Hopefully I haven't overlooked this somewhere in the settings page, but I think there should be a setting that can be changed to default all posts of the user to a given font of their choosing. For instance, I always type all of my posts in Verdana, Bold, 12pt. But, I have to select everything I type once I'm done and change it to my preferred font. I've gotten quite used to it, but was wondering if this is something CC could add in somewhere. Thanks in advance CC admins and HTML gurus!

1990 Sport Truck Concord, Nc
onlyinajeep726 replied to AirborneDeth's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Welcome to the forum! I live in NC too. Used to live in the university area of Charlotte while I was going to school there. Can't wait to see some pictures of this thing. Perhaps when you get it built like you want it, we can meet up at URE. -
Yea... at most it's worth $1800-ish...
-
Yep, '94 and newer. I got just the trans. for $175 found on Craigslist, had to eBay a bellhousing and shift fork for another $150 + shipping. Got a new, pre-filled master and slave hydraulic system for another $100+ (RockAuto), LuK clutch kit for another $90+ (RockAuto), and RedLine MT-90 API GL-4 gear oil for another $65 (Amazon.com). Yes, it gets costly, but it's worth it when you're said and done.

Not giving us much to go on, such as year, mileage, factory options, aftermarket mods, etc... I paid $1500 for my '86 with just shy of 82,000 miles on the body and trans. Engine wasn't original, but it was the 2.5L. Virtually rust free except for the usual floor board issue. $3000 is acceptable for something that is in pretty immaculate condition. Anything more than that, and they've got a lot of time and mods in it.

1988 Comanche - First Jeep.
onlyinajeep726 replied to Megadan's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Daystar makes one I believe and it shouldn't matter if its for an XJ or MJ... An AX15 is an AX15. Most of those aftermarket sites usually overlook our MJ models... http://www.quadratec.com/products/76058_831.htm http://www.amazon.com/Daystar-KJ01010BK-Transmission-Mount-Engine/dp/B003EOX83K -
You'll need the shift fork and its retaining clip, throwout bearing, the input shaft plate (the thing that the throwout bearing slides back and forth on), an external slave cylinder (or pre-filled/pre-bled master and slave system) and of course a new clutch kit (LuK is what I'd highly recommend). All of this can be bought on RockAuto.com IIRC. Here's a good link: - http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/leans-ax-15-external-slave-swap-pics-965067/

It's the same bell housing. They are swappable.

1988 Comanche - First Jeep.
onlyinajeep726 replied to Megadan's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
First off, welcome to the forum! If you're able to find '94+ AX-15, I'd recommend that if you're going to do a swap. Slave cylinder on those are external so you don't have to drop the tranny when the slave fails. Just some food for thought. -
Makes sense to me. But, I have electrical experience and all that jazz.

95-96 Master & Booster Swap On An 86?
onlyinajeep726 replied to zackcj7's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I did the WJ booster on my '86. No problem. The firewall is the same there across all years... -
Making XJ buckets work in a MJ
onlyinajeep726 replied to mfpdm's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Sub'd. -
You can use the MJ floor brackets from a bench seat (which I assume you have) and mate them to some XJ seats with the straight tracks. 2-door XJ seats are preferred as they fold forward. Pete M has a picture somewhere on the forum. Edit: Here you go: Also, here's a write up: http://comancheclub.com/topic/7656-making-xj-buckets-work-in-a-mj/

The truly "custom" '86 MJ Custom.
onlyinajeep726 replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
So, it's been 2 weeks and so far, so good. Painted the passenger side rims black to match the other two, cleaned the chrome trim rings and painted the hood to match the rest of the truck. Other than that, just driving her to and from work and running errands. . :MJ 1: .- 80 replies

Lots of good information presented here. Function supersedes form.

Oh, ok... Well maybe one day then lol. Thanks for all the info.

I wasn't aware you could lift a Compass... We are talking about this Dodge Caliber thing below, right?
-
Thank you good sir! So if I want to make a submission, I just shoot you a PM?
-
Thanks Cruiser... I was thinking that but didn't want to say for sure and give the wrong length. Lowes Home Improvement only goes in half sizes (at least mine does). I remember now I bought the 2" ones and ground off a quarter inch.

I think Jeep died in 2006 when they ceased production of the 4.0. I understand why they did it, but that was the start of the downward slope that is now Jeep... I'm not a fan of the JKs but if stuck with the option of it versus any other Jeep post 2006, I'd get it for the modify-ability... The only exception to that (to me) is the Grand Cherokee SRT8. But I, in no way, would ever take the GC SRT8 offroad. In reality, I'll keep my '88 XJ for my wheeling and my '86 MJ for the daily drives to work and what not. When gas gets totally outrageous, I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

7/16"-14 for the bottom ones and 3/8"-16 for the top ones (get hex heads to replace the E12 inverted torx). Length of the bottom ones are not an issue as it can't bottom out in the block, but the top ones can bottom out so make sure to measure the old ones. I know my hardware store didn't have the exact length, so I bought longer ones and ground off the end until I had the right length for each. Also, word to the wise... Get SAE8 bolts and make sure they are not Made in China... Taiwan and the good ol' US of A is acceptable. :USAflag:

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but how do you make a submission towards MJOTM? I've been on this forum since January and have seen a lot of awesome, deserving MJ's and their respective owners. I'd like to a take a stab at it as I feel like I may have a chance given then transformation my MJ has had in the past 11 months.

What year and LWB or SWB? 4WD?
-
Not sure to be honest... I think the 4WD models sit higher from factory to account for the weight and sag over the course of 20+ years. Probably doesn't make a difference now lol. It'll sit 2" higher than whatever you're at now.
