cody4359 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 thought about keeping it and began making the pigtail for the front to rear harness. hope the pins for the connectors are the same in a 96 as they are a 92 , if not then :headpop:
MJRemi Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 I replaced the front bumper with a nice chrome one from a JY Cherokee and added the factory tow hooks I bought from Summerinmaine (Jim). I also swapped in a solid wing window on the passenger side so both sides are now solid. I swapped in both hockey stick door handles and the visors with nice black ones from the JY.
Thunderbear Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Bought it and brought it home! Also, removed an entirely unnecessary teenager-applied eyebrow, along with crusted decals. Simple greened the crap out of all of it.
2360 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Greased my leaf springs. That smoothed out the bumps a bit more. :peek:
MancheKid86 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 on thurday, i got insurance on my 87 sport, replaced a bad ground and bad battery, and bunch of fuses. that night, snapped my exhaust into 3 peices yesterday, i removed the broken exhaust, picked up a valve cover gasket, and today, I'm taking it in to get the exhaust replaced.
comanche12 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 starting work on front end to fix front springs bow issue with metal wedges. then steering system issue
HOrnbrod Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 My front end is starting to blind me at times, so I thought I'd tone it down as Gjeep did with his new 92 by painting the vertical chrome slots black. I used Krylon Fusion Satin and I like it a lot better. Thanks G.
HOrnbrod Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 got my exhaust installed First time I've seen a fart can on a Comanche. :clapping:
tj21 Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Got frustrated with the brakes barely working. Replaced the rear wheel cylinders, turned the drums, and new shoes. The cylinders were shot, squirting fluid everywhere. I'm not a fan of working on brakes, especially drums/shoes, but its done now, except for the bleeding. Will do that tomorrow, and hopefully the brakes slow me down faster than downshifting now.
Thunderbear Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 New battery terminals New battery Oil Change New cap and rotor New plugs New wires New valve cover gasket New air filter Now it's puking oil somewhere, right onto the exhaust manifold.. smoking like a sumbitch. :fs2: :wall: Tomorrow is finding the leak, and showing the rear bumper some love. And maybe new(er) tires and wheels if I'm super lucky. Also, flywheel dust cover to go on, and working on relivening the bench seat a bit.
MancheKid86 Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 First time I've seen a fart can on a Comanche. :clapping: that one came off my first comanche
Thunderbear Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Well, I scored new tires, but they're a touch bigger than I wanted. Ended up with 265/75/15s on some aluminum 5 spokes. Prepped and painted bumper - on the truck, since trying to remove it grenaded one of my Craftsman deep sockets. Prepped and painted wheels Prepped and painted dumbass chrome tips on exhaust now nice flat black Fabbed license plate light Pulled valve cover to realign gasket - no more spitting oil Mounted 3 tires - tomorrow is no 4. Still need to get another tail light bulb, a wiper set, and mount the flywheel dust cover, then get her inspected.
cody4359 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 continued labeling pigtail for HO/renix harness with some online help from boilermaker
Thunderbear Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 New belts New wipers Replaced burned out taillight Replaced flywheel dust cover Cleaned up starter while installing dust cover Degreased engine to diagnose leak site Hooked up reverse lights Now it won't start. This little mother@#$%er.
mvusse Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Picked up a new driveshaft for the Pig made from 3" .188 wall tube, $250. Then went 75 minutes in the other direction and picked up an AX5 for the Purple People Eater.
philbert001 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Seriously considered setting it on fire, and watching it burn!
Thunderbear Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Seriously considered setting it on fire, and watching it burn! You too?
philbert001 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Seriously considered setting it on fire, and watching it burn! You too? Oh yeah...several times! I wanted to make it look like Ryan Dunns porsche! (No?...Too soon?...)
Donkey Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 stripped the driver side bed of paint and began bondo process, then covered up my work with some temp gray primer
jeepsouth Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Got her going again ,replaced the starter solinoid. :wrench:
SW86 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 picked up some 1.75 coil spacers since cash for taller springs isnt in budget right now and waiting to hear back from the guy who's helping with the long arms/SOA rear swap :headpop: oh yeah, got it dirty again :brows:
tj21 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Finally figured out my MAP sensor vacuum line wasn't plugged in. Put a new one on and improved my gas mileage from a consistent 4 mpg up to 10 mpg after a hilly 40 mile trip, mostly in 3rd gear. She's starting to run like a real truck now.
