  1. Well, there's that, but I think he was actually referring to the fact that if the OP gave us the details of the truck he got, then we could tell him exactly where to get a replacement, instead of asking a question that's about as specific as asking if a Ford axle will work in a Chevy.
  2. If same year/control system generation, engine, and transmission, yes.
  3. You need the 4wd transmission. The output shafts themselves are different.
  4. I've driven two vehicles with clutches beginning to slip, and they generally start to slip in the higher gears. The symptoms you described could be the throwout bearing (I'm sure that's what manchekid meant), but the reverse thing concerns me. I would check to see if the pressure plate bolts are coming loose. You should be able to get in there and check the bolts/see is the pressure plate moves at all by popping the starter out. Unfortunately you won't be able to really inspect everything without yanking the trans.
  5. Wouldn't that bracket mess up the track bar/draglink geometry, or does that high steer take care of that? I wouldn't be throwing used gears in that. If you're going through the trouble of changing it to 4.10, get new gears.

    Super Bowl

I usually don't watch the game if the Packers aren't playing. Used to, but the commercials are worthless nowadays... so I guess I'll for the team that isn't the 49ers. I am probably gonna raid a pizza deal from Pizza Hut or Papa Murphy's.
  7. I'm a little confused. There is no AW5. I'm assuming you mean AX-5. Unscrew the inner shifter boot, and remove the 4 bolts holding the entire assembly in. It's not too bad on the AX-4/5.
  8. Apparently I collect these now. I just can't get enough of these outdated things, even though I'm not using most of them. I've got like 4 more on the way.
  9. I may or may not have gotten that from Pat's FB page. :rotf:
  10. Isn't that the same thing you can get at Wal Mart for $4?
  11. Building a stroker involves A LOT to do it correctly, and it's not cheap. It's one of those "do it right or don't do it at all" things. You should be fine just throwing in a mild cam with rebuilding the engine. Don't expect too much extra though, without adding other mods. But, if you do other mods down the road, the cam will already be in there.
  12. I like it, but I'd ditch the running boards.
  13. There's an edit button between the multiquote and report buttons, on the bottom right of the post. If you do it on the first post of the thread, you should be able to change the title. At least it worked with the old software.
  14. IIRC, you need to have the end tag in caps as well for it to work.
  15. 5th gear won't be much use to you. The 2.5 tends to dog pretty bad in 5th with 3.55 axles. I did the same thing with an MPFI 2.5, and didn't even bother with 5th unless I was doing more than 70 on level ground. You can still use the trans obviously, for the 4wd conversion, but if you rely on 5th a lot, your mileage is probably going to go down. Just something to keep in mind.

    Wtb Egr For 4.0

Are you looking for the pipe, valve, or solenoid? Will your local inspection laws permit you to just eliminate it?
  17. Comanche Club only stores your profile picture, because it's only one per person and they're freaking tiny. You'll need to host the pictures on another site and link them to here, using the picture button, or the IMG tags as Alexia described. Photobucket will give you something to copy with the IMG tags already on it, and all you'll have to do is paste in your post.
  18. If you've never done a transmission before, it's going to be a great pain in the ....learning experience for you. As for setting up a clutch, you'll need to bolt in the manual pedals, drill a hole in the firewall for the master (should be outlined and dimpled for you). No linkages, clutch is hydraulic. If you're on a tight budget and timetable, sticking with an auto will be your best bet. However, if you decide you want to go the 5 speed route, we can walk you through it.
  19. Correct, 2wd transmissions cannot just bolt up to a transfercase. Just to avoid some confusion, you have an AW-4, not an AX-4. The AX-4 is a 4 speed manual transmission used behind the 2.5 and 2.8. If you picked up an entire Renix 4.0 5 speed XJ, converting to a 5 speed wouldn't be that much extra work, if you really want the manual. Really the worst issue with that is dealing with axle ratios. You'd need to either install the XJ's rear axle, which involves welding on spring perches, or find a separate 3.55 D30 for the front, which is going to be the most ideal situation.
  20. Contour has nothing to do with it. When comparing the geometry to the draglink, you need to draw a straight line from the mount on the body to where it mounts on the axle.
  21. Just because you have an aftermarket track bar designed for a lift, doesn't mean it mounts in a different place. When you drop the pitman, you must drop the track bar to avoid problems. This is done with a new track bar mount.
  22. The MJ got its own AMC 20, from the factory in 86. From what I understand, other AMC 20s have 2 piece axle shafts, and I doubt the Javelin's width is going to be correct. Were you putting the 360 in the MJ?

    Shoutbox?

That's how many people are viewing it. If you go back to the forum and it pops up a 1, that's just you, and it'll go away when you go to another page.

    Shoutbox?

The shoutbox is not a reference tool. It doesn't automatically link to threads on what's being discussed... It's just a chat system, that's it.
