You notice my licence plates... They are not custom ordered. Here in Finland they give allways plates which represent owner the best..... :shake:

Yea, I kind of figured that..........but didn't want to say anything

LOL...did anyone else notice the boost gauge in that Finnish TD MJ instrument cluster (lower right corner)? Just another example of how Europe has WAY cooler cars than what's here in the States...

The boost guage came on all TD MJ's. Pat (JeepcoMJ)'s dad's '86 with the 2.1 has that also...

Should have bought that diesel MJ on ebay a few years ago... :fool:

Hi!

Just thought I should say hi as I just joined, I don't own any comanches personally although there are two in my yard right now next to the two cherokees that I am part owner of :D If you don't know my name is Jo and I am Correy's (Geonovast's) fiance, I just joined to be supportive of him as he is of me, and plus he has such a passion for these trucks I want to know as much about them as I can. I have a little bit of car/truck knowledge as my Dad was into them as well (and we found out through my mom not too long ago that he DID once own a comanche! lol) I probably won't say much as I obviously don't have much to contribute but I am happy to meet you all and look forward to learning as much as I can! Its the least I can do for this sweet man that I love ;)

don't worry though, I'll stay out of the way! (though ask Correy sometime who knew about the coolant leak in the red cherokee first, and who GUESSED it was the timing when he swapped motors on it and it wouldnt run! :rotfl2: )

Jo

Hello! And here is new member(s) to this club! Me and my long bed Comanche 4x4 with 2.1td and manual. I've own it for two years and it's daily driven (273000km=170000mls). There is NON-c-clip D35 with Detroit soft-locker in rear.

Here some pics:

I love that Jeep, the color is perfect, the bed cover is a cool idea and the tires and wheels are perfect. Throw in that diesel and you have one great MJ. Thanks for the pics!

Thanks guys! Maybe diesel is a little bit doggy, but I have get a long. And 4.11 gears and five-speed manual helps.... And of course it much cheaper to drive daily and works very well. Maybe 4.0 will be next engine (XJs with engine are cheap to buy) if this diesel blow up in some day!

MJs were import about 50pcs to Finland in end of 80's (and later some private import MJs). It's not very common :D, but I know couple owners in near by.

And one thing Lenard: In Europe we haven't use volt/amp-gause after 70's. Only exception is England, because they have Lucas electrical system on their cars... ;) So there is no stock volt gauge!

Hi, just registered the other day, thought I'd do the intro thing.

I'm from :Canadaflag:

I bought my Comanche back in 1990 in Chilliwack BC. (A nice little community nestled in Fraser Valley not far from Vancouver BC)

My Comanche is a 1988 two wheel drive with a 4L. It's got about 496000 kms (296,000 miles)

It's been quite a ride, over the years. Lately I've been giving the ol' comanche more TLC after years of indifference.

After some twenty odd years of I decided a paint job at minimal cost was in order. So after a can or so of Tremclad and a brush and roller. voila.

Did the sky light mod in the cab years ago not long after going for a spin in a helicopter.

The ceiling console is a recent addition from an XJ. Pick n Pull is great recreation. Oh, had to redo the sun visors for a better fit on the lid.

Took out a street light by TranCanada Hwy back in 93. I thought I was going to bite the dust on that one. But the Comanche hit the lamp pole right on the right side frame. The pole went vertical out of sight, the comanche climbed over the cement footing (between 1 and 2 feet high), with both wheels and didn't leave a scratch anywhere. Which to this day I can't figure how.

I did get two flat tires. The front tire went flat immediately, which I changed then later the rear went flat as I start driving to work.

Every time the wheel came around to the ground a bit of air came out of the slit in the sidewheel. When the rear went flat that is the only time I can remember when the Jeep left me high and dry. I probably couldn't gone much further anywho, the rad was banged up and leaking, various parts were broken like the fan shroud, battery tie down and what not.

Put in a new instrument cluster not long ago, a direct swap, gotta luv that and the Tach.

Well that's a rough outline of the Jeep.

Hopefully with summer coming I'll do some more fixing up.

Chow!

I've repainted her, so I thought I would re-edit this post:

It is a 1986 Comanche,w/ hideous 2.8L V6, 4X4, 5speed, 4:10 gears, 2.5" lift, and 31" tires all around, and what looks to be the front bezel from a 1997 Cherokee. It also now has the bumper end caps from said Cherokee.
