  1. It might not be to your liking, but the guy did some good work on it, and made it his. If I knew what the reserve was, and had the extra cash.. I would consider buying it, and swapping in a d60 up front and wheel it. There was a Tug at the annual run, and it had rock jock 60's front and rear along with a klune v.. talk about a sick rig. The guy could get out and spot himself on the trail
  2. I ain't skeered  you skeered  All kidding aside.. doubt you will ever have an issue with it.
  3. Here is an idea. Build a 4409. Use the spider trax center section 399 +S/H, buy a used center section 50, some gears 199 and some used outer of a d44, 50 bucks. The shafts are what would hurt you. They would be around 700 for a nice set of moly shafts. almost indestructible if you ask me
  4. Jeff, do you really expect to break a d44 shaft? Gabe in MPJAI finally broke a stock one, but he had 15 hard wheeling trips on it, and a 5 to 1 t-case, 5.13's and is very throttle happy when he needs to be. If you are worried about it.. upgrade to some alloy usa shafts and call it good.
  5. I think what the guy did was made something work for his situation. Stop arguing over wether or not it will work, and let him tell us how it survives over the long haul. :smart: If it doesnt survive I recommend the MSD pump works good on my trail truggy.
  6. a little in touch with your feminine side there pong? lol, I suppose at least the truck isn't painted girly colours :help: I guess he has no friends.. cause I know someone would have told him his stuff is ghey :agree: and if he does I am sure they don't ride in his junk
  7. Man you guys are so mean.. thats me not in this life time but it sounded good
  8. I had Direct TV for about 5 yrs. I hated it. I live in a area prone to thunderstorms. So needless to say everytime it rained I lost signal. Then the rates kept going up every year. I ended up going with cable, and for the most part I have been pleased especially since I got my interent on it now, instead of dial up. I actually ended up saving money by getting cable.
  9. I now know how to decorate my yard for next yr :brows: My neirbors don't like me so its perfect :smart:
  10. This is a helluva a good deal for someone able to get their truck to them. :smart: I think some ppl think MJ's are worth more then what they are   Personally I can't wait to see what they look like when they are done
  11. There has been lots of discusion on this topic. Basically nothing besides a TJ d44 axle wil bolt in. There are lots of companies that make brackets and trusses for this. most are under 400 shipped. Then the issue becomes steering and knuckles.
  12. I kept them on the rear, but I lways junk them in the front
  13. Before I really started doing all my own work.. I had a shop do a bottom end kit on Pong. Well to make a long story short.. they didnt install a distributor gasket  and we chased an oil leak for months trying to find it.
  14. Well not sure how much a new pump is, but I used the MSD 2225 in Pong when I added the cell. Personally I mounted my pump up high out of the way of mud and water.
  15. In my area you can buy surplus ones with disc brakes and a detriot locker in "new" condition for 700. With out the disc they go for 500. These are for military surplus that are " new" in the shipping crates. Most of the time good useable axles that are complete and have good brakes.. can bring around 200 bucks. If the brakes are shot.. they are worth 100 at the most in my opinion.
  16. You can have a craked head as well. Not all of the time does the water go into the oil. Sometimes it goes out the exhaust. Start your truck and smell for coolant or the smell of "steam"
  17. Check your fuel pressure. I know on the 4.o's when it does this.. it is ussually a symptom of the fuel pump going bad. Ths is especially true if it takes a while for it to start.
  18. See MJJeff's post in the build up area. He just finished this swap, and did a rather good job of it... 90% of his parts came from rigs I had stripped over the yrs, and were sitting in my garage.
  19. I experienced the same problem this weekend in the Turd while wheeling. I ended up blowing my headgasket at least, and maybe cracking the head :headpop:
  20. I assume you are talking about an 8.8 or an isuzu rear. Basically you will need to move the spring perches, and get a companion flange. I reccommend getting a spicer one. Also with the 8.8 got to the dealer and get the u-bolts.. they are kinda special. Lots of ppl try to adapt their brake cable to make the parking brake work. I recommend by a line lock from summit or jegs and install that. The 9" unless it came from an early bronco, is a different width. For the front find a waggy d44 and buy a truss from a reputable company and wheel. I personally use a d30 with a few mods. Alloy usa shafts, LCA skid plates, with no issues. BTW I am abusive on my stuff
  21. I live in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US. Around here you see lots of trailers on land with shops. Before the wife and I bought our house we looked at some "mobile homes" on the lots at dealers. They had one that was a triple wide. The thing was 42'x70' and came fully furnished  Bad part was the price was 110k then you had to have land. The latest craze in my area is developers using modulars. They are similar to trailers in many ways, but they come on a flat bed, are set in place by a crane and can have mutiple levels. The price is about 2/3's that of a traditionally built house. If it was me I would buy the place with the biggest shop you can afford. Myt 20x20 garage is way small once you put your tools and project in there. Ideally I could live with a 20x40, or a 30x 40.
  22. All that is correct. You can also get gears down to 5.38 IIRC. Some ppl are shaving these and having custom shafts made and welding d60 knuckles on them to make rear steer.
  23. I think you probrably "boiled" your tranny fluid. At least that is what it sounds like. Once that stuff gets hot and starts to boil it finds a way out the trans... It happens all the time at work with the fork trucks... especialy considering that the hydraulics are ran off the same fluid resivoir as the trans
  24. pingpong

    4x4 woops!

44 is a 8.5" ring gear, with 30 spline axles and possible bolt-in. offered in a 87-88 cherokee's are the most common place i've seen them but no cheap disk brake kits. I wouldn't call it cheap, but you can convert Grand Cherokee disc brake setup to a XJ d44. I did it... was it cheap.. parts were not bad, the machine work kinda was pricey, but that might have just been a local thing
