  1. Well if you want to give away another pair, this guy right here needs a set :brows: . Mine were plastic and just cracked away in the sun.
  2. Yes. I got my VC from a '94 I believe. Just grab them bolts too because they're longer for the thicker flanged bottom.
  3. Supposed to be. As for a valve cover, get an aluminum one from a newer Cherokee with the 2.5L and grab the bolts too. You'll have to modify the breathers a little, but it can be done.
  4. 4BT swaps have been done, but like mvusse mentioned, they're heavy as hell, extensive fabrication to get it to work and parts are getting harder and harder to come by. I'd love to do something like that myself, but there are a lot of other options if you want to go diesel. Krustyballer is working on a B3.3 swap, there's a guy floating around on some Jeep forum doing an OM617 swap and another doing a Kubota swap. Just depends on what you're willing to do and how deep your pockets are.
  5. That thing is clean. The only thing that bugs me about his ad is it says "Anti-Lock Brakes". As far as I knew, MJ's never came with ABS.
  6. Damn, I should've recorded mine... Took a full 10 seconds to start... The battery is old and is weak. Almost died before it started. And it's 23°F where I'm at.
  7. The "Aux/Emergency Heat" is supposed to come on automatically to supplement the heat pump when the temperature in the house can't be maintained at the set point. Mine is giving me issues too and it's just over a year old. Heat pump has been running all night as we got down to about 12°F. This weather is very unusual... I say, give this cold crap back to the Canadian and the Artic... I certainly don't want it.
  8. Nice man! You're in the home stretch now. Post a video of her.
  9. Could grab the carrier and pinion from it if it is 4.10s. Did was it an automatic or the AX15? If so, grab that bellhousing! lol
  10. Don't know that the Dakota axle would work without fabrication. It might be a 9.25 (12 bolt cover).
  11. That's neat.
  12. Simplest route to rid yourself of the 2.8L is to get a '91+ 2.5L (because it's MPFI and boasts 130 hp / 139 ft-lbs) and would not need fabrication to the hood latches or firewall to fit. Also, you could retain your current tranny or find a Dakota bellhousing and swap in an AX15 while you're there. You'd have to run the engine/PCM and dash harnesses, get a electric fuel pump and appropriate sending unit for your tank. I'm sure there something I'm missing but others will chime in. My 4.0L/AX15 swap was tedious but not impossible. Did have to swap the hood and its latches and bash in the firewall. Also had to relocate the tranny crossmember. If I ever get my hands on another '86 (assuming it's not running right), I will be going with a '91+ 2.5L. V8 swap is another option, but then you get into some trouble with keeping the engine properly cooled since the nose of the MJ/XJ is so narrow. The other option is the 3.4L as suggested. Not sure all the in's and out's on that one (not sure if it's carb'd or fuel injected). Fuel injected option would require the same work as 2.5L. Same suggestion on tranny upgrade there too.
  13. Yea, I have to replace mine too or just lube it up really good. Been squealing/whining in this colder weather.
  14. My dad and I took a trip out to Charlotte today to handle some business with his tenants at a rental place and on the way back home, we stopped off for lunch at Sonic in Harrisburg. Low-and-behold, a genuine Jeep Comanche was parked a handful of yards away in the next lot over, behind the Pizza Hut. I remember seeing it there last year as well when I still lived in Charlotte. Seems like it may be owned by an employee there. I grabbed a few pictures and was going to grab the VIN, but the VIN plate in the dash was missing. I think it may be an '87 because it still has the AMC branded seat belts but it was a SWB (so not an '86 at least). No idea if it was a 2.5L or 4.0L since the badges have been removed. I would've put a CC card under the wiper, but we were driving my dad's Volvo, so none to be had at that moment. Anyone on this forum own it by chance? I would have stopped in right quick to speak with you, but was pressed for time.
  15. I think it's a brilliant idea and would be willing to contribute. Cruiser and a few others should jump in on this being that we have some very MJ savvy folks here.
  16. Very cool! (Literally haha)
  17. You can, but you'd need to swap computer, harness and likely inside dash harnesses too. Block and head should be same, but I'll let another member chime in on that part. It's something I contemplated in my '86 but for all that work, I just went ahead and threw in a 4.0 instead.
  18. Yes. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/cherokee-stock-specs-26256/#post168071
  19. Yea, all that grime can cause a bad signal to be generated since it's blocking the tip of the CPS. Cruiser's tips suggest a good cleaning can help, especially on manual transmission equipped Jeeps (worn off clutch material sticking to the CPS).
  20. The AX15 and NV3500 bellhousing is the exact same behind the 4.0L. I would assume if they used the same tranny combos in the Dakota behind the 2.5L, those too would also be the same. Not sure about the NV1500... But I'd grab the bellhousing at very least. The AX15 is 20x better than the AX5. It can take far more abuse than the AX5. One problem with the AX5 is the 5th gear likes to crap out after it gets some mileage. You can always get a 4WD version of the AX15 later if you want to convert/retain 4WD on your MJ and you'd already have the Dakota bellhousing.
  21. Idiot... He had to have put that thing through hell before this video for it to have done that. That, or the frame was eat up with rust. Still a giant idiot and his "buddies" too.
  22. Looks great man! As fast as you've gotten your build done, you need to come out and help the rest of us haha.
  23. Checked the fuse yet?
