  1. My '89 2.5L does the same thing, and I think it's pushing it out the dipstick tube at higher RPM's. Also check the oil gauge sending unit just fore of the distributor.
  2. I wouldn't worry about 1ยบ or less, and you are going to need some caster.
  3. Looking good, I've got the exact same truck but it's an '89 2.5L 4spd 2wd, same paint as yours but a maroon interior and sunroof. Will be following this thread closely.
  4. They're a TSL/SX, not the LTB. Great job, hard work has really paid off. Any plans on having a functional bed?
  5. Anybody replace the headliner on a truck with a sunroof? I've got my 2nd MJ and it needs the headliner replaced, both trucks have had sunroofs.
  6. The benefits of having it engaged all the time is that you know the 4wd will work when you need it. A downside is it spins the driveshaft all the time, so you will lose a small amount on your mileage. Might not be noticeable.
  7. Is the 2.5L TBI prone to the same filter adapter leak as the 4.0L engines? I've got a large oil leak on the passenger side of the engine and not sure where it's coming from.
  8. Nope, need the 4wd tranny.
  9. Most driveshaft shops will shorten and balance a driveshaft for under $100.
  10. I run spools front and rear on my daily driver YJ, ran lincoln lockers f/r in my stock axles before upgrading to 44's. I run a cable disconnect as well in order to run 3wd on the trails in the tight sections. I chose a disconnect SJ 44 just for this reason. Works great for me, spools onroad aren't bad at all. Not for everybody but great for me.
  11. With a 2wd AX5 transmission of a similar year be a direct replacement for an AX4? Working on my '89 2.5L.
  12. A 231/300 doubler and 231/231 doubler are becoming more common in jeeps. The 231/300 doubler is the same length or a tad shorter than an OEM 231. Just google '231 doubler' or similar.
  13. Addicted wooter here :clapping:
  14. I run a Hayden tranny cooler on the power steering, available at most auto parts stores. It's a must if you run a front locker on the trail.
  15. I think there'd be quite a market here and on Ebay for the side plates, the rest is cake.
  16. This should help you troubleshoot the throttle body and sensors: http://jeepgarage.free.fr/OWN/2.5l%20cec%20system.pdf
  17. I checked the FAQ and didn't see it in the bolt thread, looking for the bolt size to attach the intake/exhaust manifolds to the head. Just bought an '89 2.5L 'manche and it's missing 4 of the 7 or so bolts holding the manifolds on. Thanks.
  18. Need the bolt size for attaching the manifolds to the head on an '89 2.5L, found my new purchase to be missing 4 of them :dunno:
  19. Yes, it's a '96 case which means late gear cut. You are correct in the location of the metal spring you found. Pushing on the chain is no indication of wear as the mainshaft and front output shaft simply move toward each other as you push on the chain, since the rear of each shaft is not supported. Did the case come with a little fluid in it? What did the fluid look like? Be sure to check the condition of the plastic pads on both shift forks, they commonly wear. I will respond to your PM ref. parts.
  20. I've used the Quadratrac vacuum switch that Eagle mentioned, worked real slick to engage and disengage the disconnect. The 'swoosh' sound in the cab was a bonus. If you want the disco engaged on the cheap and easy, just remove the disco from the axle, engage the collar over both axleshafts, and reinstall the disco upside down. Holds the axle engaged just fine. If you want to run vacuum, you can do it from the same vacuum switch on the tranny that the 4wd trucks use. It has 4 ports, 1 is vacuum from manifold, 2 to the front axle, and the 3rd is a vent.
  21. $200-$300 on the forums here in the Midwest. I can usually find them in the JY for around $100.
  22. I would think the ZJ would flow more for the large capacity of calipers, you could use that with the 60. Which MC did you use?
  23. I can get you a throttle plate for a 62mm bore.
  24. buggy79, nice looking rig. I love boggers cut like that, I'd run them for my trail tires if I didn't drive my jeep a few hours to the trails. thanks for the phone call, appreciate a jeeper trying to help out a fellow jeeper. I think I have somebody lined up to pick up the transfer case when it's ready, keep my number
  25. Renix was used until '90, then they switched to the HO in '91. You have the Renix. A key identifier is the 3bolts attaching the throttle body to the intake compared to the HO's 4bolts.
