I'm 99% sure I have an 88 full cluster that's already been taken all apart and has half the pieces missing, but it's a good 100 miles away, and I have no idea when I would be up there again.
-
No, it's not. It might (but probably not) be the same as the 3/4 cluster with the dummy lights and the tach, but if it's got the big fuel gauge, it is definitely different.

It's spam. Report it and ignore it.

2Wd Vibration In Steering Wheel @ 45-50Mph
Geonovast replied to 1987Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Even with new tires, they could still be the problem. Was it there before the new tires were put on? Shaking could be any number of things. Tires, Balljoints, TREs, Track bar(either end). Also don't rule out CA bushings. Get under it, and have someone slowly turn the wheel back and forth. Watch for any looseness in the steering components. You should be able to. -
Are you hitting the post button more than once? I've noticed that this new software can take awhile to process new threads, maybe people are getting a little too impatient and hitting it more than once, and the software processes it as separate threads.

The Jeep 2.5 starter does not bolt into the bellhousing. It bolts into the block. If you look at an AX-4/5 bellhousing, you can see there's no bolt holes for starter.
-
I don't see why you couldn't use any 2.5 Starter. There may be differences with different part numbers, but that doesn't mean they're not swappable. The 2.8 starter might not, can't say for sure, I've never worked with one. It's feasible it mounts to the block differently.

2.5 Ho/4.0 Ho Dash Harness
Geonovast replied to 87Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think they will. And for the tach, it shouldn't matter. 91+ tach was controlled by the ECU. The gauge cluster in that 2.5 came out of a 92 with a 4.0, and it reads accurately. -
Cable To Electronic Speedometer
Geonovast replied to chappy88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't remember exactly what the J is for, but it's negligible. What sort of identification are you looking for on the AX-15? They're pretty much all identical. -
Cable To Electronic Speedometer
Geonovast replied to chappy88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Actually, the 1991 231 can be cabled. Just pull the senders out of your 2wd trans and the 231, and put the cable driven sender into the transfercase. -
The 2wd calipers are different for the years where the 2wd beam axles used the bearing/rotor/spindle setup, which I believe was 87-94ish. You'll need to keep the calipers from the 2wd axle.

My family's first XJ. Got me into cars, into Jeeps. Had my parents not bought this when they did, I probably would not have ever cared what a Comanche was. I was 7 when this picture was taken(as was the XJ). ...and shortly after I started driving.

How To Completely Ruin A 92 M J

I... I like it, actually.

Have you checked the pressure? How do the plugs look?

Transmission Drain Plug Leaking
Geonovast replied to Biotex's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
According to his sig, he's got an AX-15. IIRC, the drain plug on that thing is pretty big, doubt he's going to find a replacement at a parts store. Washer ought to do it. -
What did you use to get the bearings and hubs back on? I never pulled mine off, but I was under the impression that a press was needed to get them back on.

Rebuilding the trans requires a good gear puller, a hydraulic press, and lots of patience. There are many small, oddly shaped parts that can get easily broken if installed incorrectly, or get lost. If you decide to rebuild it yourself, it would be a very good idea to get ahold of an already dead AX-4/5 and just play with the guts for awhile first. Several years ago I was able to convert an AX-4 into an AX-5 just by using a bucket of parts... but I didn't pull any of the gears or pressed bearings off of the output shaft. I don't remember which it is, but there's a type of fluid that eats up the synchros in an AX-5 because of an additive.

They seem to pop up randomly, but moreso on recently created or bumped threads. Lucky for us, we seem to have at least one mod online at any given time, so they're deleted pretty quickly.

Awesome. Sounds like a reasonable size.

So you want it to follow the body lines like the XJ? Sure thing.
-
Basically. They build walls out of them, and fill them with concrete.

I make these:

I haven't a clue. My photoshopping skills are much better than my body work skills... which are non existant. But a woody MJ would make a great prize for your scavenger hunt.

How To Completely Ruin A 92 M J
Geonovast replied to HOrnbrod's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
I think it would look better if it wasn't bobbed, and had a front bumper that went the entire width of the vehicle.
