  1. Just pick up a $25 external tranny cooler and the parts store and plumb it in per the instructions. I use one on my power steering and it works great. Also consider installing a temp gauge for the transmission, with sending units on the hot fluid out and the cool fluid in. You can use a switch to flip the gauge readings between the two. The cooler you keep the fluid, the longer the auto tranny will last.
  2. With complete disassemble and rebuild of the transmissions. Would be easier to redrill the rear flange of the transmission if the improvement in ground clearance really bothered you.
  3. RIP Thanks for trying.
  4. We had a good time, will have to let you know next time and check out mid-town. We're only 4 hours away, maybe next time we go to Reelfoot Lake we'll come on down.
  5. It's a nice straight truck, shouldn't be in a yard unless it's my yard. Southernwheeler 86, I was on Beale St. Friday night
  6. If it's just a chip in the outer edge of the ring gear, I'd think you could run it with no problems. The pinion rides on the very center of the ring gear face. Be worth a try.
  7. And I appreciate it  But I'd understand him not wanting to go through the trouble of removing and shipping it, so it's all good.
  8. It's not adjustable, it's computer controlled, adjusting the throttle stop is an incorrect fix to a problem somewhere else.
  9. I'm still interested if you make it back, dependent on price and what you would charge to make it worth your trouble. I really appreciate the effort.
  10. Which would render the rest of the window useless.
  11. Get a price for the rear window and I'd pay you to ship it to me.
  12. What front bumper is that? If you want a cool swamper the same height, check out the Q78. It's slightly narrower, the same height, and has a deeper tread. More bang for your buck. Thanks for posting all the pics, got a '97+ front clip here to add to my '89 black MJ.
  13. If you have an auto tranny, you will want an '87-'90 so the transmission will plug right in. The transfer case and front axle will be fine, just check the axle gear ratio to match what you have the back, or plan on rewelding the spring perches on the XJ rear axle to install in the MJ.
  14. Can anybody elaborate on how difficult it is to install a new heater core? Mine is an '89.
  15. This I know, but he asked about upgrading to a '97 intake.
  16. Comparison of '91-'98 to the '99+:
  17. The upgraded intake began in '99 and you don't gain a whole lot from it.
  18. I've got quite a few speedo gears here if you determine what you need.
  19. I would either remove the drop pitman arm or lower the frame end of the front trackbar to bring the draglink and trackbar within parallel of each other.
  20. How much lift do you have in the front? If you have a track bar bracket on the axle end of the front trackbar, I'd recommend removing it. Rough Country has an adjustable trackbar for $99.
  21. I would not recommend removing the speedo needle from the gauge. If you want to adjust the speedo reading, change the speedo gear. My '89 bounces at lower speeds too, not enough to really bother me.
  22. Includes 2 quick connectors, I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that this is just an overpriced adjustment to the MAP sensor or similar.
  23. I don't believe Stu is a retailer, just a well-known jeeper with an awesome collection of tech articles. Where on his site is the chip you're referring to?
  24. I'm from near there, near Taylorville/Shelbyville areas. Headed to Superlift Oct. 8-11 and the Shawnee National Forest Oct. 22-24.
  25. 2.5L or 4.0L engine? I'd guess a bad IAC controller (idle air control) on the throttle body, a dirty throttle body, or if a 2.5L a bad idle motor.
