  1. I'd like to know if there is anyone on this forum (besides myself of course) that is specifially in the Clayton, NC area. I've seen 3 other MJs driving around and I'd like to meet up one day.
  2. Craigslist is the only place I could direct you for parts XJs. I attempted to look in the South FL / Miami region for a parts XJ but all I found was a '94 2WD automatic. Could get the engine, harness and dash, sell the rest.. http://miami.craigslist.org/brw/pts/4156555437.html
  3. Ok, I'm subscribed to this thread... You're MJ is one of the cleanest and most well put together I think I've seen in a long time. Take pride in your work sir because you have fully captivated my attention. I don't think I've ever been so excited about an MJ until tonight hahaha.
  4. Why do you want an internal slaved AX-15? Why not a '94+ as they're a little stronger and you won't have to drop the tranny when the slave fails?
  5. Ok, awesome! That's the tire size I'm going for and on turbine rims, so that's perfect. Thanks man!
  6. Sweet, that's what I was looking for. 87Warrior, what sized tires are those? That's the look I'm going for. Thanks guys!
  7. I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but where and what kind of shackles can I get to provide 1.5" of lift in the rear of my 4WD MJ? It's an '86 if that matters. I've got some 1.5" coils spacers, so I want to match the rear. Chevy lowering shackles maybe?
  8. I'd have to agree. I can't think of any other way to do it. Pull the shaft and count the splines.
  9. It's not like it isn't written on the side of the vehicle or anything.... :shake:
  10. I agree with all of the above.
  11. Yep, that's a genuine C8.25 from an XJ that some dumbass put under there without re-welding spring perches... This is how the MJ's (SUA, in this case) vs. the XJ's differ: (Not necessarily to scale) You need to remove that, get some new perches and have them re-welded in the correct spot. It would be a good idea to tilt the axle upward too since it looks like the angle on your drive shaft is a little harsh. Would also be a good idea to remove the XJ's shock mounts too since they're not needed... That explains the anomaly and the toasted bushings... haha. Would you mind taking a few more pictures from different angles so we can see more of the stupidity of the PO?
  12. I was hoping someone would chime in with a good gear oil to use. I put it in my AX15 when I did the big overhaul on my MJ and it shifts really smoothly. Even on a cold day, shifting into 2nd gear is muy bueno.
  13. When/if you do change the fluid (which should be done at regular intervals), fill her up with RedLine MT-90 (75W-90 API GL-4).
  14. Clayton, NC here... just below Raleigh. Been driving my rebuilt MJ for a week now... . :MJ 1: .

  16. I use brake cleaner or carb cleaner on my oily stuff. Super Clean, engine degreaser, Dawn dish soap and GoJo all work great too. Any combination of these will give phenomenal results.
  17. Thanks Don. However, I can not take credit for the picture as I did not create it. Whenever I find useful diagrams and .pdfs on the web, I save them on my laptop. It's nice to pull them out when another member needs help. But thank you for making it a sticky for all others to use.
  18. Jim... you sir, are a lucky SOB. Good find. Does this make the 8th, 9th MJ you have possession over in the Western US? lol
  19. This is where I put mine in my XJ...
  20. I've done it three times in a matter of 2 weeks lol.
  21. http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/dash-removal-35444/ There you go. Easy-peasy.
  22. PFC, you're like me... cheap, basic cell phone among other things to keep more money for the never ending gold digger that is the Jeep way of life haha.
  23. The dash isn't the issue. It's the wiring that will be different (plugs and what not). As far as all the bolts, everything should line up between the two styles of steering columns. I've never done a swap like that, but I have owned a '96 XJ and several Renix era Jeeps with the GM style column. IIRC, the way they're wired are different.
