  1. I would ask them to publish all the pppl who have dog and cat licenses for that matter too. Or better yet.. what about the exotic pets licenses. Where I live 2 counties over.. if you own a snake, emu or other out of the norm pet.. you have to register and get specal insurance. It was one of the reasons I got rid of my snake.
  2. Congrats man... You will be really happy with having a garage. Just make sure you don't use it to park cars in :huh???: Ok let the wifey park hers in there... set your side up for tool storage and parts... now that you will have space for it. Keep in mind work tables and benches are clutter magnets.
  3. I worked at a bosy shop some yrs ago, and a late 70's ford came in with lil zinc anodes attatched everywhere on the vehicle, and suprisingly the rig had no visible rust on it. Mind you this truck was used by a waterman to haul crabs to the pickers. Just needed a reapiant and some dent repair.
  4. I know, I went out and secured my gates tonight(even though this came out a week ago and there isn't one new comment on it). Makes me feel like a registered sex offender or something. Have you asked them why they did this? That would be my first cause of action. Then I would ask to see if a list is published concering other domestic animals.
  5. I have installed the RK kit. It was a realitively easy install. You will need a 1/2, and a 3/4 Drill bit. It too does require some welding. Nothing extreme but the frame sleeves need to welded in. Also you will need a right hand drill to make it easy to drill the inside of the frame. You also need to drill a hole in the uCA mount on the axle for a grease fitting. On the rk kit.. You can prepare everything before it is time for the swap... then swap everything over. With basic tools and all the needed tools this could be done in a day, on the front. Depending on how you are lifting your rig.. a weekend is all it would take. When I installed mine.. I welded my brackets to the frame too, cause I know how abusive I am to my equipment
  6. The ones I have encountered have all been 8mm on the front on the driveshaft. You need to use a 6 sided socket to remove them if they have never been removed before. The factory used some kind of loctite on it. What I ended up doing was cutting a 8mm socket down then tacking a grade 8 3/8 bolt and grinding it down so it is now a 1/4". insert that into socket, then use a ratcheting box wrench from there.
  7. This is where shopping and being pateint really pays off. You need to have money in hand, cause lots of time really good deals come up when ppl are in distress. My suggestion is look for used stuff first. I can't tell you how many used lift parts I have in my garage (not for sale) cause I never know what I am going to build next.
  8. There are some othe disadvantages to DB's, as well as some LA's. They become rock magnets. I have run both of them, and I definately prefer long arms to db's. Currently I am running Rock krawlers 3 link and love it. Also a 6.5 you can clear 35's with bump stopping
  9. I would drive it. :smart: Thought about painting the Turd Pink
  10. I have a xj with 33's and 4.10's with a manual trans. I wish I would have gone with 4.56's. I have to down shift on some of the hills so I can keep up with traffic.
  11. Good job... shame you had to do the work the Posatl inspector should have done.
  12. I just did this swap a few months back. Tha Alloy USA shafts are available from just about any parts dealer. I used 4wheel parts wholesalers. As for the prop valve. I all ready had a XJ prop valve so I went down to the j-yard and got the prop valve off of a ZJ and removed the spring, and then re-installed it in the xj one on the vehicle. The one on the left is from the ZJ. Here is what the TJ rubicon retainer plates redrilled should look like
  13. You are going to need to "clearance" your floor a lil.. but good choice on your setup. Will be stupid easy to drop a chevy D60 up front :smart:
  14. I did this very swap. You will need to hve the ZJ backing plate and caliper mount redrilled to fit a XJ D44 pattern. You will also need to have the center hole enlarged about 1/16 to fit the seal through. What I did was I used the Alloy USA D44 chromo kit and had the retainer plate redrilled to fit my xj d44. This eliminated the need to have a spacer made.
  15. Got mine too :D Thanks man
  16. There are several different belts available for it too. One with ac and no power steering. One with power steering and no AC. I think the v-belts ones were for the 2.5's with out either the AC or the Power steering.
  17. Thats scary
  18. Either way.. I would replace both if you bought it. Since you have to pull the trans... might as well replace that as well. If you pay a shop to do it... most will not charge an extra to do it either.
  19. I have some 4x4x1/4 angle and some 4"x 1/4 flat..... A lil cutting, welding and a lil work on the drill press... should be able to make a set of reinforcements after measureing in less then 20 minutes :smart: all ready have half a plan for it :D
  20. It all depends on the kind of deal you can work. I got 2 ax15's for a 91 4.0 head  Np 231's well, they ussually go for 100 bucks. At least that is the most I have seen them for on the local boards, unless they had a SYE or some other conversion. If I would have known you were looking for one... I know where a whole vehicle can be had cheap ( ask Jeff the story)
  21. If it was me... and unless I could install gears myself.. I would run stock axles with the ratio I wanted. Since you want 4.10's just find a stock axle with them in it. Running used gears ( I do) is really only for ppl who use their rigs as trail rigs, or who install gears, or have buddies that do and give great deals. If I was going to buy gears, I would look at what my end goal was for the rig and save for the needed parts. Remember new gears price vary very lil between 4.56 and 4.10's if any. You will need a new carrier for the front, and for the rear you can get "thick" gears or a new carrier and gears. Keep in mind install kits are around a 100 bucks an axle. Normal labor can be up to 350 an axle (unless you have a buddy who does them). So if you come across a deal where you can buy a set of axles all ready built sometimes that is the way to go. Alloy USA sells rear chrom axles with all the needed crap for under 300. Fronts expect to pay around 600 for alloy usa's shipped. Upgrade the front shafts to 30 spline if you are changing to an aftermarket locker. For the rear... you can upgrade to 33 spline shafts... but 30 splines live well with moderate to abusive wheeling.
  22. DC.. you are the first person I have seen be honest about leaf sprining the front. :clapping: I still think I am going to do it.. but I am linking the rear  I think It will work ok.. Until I link the front as well :D
  23. I ran RE db's on Pong for a yr or so... they flex great. I am sure they are the same design. They are a bit of a PITA to install, but they are great. If you want once you install them and if you feel it is needed I think I can fab up som reinforcement brackets.
  24. For delivery drivers.. my tipping is based on time, and how many items. Normally about 1 dollar per item.. if under 30 minutes. I live 2 miles from the delivery place. For dine in experiences it varies greatly. Most of the time it is 20-25% but I also tip based on service, and food prep. If the waitress brings me out something that shouldn't have been served... well her tip is hurt. If the waitress makes me wait a long time for a refill or beer.. As of late I have had some bad experiences. Went to a local Italian resturant after church Sunday. Wife and I wanted a nice meal. We get seated.. waitress is on it too. We order drinks.. they are out in less then 3 minutes. We ordered our meal.... Salads came out in under 5(great so far) Well now more ppl are coming in... well the table to my right gets seated.. orders, as does my table to the left. Well 10 minutes goes by.. and both tables have their food :fs1: So I politely ask where my lunch is.. I am told 5 minutes. :???: So 10 more minutes go by.. waitress comes back and ask if I needed anything.. I said "my lunch would be nice" :dunno: So 5 more minutes go by and she starts complaining about the kitchen staff.. I say "can I have my check?" She acts or bewildered that after waiting 30 minutes I wanted to leave. Of course they comped our salds and drinks. Needless to say that place has been crossed off the places I will go and eat at. Shame to.. they make good Italian food when you get it.
