECU is bad, most the engine will not start and there will be a code. The most common causes of ignition cut-off I've experienced are a bad CPS (threw a code), bad distributor sync (cam) sensor (threw a code), and/or a bad ignition coil (did not throw a code). After all is said and done and you still have not found the cause of your cut-off problem, replace your original distributor with one from a 1994 and up OBD1 4.0 engine. It's a great upgrade, because when the distributor (cam) sensor fails with the 91 distributor, you have to pull the distributor, bench disassemble it entirely including the shaft and drive gear, replace the sensor, then do the reverse. On the 94 and up distributor, the cam sensor is right on top under the distributor cap. To replace the sync sensor simply pull off the cap, rotor, unplug the sync sensor and replace. Ten minutes tops. You can see the 4.0 Jeep engine distributor differences HERE. -

No, it doesn't matter, at least in my case it didn't. I ran a 91 ECU supposedly for a manual in my automatic for a couple of months and it made no difference. But I did install the correct auto ECU in later. -

That's a re-man (probably by Cardone) ECU, not an original. See this LINK. Cardone Control Module - Remanufactured Part #79-8528 Line: A1 But it crosses to the correct ECU factory p/n, 56005707, so it should be correct. If you can find an original, I'd replace the re-man as a last resort. I'd rather have a correct original in there.... The originals have a tag like the below with the p/n and manufacturing date. -
After every natural (or unnatural) disaster, the first responders are always the POS looters. The human excrement who make their sorry living by preying upon others' misfortunes. Pond slime scum... Tyndall AFB was leveled and there is talk about a closure. My daughter is an air battle manager instructor there for officers, and it's her first "shore" duty after years of flight duty over the middle east. She's naturally concerned what's going to happen to her next as everyone else who is stationed there is...

Oct'18 Rangell and who the heck let Chevy in here??

Looks great, tastefully done. The more I see of the late model XJ front end the more I like it. I would love to see some more pics of the finished engine bay and the interior. Beautiful rig! -
Long time ago Wahoo. Had to be one of the coldest days in my life.

Err, he says he has a closed system. OP, might be a good idea to create a signature:

My daughter got word from a neighbor friend who stayed during the hurricane that her house is still standing, but the windows are all blown out. Could have been a lot worse. The neighbor also stated that looters are already roaming around. Daughter and husband will probably head down in the next couple of days to board the house up. Tyndall AFB where she is stationed received a direct hit causing extensive damage and the base is closed indefinitely. And that all evacuated personnel should make plans for an extended time away from the base....

If you have no idea when the cooling system was last serviced, service it. Start with a good system flush and go from there. Still running the original radiator? Here's a good how-to.

I flew from the Marshall Islands to Waynesboro, VA to buy mine, site unseen.

What's the p/n on the ECU tag? Should be 56005707 (original) or 56027528 (optional). -
No worries here Pete up in north Bama.

Sure is a nice truck Tim. That's why I used your pic.

My USAF daughter with her husband and dogs arrived late last night from Florida. She had recently been transferred from OK to Tyndall Air Force Base outside of Panama City, bought a house, and settled in. Cat 3 Hurricane Michael is roaring in and headed directly for this area. I'm just happy they are all here and safe with us. Whatever happens later today in FL happens, nothing you can do about it except insure everyone is out of harms way. Damn, getting awfully tired of this nasty weather lately..

No codes? You should have gotten a 12 and 55 at least. If not something's wrong or you didn't do the procedure correctly.
