Ok I just discovered something super cool while going through the data books today.

For context on my dads second Comanche this double deck radio came in it, that replaced the lower vent and radio slot with this big radio.

so today I’m looking through the data books and I get to the mopar accessories at the end, and I see a cool custom order radio. So a few hours go by and my brain asks if it’s the same… so here we are now.

I’m thinking a “Comanche limited” should have a pimp radio like this, does anyone know where I can get the buttons to restore this, or any information will be extremely helpful

Most likely a parts unit where the buttons are in great shape to replace the buttons. But that would be a cool thing to see in an MJ where it’s still that factory style radio scheme.

I agree, currently looking on eBay for the unit, it plugs right into the 88+ style plug with no modifications. Just to install you have to remove the center vent, and move the heater controls to the bottom

Picked up a Chrome rear bumper a couple days ago, it was a little bent up, but with some little tweaking it’s looking a lot better, still more to be fixed in its future

Started one side at a time getting the big bends out

Then the other side, the little dents will be addressed later.

definitely a 30 footer rn, but it’s the look the truck needed, I'm super happy with how it came out.

It needs a good polish and it’ll never be perfect especially with all the dents and rust putting, but if it was perfect it wouldn’t go on my truck.

Got one movable wing window installed today. Decided not to do the other one today, but still on the to do list

My dad and I also dug out this gem today and did a little evaluation on it

It looks so good, and something now that will be worked on here and there.
The goal is to make it into a tailgate that could go on any Comanche and function with no modification

Little bit off topic, looking through your interior pictures, and I notice you also have the upper hockey stick armrest chrome trim piece missing, is that an interior option to only get the lower chrome trim then upgrade to the “full arm rest trim” or had someone had our armrests off and didn’t put the upper chrome trim piece back on? I see you have the drivers side map pocket so I assume it’s a full option trim package? Curious if you happen to know. CFA91AD9-EE85-4F24-BC71-03662C65049E.png.76f628fe68f214b8998e2e624c43e544.png

My Truck definitely came with the top diamonds in chrome, my dad took off all of them when he had the truck, and I couldn’t find the upper ones when I put the others back

As for your question, in the dealer book it shows pioneers coming standard with map pockets

and the base not even having the option for them

Also on the inside of the door card it’s stamped Pioneer/Chief 4drxj

so I’m assuming that they only used them on those ( I believe they also used them on eliminators as well as possible some other models)

Awesome. Great info. Thank you.
So if the top Diamond is missing, someone along the line removed them. (Pioneer+) Interesting. Funny just how many are actually missing.

Yes! The high altitude CPS was well worth it. I’ve put a few thousand miles on mine with it and no knocks. That should be because of the knock sensor retarding timing when it needs it.
I did a bored TB at the same time as the CPS and gained 1.5 mpg.

I have three, two fully working. They're exactly as cool as you think they are. I've also had the same thoughts about moving the HVAC controls, but eventually decided on just the top unit and a DSP for equalization. The full unit will be a bitchin' shop radio some day though.

mid-line trims could have the big piece of chrome. :L:   only the highest trims got both.  that's why the diamond is so rare.  only found on XLS and Laredos and such.
