Tailshaft Extension Parts needed fm. Transmission Parts USA: 1. 94401, Jeep AW4 tailshaft extension housing seal, 1987-on, $3.04 2. 76635, A340, AW4, 38mm transmission extension housing bushing, $2.59 3. 94635A, A340, AW4, 35mm extension housing bushing, $4.10 Prices might be higher now. When I did mine years ago, I pulled the tailshaft extension and brought it to a tranny shop to replace the bushing (not a bearing) & seal . The shop said don't pull it next time, just bring the truck in and they could replace the bushing for cheap (less than $40 at the time). Also the bushing had to be reamed which I couldn't have done anyhow. Transmission USA recommended getting both bushings (38 & 35 mm) because both sizes have been found in the early 90's AW4s, according to them. My slip yoke was also scored; I replaced it at the same time I got the new seal and bushing. No leaks or vibes since then.

Check the slip yoke shaft for scoring/scars/corrosion. Might be the reason you are eating up the seals. Also does your 93 XJ have an AW4? If so, I'll give you the bushing p/n's.

Roger. If you have the engine/AW4 bolted in with the AW4 tranny mount bolted to both the tranny and cross member, how are you getting an inch of front-to-back movement? On my 91 LWB w. I6 and AW4, the cross member is centered between the frame rails. See it this LWB frame drawing helps at all:
-
Are you trying to use the 86 cross member to support the new AW4? It would be better to grab a cross member from a 87 and up MJ, bolt in the new 95 4.0 after you mod the firewall for clearance (you might have to mod the engine mounts too), bolt on the AW4 supported with jacks, slide the 87 cross member under, then install the new AW4 transmission mount and see where the cross member holes fall out on the frame rails. Your 86 cross member won't have the correct AW4 transmission mount holes.

Cracking up...along with my inner fenders!
HOrnbrod replied to coolwind57's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hmmm. I don't have any gap(s) like that. The liners tuck inside the fender flare lip all the way around. Even all the holes for the push pins lined up. I noticed RA uses different vendors for manufacturing these fender liners, all in China I'm sure. Maybe the mold is different between them. I was quite satisfied with the set I bought. Any chance you can post pics of these gaps? -
Hope you guys can work something out.

Poly Transmission mounts

I wasn't aware of that. So all 4.0 MJs would use the offset version, si? -

As far as I can see, your mount replaces only the #24 cushion on the below diagram from the 91 parts manual. It looks like #24 is the same mount for manual or auto trannys and there is also no distinction between 2WD and 4WD. Should work on all. But what is your offset mount for? -

Fit both 91-92 manual and auto transmissions? 2WD also? -
keneaobi, I strongly encourage you to accept Jeff's offer. I doubt you will find anyone in your area with more MJ expertise.

Sure did, going on 32 years now. She's from Iloilo. I worked in the PI for many years - been all over Mindanao. -
Why are you trying to remove the lower Torx bolts if you are just replacing the end links?? Are the bolts broken? Disco the end links at the top on both sides, slide the sway bar up, then remove the nuts from the L & R lower Torx bolts, and slide the end links off.

92 4X4 Michigan ... $5500 No reserve ...
HOrnbrod replied to NHMJXJ's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
It's an excellent unmolested example - but you know that. Glad that topper is going away too. That's the only thing I didn't like about it. -
Still have the other one - I just change them out occasionally. Good to hear y'all doing okay in Fairfield.

This MJ has been taken off Ebay. Seller must have received a back channel offer he couldn't refuse. Looked like a real nice MJ. -

Do you know what the distributor problem was? Electrical, mechanical, ?? Might help someone else if you know the cause. -
You should reupholster your seats and door panels with the same material.
-
That's nice. (Is this post a question or a statement?)

From what year XJ did the motor come from? Did you have wiring diagrams for both units to match the truck harness wire functions to the new motor? Definitely sounds like the motor is wired wrong........
