Some areas got over 3 feet overnight which is kind of a lot in the northeast lol. We haven't gotten more than like 6" in like 3 years although it has snowed the past two halloweens and that was about it in some areas. I think the news stations were freaking out because of the wind gusts and how badly they affected the northeast during hurricane sandy

Don't these nor-easters [or whatever theyre called] hit every year? What makes this one so different than the others?

Yes they do. But this one was the worst storms in a few years, the media must have had a slow week and dramatized it a bit over the top. I grew up in New England and when I was a kid and this was pretty ordinary. It's a great place to grow up, but now that I know better I'd never live there again. Except in the summer.

Both my dog and myself love snow, but I'd never want to live in an area where it snows all the time mostly because those areas are well equipped to handle it. Now that I moved to Maryland, I enjoy the days where we get few inches of snow and the whole state shuts down. I get a relaxing day off from work where I can sit by the fire and sip hot chocolate and coffee.

Yeah, sometimes it does suck being able to deal with the snow. 2-4 inches, we wouldn't expect things to shut down, but those days when we wake up to eight inches plus of fresh snow, so you check your school email, and there's that subject line "U of S Announcement: Classes are NOT cancelled today"... those days can really get you down...

I wouldn't exactly call it ordinary. Here in NH the state capital of Concord got 24" of snow. That was 3 inches shy of the record for one storm set in 1888. The highest total in the state from the storm measured in at 34". It wasn't just the snow that was bad though. The storm came with 30-50 MPH winds inland and even higher winds on the coast. The winds blew the snow around leaving 3'+ drifts. The one good thing about the storm is that the temps were in the twenties so it was fluffy snow and not heavy wet snow sparing us from the usual wide spread power outages.

I have my 2wd Comanche parked down the hill out back so I am hoping to get it out of there sometime in May.

Looks like they are forcasting a couple more inches in the morning.

Yes, you're right, it was not ordinary, bad choice of words. But I can remember many times digging out of snow that had drifted over the house and having to go to school through the woods on cross-country skis or snowshoes. Couldn't do that anymore. This was many many years ago in Burlington, VT. My grandparents lived in Pittsfield, not too far from you. Spent most summers there fishing with my Grandpa on the Suncook River. Beautiful country. Glad you have power now.
